Fayette County residents receiving county water bills are being asked to participate in an online survey on how to address future park and recreation needs.

Fayette County will spend at least $15,000 in an effort to avoid strict environmental regulations due to air quality.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Division wants to include Fayette County as one of 18 counties in the metro Atlanta area that are not meeting air quality standards due to poor air quality. Read More»

The Fayette County Commission will spend $17,500 to survey Lake Peachtree to determine if it needs to be dredged to remove silt buildup.

A contract for that amount was approved last week with the county’s consulting engineering firm, Mallett Consulting.

The lake is owned by Peachtree City but has been used as a county reservoir for drinking water since the late 1980s under a 50-year agreement brokered between the city and the county.

The defeat of former Fayetteville Mayor Ken Steele in November’s election insured that Fayette County’s cities would have a new representative sitting on the board of the Atlanta Regional Commission.

And with a split 3-2 vote Monday from Fayette’s five mayors, new Tyrone Mayor Eric Dial was elected to the position over Peachtree City Mayor Don Haddix.

Voting for Dial were Brooks Mayor Dan Langford Jr., Gary Laggis of Woolsey and Dial himself. Voting for Haddix were new Fayetteville mayor Greg Clifton and Haddix himself.
