Revenues falling, expenses rising, BoE begins next year’s budget talks now; how about a 4-day school week?

Money is tight, and school enrollment is stagnant or falling. So the Fayette County Board of Education met Aug. 1 to talk about what to do about a shortfall of $9-10 million at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year next July.

School system employees: notify system when charged with crime

If you are a Fayette County school teacher and you get busted by the cops for anything above a traffic ticket, you have to report yourself to the principal.

That’s the gist of a new Fayette County School System policy under consideration by the Board of Education.

Coweta Charter Academy: state says ‘yes,’ Coweta says ‘no’

The Coweta Charter Academy at Senoia was one of nine charter schools approved June 28 for State-Charter Special School status by the State Board of Education. That vote came four days after the Coweta County Board of Education voted 6-1 to deny the application, and hence the local tax dollars, that would have allowed the school to continue its operation and to expand in August.
