Good article from Walter E Williams

Presidential Nonsense

Last week, President Barack Obama, at a Capital Hilton fundraising event, told the crowd, "We can't go back to this brand of you're-on-your-own economics."

President Obama also told the Washington Hilton crowd that "we are not a country that was built on the idea of survival of the fittest." Obama is not by himself, but "survival of the fittest" is one of the greatest misunderstandings of Charles Darwin's pathbreaking work "On the Origin of Species." When Obama and most other people use the expression "survival of the fittest," they suggest that a bunch of people or animals are competing with one another and the strongest, smartest or cleverest survives. That's not what Darwin and evolutionary biologists have in mind. Instead, what they have in mind is that those who survive have characteristics that make them better-equipped to survive and hence reproduce themselves in a particular environment. They are not laying waste to their competitors.

Let's try a few survival of the fittest questions. Which companies do you think should survive and expand, those that can meet the changing wants of their customers in a least-cost fashion or those that cannot do so? If the means of communication become cheaper through fax machines, the Internet and telephones, should subsidies be expended to help the U.S. Postal Service survive? Years ago, typing was done on a mechanical typewriter; milk was delivered to doorsteps via horse and wagon; slide rules were used to make calculations. Should any of these products and practices have survived, or was it OK for natural selection to consign them to the dustbin of history?

Food Stamp President's State of the Union Speech

The Food Stamp President's State of the Union Speech better not preempt any of my favorite television shows. Not that we would learn anything about the state of the union anyway - this is going to be nothing but a campaign speech where he will blame GW Bush and the entire republican party for all of the problems that he created.

Do you have your Obam-o-bingo card ready?
Americans for Tax Reform Presents Obama/State of the Union BINGO!

KEY:
"Investment" – Spending taxpayer money on Obama re-election constituencies such as government employee unions, teachers' guilds, and big-city political machines.

"Children and grandchildren" – The people picking up the tab.

"Energy" – Something that flows from good intentions, government programs, "stimulus" spending but not pipelines.

"Exports" – That trade – and only that trade – acceptable to union bosses.

"I" or "Me" – Center of the known universe.
"Compromise" – Tax hikes.

"Sacrifice" – Tax hikes.

"Bipartisan" – Tax hikes.

"Fair" OR "Fair Share" – Tax hikes.

"Balanced" – Tax hikes.

"Small business" – Those who will pay the most under my plan to tax "the rich."

"Special interests" – Taxpayers who do not wish to give their money to my friends.

"There are those who..." OR "Some" – [INSERT STRAW MAN HERE]
"Middle class" – Those who are the target of seven tax hikes in Obamacare.

"Deficit" – What Democrats want you to focus on when what they really want to sell you is a take hike.

"Regulations" – The governmental leash attached to the choke collar around the neck of the economy.

"Recovery" – This time it's real, I swear, not like that "Recovery Summer" we had in 2010 after spending $1 trillion of borrowed money.

"Infrastructure" OR "Roads and Bridges" – Spending taxpayer money on those states voting Democrat in '08.

"Affordable" – Reality for the taxpayer only after they've worked 224 days to pay for the total cost of government.

"Obstructionists" – House Republican lawmakers who have actually passed a budget – NOT the Senate Democrats who have refused to pass a budget for 1,000 days.

"Streamline" – The pretense of dieting after an all-out spending binge.

"Wall Street" – 1. Where your IRA and 401(k) live. 2. A bauble to distract you from noticing my bailout of Fannie and Freddie.

"Jobs" – "You want to find work on the Keystone XL pipeline? Tough luck – I've got a campaign to run."

"Profit" – Money without which jobs could never be created.

Got a story for you, Joe. Its an oldie but goodie.

An energetic young Democrat gets elected President on the heels of an economic downturn that started under his Republican predessor's watch. He spends huge amounts of money trying to stimulate the economy and lower unemployment and they mostly all fail. Prior to his reelection campaign he rails on about taxing the rich, all the time knowing that lowers government revenue but fairness and punishing the rich is the goal. Union wages are at record high levels, but no private sector work is available. Republicans anxious to replace the Democrat incumbent have a rich capitalist, a relic from the Republican past and a young starry-eyed idealist vying for the nomination.

Sound familiar? Should. But the names are Hoover, Roosevelt, Wilkie, Hoover (again) and Dewey as opposed to Bush, Obama, Romney, Gingrich and Santorum in the leading roles and the year is 1940. Apologies to Ron Paul, there was no one similar running in 1940.

At the convention Wilkie and Dewey slug it out, Hoover won't let go. Wilkie gets the nod eventually, picks the majority leader as his running mate (that would be Boehner today) and of course Roosevelt gets reelected. Granted Roosevelt had 8 years of failure where Obama only has 4, but Obama outspent Roosevelt by far. Oh yea, the unemployment rate was 14% in 1940 - which is what ours probably is today without all the hedging and creativity that now goes into the reporting process.

The logical conclusion to this story is don't think that voters will view all the facts and figures the same way as you or any intelligent person would and arrive at the obvious conclusion when it is time to vote. Old Mr. Hope and Change could indeed win with his class warfare strategy.

Obama's 1%

WHO'S GREEDY? Obama Gave 1% to Charity, Romney Gave 15%

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle gave $10,772 of the $1.2 million they earned from 2000 through 2004 to charities, or less than 1 percent, according to tax returns for those years released today by his campaign.

Romney charitable contributions

Tax year Charitable donations Donations as % of income
2010 13.73%
2011 (est) 19.14%

-- The unemployment rate when Obama was elected was 6.8%; today it is 8.5% …and that is not considering the fact that 3 million fewer Americans are seeking work compared to 2007.

-- There are now fewer payroll jobs than there were in 2000 and now, 40% of those jobs are considered “low paying.”

-- Regular gasoline per gallon cost $1.68 in January 2009. Today, it’s $3.39 — that’s a 102% increase in just three years.

-- Electricity bills have also skyrocketed, with households now paying a record $1,420 annually on average, up some $300.

-- Since December 2008, food-stamp use has increased 46%.
Nearly 20% of males age 25 to 34 now live with their parents.

-- America’s annual budget has jumped to $3.8 trillion — and yet the United States brings in only about $2.1 trillion in revenue.

-- America’s total public debt stands at $15.23 trillion; in January 2009, the debt was $10.62 trillion.

-- Obama is on pace to borrow $6.2 trillion in just one term — more debt than was amassed by all presidents from Washington through Bill Clinton combined.

-- The debt is rising by $4.2 billion every day — $175 million per hour, nearly $3 million per minute.

This miserable prepuce of a "president" will not rest until this country is completely bankrupt, both fiscally and morally.

Repug Response

So we drag poor ol' Mitch Daniels, one of the architects of the current mess the President is wading thru as head of the OMB, out for a response. I am sure as an executive w/ Big Pharma he has some good ideas on healthcare reform. I guess we'll just forget that Duby left Obama with the mess you think he should have solved in 3 years. I guess you would rather step over starving people on the way to the grocery than see the food stamp rolls swell. Every night Daddy Bush cries himself to sleep asking Barbara, "Why, Why didn't he win the '94 election. It was suppose to be the smart one not the dummy (& I don't mean Lincoln Savings Neil)"

Obama is nothing but a two-bit dictator hell bent on dividing and bankrupting the US. Thank goodness he will be voted out of office and tossed out of the White House on his can in November.

Even ABC News said The Prez's facts need checking...

http://news.yahoo.com/state-union-fact-checking-president-022136336--abc...

Seems even when he has an entire year to write it and 2 hours to get it right he still can't just tell the truth without "Embellishing" the facts...

On Obama's Wealth warfare rhetoric.... From ABC NEWS

Fact Check: The Rich, Their Secretaries and Taxes

Treasury Secretary Geithner yesterday declined to answer a key question about the president’s proposed “Buffett Rule”: How many millionaires and billionaires pay lower tax rates than middle-income families?

The answer: not that many.

The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center has crunched the numbers and found that Warren Buffett and his secretary are the exception to the rule.
For the most part, the wealthy pay a significantly higher percentage of their income in taxes than middle-income workers.
The key numbers: this year those earning over $1 million will pay, on average, 29.1 percent on federal taxes. Those earning between $50,000 and $75,000 will pay 15 percent.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/09/fact-check-the-richtheir-se...

So President Obama's the "Rich need to pay their fair share" rhetoric is just that Political fodder for the uninformed masses and those with a serious wealth envy issues.

Bed Wetting & FLA Debate

Hope you are getting some pads for your bed because it looks more and more like 4 more years of More Hope and More Change. Maybe we'll get universal healthcare, finally. Really, when you look at these 4 guys, Who do you identify with? I won't characterize them.
