Cheerleaders lend a hand for a cure

Newnan High School’s cheerleading squad recently organized their annual “Cougars for a Cure Pink Out” to benefit Piedmont Newnan Hospital’s Cancer Wellness program.

The cheerleading squad sold t-shirts and raised funds at a regular season football game, resulting in a $3,000 donation.

Because of philanthropic support such as the “Cougars for a Cure Pink Out,” Cancer Wellness at Piedmont Newnan offers free, with comprehensive services and programs to anyone in the Coweta community affected by cancer at any phase in his or her cancer journey. Read More»

Fayette falls to third in latest health rankings

Fayette County fell to third place for health status and economic factors among Georgia’s 159 counties as ranked in the Partner Up! for Public Health campaign’s 2013 Power Rankings, the campaign announced earlier this month.

Oconee County, a fast-growing suburban county in northeast Georgia, claimed first place, having tied with Fayette for the top spot in 2012. The new-second place finisher is Forsyth County. Read More»

Piedmont Fayette receives grant from ‘It’s the Journey’

Two Piedmont Healthcare-affiliated hospitals have been awarded grants from It’s The Journey, Inc., producers of the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer.

Piedmont Fayette Hospital was awarded over $20,000 to support the hospital’s patient navigator, whose primary responsibility is to guide cancer patients through their continuum of care and provide comfort during difficult times. Fairburn resident discusses CTCA and healthy living

Roderick Echols of Fairburn was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in June of last year. When CTCA at Southeastern Regional Medical Center opened its doors in Newnan on August 15, 2012, he was one of the first patients at the facility. Things have gone well for Echols since he began his treatment and he has nothing but positive things to say about CTCA and the care he received there. Read More»

Family and friends present concert to help man with liver transplant

Fayetteville resident Robert Caldwell is on the list for a liver transplant. His family and friends are presenting a concert on Feburary 9 to help him after he receives the transplant.

“The goal is to raise money for his personal transplant account for the Georgia Transplant Foundation,” Caldwell’s daughter Andrea explained. “After the transplant, he will be on medication for the rest of his life to keep his body and the new organ in agreement. The Georgia Transplant Foundation will match whatever is in his personal account.” Read More»

Piedmont Newnan seeks help for ER wait times

The new Piedmont Newnan Hospital on Poplar Road has been open less than a year, but it is already experiencing wait times that have led to a new medical screening exam in the emergency room to more effectively serve patients with more severe conditions.
