Great Ideas Citizen Steve

Great ideas to enhance the budget process and presentation Citizen Steve. Another area that is of interest to me is a tight link between the fice year budget and the master plan.

And you are also correct that the staff does a really good job.

Hopefully after this election stuff you can present your suggestions to the Council.

I'm pretty convinced its safer to fetch my alcohol and bring it to my house to consume, possibly while watching hours of football, than to drive off to a bar, maybe 12 miles away, then drive back that same distance after consuming it, because now, I can't buy it on game day if my week was hectic and I wasn't able to plan ahead. Yeah, I consider myself pretty darned informed!

Hold on Randy, this whole thing was a distraction

We have been had boys and girls. Someone - Morgan, Nuk or King stated that the very day of the mayor's meltdown (Thursday) was his scheduled deposition in the Logsdon libel trial.

Everybody is focused on the video and we have completely lost track of the deposition. Surely someone has some info.

request to editor cal for clarification

Here is a letter I just sent to John Munford and Editor Cal at The Citizen. I think it speaks for itself and hopefully is factual. I hope they will dig a little deeper and assist us in getting truth to the table.

If you would like a copy of the minutes of the Budget retreat or the presentation made by Chief Clark, please email me and I'll get them to you.

Also, please take 5 minutes to watch the video of Chief Clark's presentation. It becomes very obvious in my opinion how hizzhonor, and his picked candidate Allen, mischaracterizes information and is untruthful. But please review for yourself and comment - and tell your friends and neighbors. Better government starts with you (sorry for what seems like a lecture but such blatant untruths make me pretty angry).

========================================================================

Cal and John

In a forum I started on The Citizen, Haddix indicates that in this past weekend edition of The Citizen: “The paper irrefutable says Learnard did not tell the truth.”

Frankly, I have read that story in the paper many times and I don’t see where John Munford ever said that Council Woman Learnard did not tell the truth. It is interesting how people can twist reality so let’s look at the facts IN CONTEXT. By the way, if a refresher is needed on what actually transpired in the meeting, here is the link to the video of the Council Meeting: http://livestre.am/16ZIN

So why would Haddix put words in the mouth of the Citizen and mischaracterize what actually transpired. He seems to think that since Mr. Munford was sent the presentation made by Chief Clark that was presented at the budget retreat, and that it includes 2 pages of reference to the Records Management System, then it implies that this was considered by Council.

But as media professionals, I am sure that you realize that context is critical. Therefore, please review the minutes (attached) of the budget workshop. The official record of the presentation by Chief Clark is on pages 8 and 9. It does not even mention the Records Management System as being presented. If there had been a budget request or a solid plan, it would have been in the minutes.

So to make sure we have the proper context, let’s look at the video of Chief Clark’s presentation:
http://www.peachtree-city.org/index.aspx?NID=566

He begins at timeline 45:52 and ends at 1:47:00 with an overall review of Police Department operations. In the whole presentation there is not one single definitive budget request that I saw.

The records management system review starts at timeline 1:26:09 and ends at 131:52 except for a single comment at 1:44:45 where Chief Clark estimates that a new Records Management System may cost several hundred thousand dollars – they do not yet have a detailed plan. As a matter of fact at 1:27:00 Chief Clark mentions that any new Records Management System needs to seamlessly connect to the Fayette County Dispatch – when they get their new system.

It is also interesting to note in this 5 minutes of video that there is not ONE COMMENT by any Council Member, there is never a vote of any type, and Chief Clark never makes a budget request for an New Records Management system. This an overview of one element of a five year plan he has.

From my perspective, it looks like Haddix accusations of what The Citizen said needs to be clarified. Gentlemen, this is not about this election or any other. It about getting the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth from elected officials. A simple budget retreat review of Police Department operations and future needs has been grossly mischaracterized by both Haddix and Allen.

As a matter of fact, in a post late this afternoon Haddix now only says that the Records Management System was presented. Again, he fails to be truthful and admit that the accusations made by he and Allen we untruthful. This is the same pattern misinformation that has so many citizens concerned. Let’s figure out who is not being truthful – I think the facts are there to make that decision.

In most news articles it is common practice to allow all parties to comment on information. Therefore, I am copying the Council and City Management. If you find that I am misinforming in any way please let me know and call me on it. But please use that standard for others. It does not take a lot of time in the scheme of things to do the fact checking – It is a shame that Haddix and Allen would not invest the needed effort so that citizens were working from truth and facts
I think that you also know my belief that media is the fourth branch of government and charged with keeping the other branches honest. I have done most of the leg work – hopefully you will find it useful in fulfilling that role.

Verifiable Facts DAPC

DAPC Money

Claim:
Don Haddix quote in The Citizen: "Just like he claimed, at the Debate, Council [SIC] alloted $7K to DAPC. Totally false claim. It was their money carried over from last year because they didn't have enough to keep meeting and do anything. It was NOT City money given to them."

Fact:
It was proven and confirmed by City staff that DAPC was provided new money in the current budget and that it has already been paid to DAPC.

Verifiable Facts Records Management System

Claim:
Don Haddix quote in The Citizen: “She said the system was not presented to Council. It most assuredly was during the Retreat, which IS the FIRST meeting of the Budget process where Staff presents what it needs and Council advises what it will give. So, saying it was never before Council and handled completely behind the scenes is patently false.”

Background:
A claim by Steve Allen that Eric Imker did not vote to approve a budget request for a Records Management System implying that public safety was put at risk.

Fact:
- Chief Clark presented an overview of the current Records Management System and a vision of where the system needs to go
- Chief Clark never put a specification or plan or price tag on what the new records management system should be
- Chief Clark never made a budget request or even implied in what year of his five year plan a new records system would be requested for consideration by Council
- The Minutes of the meeting do not mention the Records Management System. If there had been discussion by Council, especially a vote, it would be in the approved meeting official Minutes.
- There is a Capital Request Data Sheet that was submitted to City Management in April that is still pending completion as it has not estimated all costs of required components – this project is not ready for Council review.

- Chief Clark’s PowerPoint presentation to Budget Retreat. Records Management review is pages 15 and 16.

Well done, Randy

Both post #98 and #99 lay out all the actual facts instead of the total crap/lies we have seen stated by Haddix, Allen, and to some degree, Dienhart.

Alas, we can only slay one of Team Ghidorah's 3 heads today by squashing Allen, leaving the two heads of Haddix and Deadheart still alive to try and create havoc yet another day. Maybe the destruction of the Allen-head will also wound the Mayor-head, though you can imagine if Allen gets trounced Don is going to say "it sure wasn't about me," though he'd likely have no problem if the opposite is true.

Since Dienhart turned into a Haddixite, who says two heads are better than one? What if they both think identically? Even Sturbaum voted with the other 3 to overrule the Haddix attempt to shutdown Learnard the other night. Jorge might be WORSE.

NUK re Sturbaum

That was interesting that Sturbaum made it 4 to 1 to overrule the Haddix. I was glad to see it but since Doug has been so aligned with Haddix on every vote, it did make me wonder.

The day of the Council Meeting was also, so I hear, the day that depositions were taken for the libel case against Haddix. I have heard a rumor that Sturbaum is the only witness supporting Haddix. Do you think Doug just got ticked for what he was pulled into? He may have been grilled pretty heavily.

I have no insight, but am just curious as something changed.

Libel case deposition

How can Sturnbaum support Haddix's position - which is sure he said what he said but is exempt because Harold was a public figure. Proof of Harold being a public figure a full year after he dropped his campaign for insurance commissioner comes in the form of him actually having a meeting with his old campaign manager. I guess Haddix or his lawyer thinks that because you think you might be thinking about possibly running for office again - voila, you are a public figure. How would you like to be his attorney defending that against Jim Webb, of all people?

All Sturnbaum can possibly say is that he personally did not hear Haddix call Logsdon a drunk. Or maybe he did hear him. You got to believe someone who runs his mouth like Haddix and was dumb enough to put it in an e-mail to a city employee is also dumb enough to say something stupid to his best (and only) buddy on council. So if Sturnbaum said he never heard Haddix say Logsdon was a drunk in front of Sturnbaum, he might have committed perjury. Or he could testify that he saw Logsdon drunk at council meetings and then Haddix would be off the hook because he was telling the truth. But then Logsdon would come after Sturnbaum for libel. Wow, this makes my hair hurt - just thinking about it.

RWM re libel case

Mr. Morgan

I am not sure where I even heard it, but someone thought that Sturbaum was going to support Haddix's accusation. Who knows - all detail will probably be buried is a settlement and we'll never know the real story.

Gosh Randy

I'm glad I'm not a obfuscating, deceptive, paranoid local politician! The mayor must feel like he came out on the wrong side of a MMA match, what with the blows landed by you and Ms. Kim! Ouoooucccch......I think I heard the yowling of a yard gnome echoing across Late Peachtree when your post hit the blog!

I don't know about Dienheart winning though, as I saw a lot of voters today asking the polling people how to spell 'King'!

After your little expose here, I don't know how any of the other council members can bring themselves to sit at the same table as Hizzoner!

Because of your brilliant fact checking, I hereby resign my post as the faux campaign manager of team Ghidorha!

Jorge, turn away from the dark side before it is too late!

Hey, that gives me an idea! Starting tonight or tomorrow, I plan to parody the local political scene using Star Wars as the backdrop! Guess who will be starring as Jabba the Hutt!

Apologies George (Lucas that is)!

May the Force Be With You!

Ghidorah Going Down! At least denying him the third head needed to beat Godzilla!

Dienhart

When you look at who is online, Dienhart was is on - at least he was 45 seconds ago when I looked. I guess he does not have anything to add.

I have actually noticed him on several other times today. We probably should not talk about the Mike King write-in for Post 2.

Imker (not that I wanted too, but), Mickey Mouse and YES..

Those 3 got my votes today. I couldn't in my right mind vote for any candidate that Haddix comes out in favor of. I also thought the letter that he wrote against Imker and his "lies" was just too much for any Mayor to do. Total lack of professionalism.

Mickey Mouse might get a little support, but not enough to take the win. :)

YES was a no brainer in my eyes.

Every vote counts

Someone just forwarded me an email with a quote that I found to really fit the occasion:

“Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote.”

To everyone that voted, thank you. Now I suggest you go door to door to friends and neighbors and let them know what is at risk for Peachtree City. I know how I'd like them to vote - but just vote. it's our country unless we give it up to complacency.

Polls are open until 7 PM.

Hadix job

Either on this thread or another, somebody mentioned that Haddix applied for a job at Peachtree City sometime in the past. Does anyone have any information on that?
