Elizabeth Davis Houlihan, 16, of Fayetteville

Elizabeth Davis Houlihan, 16, of Fayetteville, Ga., died on March 29, 2016 of sudden cardiac arrest. She was flown by helicopter to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Atlanta but could not be revived. Elizabeth was the daughter of Lt. Colonel and Mrs. Philip "Woody" Houlihan of Fayetteville, Ga. Her siblings are Patrick Thomas Houlihan, 18, Claire Catherine Houlihan, 14, Margaret Ruth Houlihan, 7, and Rebecca Pond Houlihan, 4. Grandparents are Mrs. Thomas Houlihan of Louisville, Ky. and the late Mr. Thomas Houlihan, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cox of High Point, N.C.

Won Pyo Hong, age 69, of Peachtree City

Won Pyo Hong, age 69, of Peachtree City passed away at Piedmont Fayette Hospital surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 2, 2016.

Won was born in Mokpo, South Korea to In Suk and Chu Hong. Won was the valedictorian when he graduated from Seoul University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. On May 8, 1976, Won married Eun Hee Sung. Won and Eun immigrated to the United States in 1977. He appreciated nature and loved to laugh. Won was full of life and the joy of the Lord. He had a deep and abiding love for his family that will never be forgotten.

Angela Louise Fleegle Sutton, age 47

Ms. Angela Louise Fleegle Sutton, age 47, of Jackson, Ga., passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Angela was born on Saturday, December 28, 1968 in Riverdale, Md. to the late Charles Raymond Fleegle and Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth McDonald Fleegle.

Angela was a 1986 graduate of McIntosh High School in Peachtree City. She served honorably in the United States Air Force during Operation Desert Storm. She worked at Central Georgia EMC and was a faithful member of Rock Springs Church. She loved spending time with her children and at her church.

Merton Spear of Peachtree City

Merton "Mert" Spear of Peachtree City, Ga. was born September 2, 1927 in Augusta, Maine. The Lord called him to his heavenly home on April 2, 2016.

He was a loving husband and devoted father of three children. He served in the Army during WWII and worked for Xerox as a design engineer, receiving six U. S. patents. His service for the Lord included starting both a church bookstore and a translator radio station. He also served on the board of the Mars Hill Network.

Norman Earnest, age 79, of Fayetteville

Mr. Norman "Lawrence" Earnest, age 79, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ava Tully Earnest; his parents, John Bowen and Inez Merkinson Earnest; brothers, Ralph Earnest, Henry Earnest, Dockie Earnest, Rev. Curtis Earnest and his sister, Allene Allday.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Earnest of Fayetteville; son, Dewayne Earnest and his wife Larissa of Griffin; daughter, Norma Earnest Miller and her husband, David of Fayetteville; sister, Jeanette Earnest Miller of Reynoldsville; grandchildren, Eric Miller and his wife, Erin of Fayetteville, Johnathan Miller of Fayetteville, Ashleigh Hardee and her husband, Brandon of Senoia, Kayla Chapman of Tyrone, Connor Chapman of Tyrone; great grandchildren, Elijah Miller, Ezekiel Miller, Ava Hardee and Skylar Hardee; step-children, Kevin Chapman and his wife, Leslie of Tyrone, Britt Chapman of Tyrone.

Sarah Elizabeth Rivers, 97, of Fayetteville

Sarah Elizabeth Rivers, 97, of Fayetteville passed away on March 27, 2016.

She was born in Fayetteville, Ga. on September 10, 1918 to Benjamin Wyatt Adams and Pearlie Ethyl Mae Chapman Adams and lived there all of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Clarence Rivers; her son, Charles Rivers; and her son-in-law, Sam Rakestraw.

Mrs. Rivers is survived by her sons, Ben and Dale Rivers of Knoxville, Tenn. and Tom and Judith Rivers of East Haddam, Conn.; her daughter, Shirley Rakestraw of Tyrone; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Rivers, Yatesville, Ga.; her nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Bernadette Ortynsky, age 101

Bernadette Ortynsky, born Bernadette Grenier, completed her earthy journey and entered into the presence of God on March 10, 2016.

She was the 4th child born to Emile and Regina Grenier in Cambridge Mass on June 24, 1914. For over 101 years she lent her voice to the things she cared about. She grew up in Cambridge, Mass. and was a graduate of Regis College and received her Master's Degree in Psychiatric Social Work from Simmons College. In her early years, she was a psychiatric social worker in New York City during the Great Depression. She married Roman Ortynsky in February of 1942 in St. Louis, Mo. She and Roman had two girls, Suzanne and Daria. Throughout her years she used her education and experience to help those that she could. In 1977 she moved from Bel Air, Md. to Peachtree City and was one of the original members of the Pioneer Group in Peachtree City. She was fortunate to live her life independently until the very end. She renewed her driver's license at the age of 100, and was even able to maintain her gym workouts until three weeks before she passed.

Walter E. Gibson, of Fayetteville

Mr. Walter E. Gibson passed peacefully in Fayetteville, Ga. on March 30, 2016.

Mr. Gibson, a long-time resident of Union City, Ga., was born on September 16, 1917 to the late Walter Murrah and Daisy Adelia Gibson. He was in the class of 1935 at Campbell High School in Fairburn, Ga. After graduation, he began a long career with American Freight Systems. During World War II, Mr. Gibson served in the 391st Signal Company for the Army Air Force in Italy and Africa. He was also recently honored as a veteran by the City of Fayetteville and First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. Mr. Gibson was an accomplished carpenter and an avid gardener. Even in his late 90's he found joy in growing tomatoes and sunflowers in the garden he maintained at Azalea Estates in Fayetteville, Ga. He was also active in the Men's Fellowship Class at First Baptist Church of Fayetteville.

Mary Ann Glaze, of Fayetteville

Mary Ann Glaze, of Fayetteville passed away April 2, 2016.

She is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Beatrice Gallo and brothers, Tom Gallo and John Gallo. She is survived by her husband, Harry Glaze of Fayetteville; son, Gabriel (Jamie) Glaze of Senoia; daughter, Christine (J.D.) Davis of Peachtree City; son, Chris (Jenny) Glaze of Birmingham, Ala.; brothers, James (Bonnie) Gallo and Francis Gallo of Indiana, Pennsylvania and numerous cousins, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Walter David Ellington, 70, of Fayetteville

Walter David Ellington, 70, of Fayetteville, passed away April 3, 2016.

David was born March 28, 1946, in Atlanta, Ga. to W.C. (Top) Ellington and Alma Lowe Ellington. He grew up in Hapeville, Ga. David served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 33 years. He was a member of the Riverdale Masonic Lodge, #709.
