Vigilant

Keep your eyes open; be aware of your surroundings; report any unusual activity. I know you're not suggesting that we should have left Osama alone in his mansion. We are near the largest airport in our country. No time to feel secure. The War on Terror is not over - but the rest of the world is happy the one who claimed the credit for killing Americans on 9/11 is gone.

Now you are back to simply defining a word in order to "punt."

I have always kept my eyes open and aware. What is unusual and report to whom?

Being afraid doesn't help a bit!

Are you for the spying on your phone? That is real vigilance! Are you in favor of showing "papers" at any time? That is vigilance. Are you in favor of SONY knowing where you are and have been and have your SS number and CC number? That is vigilance.

Be aware--dumb!

Sometimes it's common sense to 'punt'. Most of us don't have access to/ or the knowledge of how to use the technology that you mentioned - but we have eyes, we have a sense of something 'out of place' or unusual. Walking around with blinders on may work for you. I think law enforcement is often grateful to those citizens who remain 'aware" and 'alert". Maybe you"re one of those who doesn't want to snitch. Swell. If you want to appear dense - you are succeeding. Congratulations

You sure cleared that one up for me DM! Not

I have seen a lot of Arabs and people dressed oddly but I have never had occasion to snitch! I have seen no bombs!

You must know that in some neighborhoods "snitching" is very dangerous!

We need to do some "real" things to stop terrorists. One thing might be for us to not be terrorists so often!

Running good people out of the country is not the way!

I still don't know what you do that is so different than most people to stop terrorism.

Just forget it, you have always answered in foggy ways when you don't want to talk details. Punting!

Kinda like Atlanta passing students who haven't had a chance to pass a test by proper upbringing and teaching. Who does that help? Teachers and administrators, huh?

One more thought: Do you ever see suspicious looking characters around convenience stores, ATMs, etc., who you "snitch on?" I see a lot of those but I don't report them unless they are in action! A car goes by with 3-4 youths in it, yelling, threateneing, and speakers louder than the law allows and all fenders and front ends crushed in--do you report them?

So what is vigilance by individuals? Last time to ask!

Fogging thinking

You have expertise seemingly on what vigilance is not, I'm hopeful you can share with us what vigilance is. Sometimes one just gets a feeling that something is not 'right'. Instead of sharing some cogent ideas with neighbors, it might be wise to invite experts to a neighborhood meeting to answer questions. I would worry if a neighbor who has never shown much interest in gardening bought an inordinate amount of fertilizer. We both are 'foggy ' on this jssue. Me , because I have limited experience with terrorists. I'm concerned that you seem to want to center attention on Arabs. Our homegrown terrorists are not always Arab. Right?
