BREAKING: Rep. Emanuel Cleaver Earmarks $48 BILLION to Pal Who Runs Child Day Care Center From Home With His Wife

Earlier today it was reported that far left Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) proposed a $48 billion earmark to redistribute taxpayer money to the inner city.
It was the Mother of All Earmarks…
Liberal Rep. Emanuel Cleaver proposed a whopping $48 BILLION EARMARK that would redistribute wealth to the inner cities and gift money to the poor and thereby produce a much larger consumer class to buy the goods and services produced in this country.

More out of control spending by liberals. They love to spend other peoples money, don't they.....

Now Joe really is this a problem?

CHR will be here shortly to tell you it is only a drop in the bucket. Something like 3%. That it doesn't mean anything.

Mother of All Earmarks?

Try 1.1 Trillion Omnibus stuffed full of Earmarks. That's $1,100,000,000,000.00. A Trillion here...a Trillion there,,,pretty soon we are talking real money. Make them read it while the people find out. Shut it down, whatever it takes. What we are witnessing is the deliberate destruction of our country. Congress is full of traitors and they should be charged with TREASON http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treason. This WILL NOT STAND. -GP

Earmarks:

From the Peach Pundit:

Quote:

Senate Republicans will vote tomorrow on a moratorium on earmarks, line-items requested by members of both chambers of Congress for their home state or district. Twenty-four votes are needed to pass the moratorium. According to Taxpayers Against Earmarks, 20 Senators have expressed support for the proposal. Absent from the list are Saxby Chambliss, who received $90,785,000 in earmarks in FY 2010, and Johnny Isakson, who received $65,943,000.

Oops! We're watching.

Yes RINOS included DM

Earmarks have become synonymous with fraud and corruption. Now being fair there are earmarks that are needed and would assist those receiving them.
BUT the problem is that a large majority of those earmarks are for Bridges to no where or wine trains etc.

Earmarks and porkulus bills have to stop. America is broke
B-R-O-K-E as in we are out of money. Well real money anyway.

The spending must cease. If it is outside the boundaries of the 18 enumerated powers then those expenditures should justified to the American people. It is our money after all.

RINOS

Not sure what the term "RINO" means any more since "Republican In Name Only" seems to imply that Repubs have a consistent philosophy of some sort and the RINO's go against that. I'm close to the big 50, and the Repub party in my lifetime has never had a consistent political philosophy as it relates to government spending at least or government's role in this country, which seems to be this subject. They have consistent talking points when running for election but a track record that speaks otherwise.

Some would call Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins "RINO's" but if anyone thinks that the Repub party is so exclusive that they should go, I have bad news for you: Olympia Snowe for years has been the most popular politician in history with approval ratings sometimes above 90%! She serves Maine extremely well according to the voters and she did everything she could to stall and delay Obamacare as the administration and Congress all thought she was moderate enough to swing their way, which she didn't.

Once the Repubs get over the totally laughable and asinine idea that Reagan was "conservative" and prove that they REALLY believe in limited government all-around from spending, size and control, THEN maybe you start openly trying to kick-out RINOS. As Marco Rubio stated very well in his victory speech last month "this is our second chance with the American public." Rubio gets it.

Repubs and the TP have an opportunity right now to walk the talk. If they go down the road of CRAP like Huckabee or Palin or any flake that comes along a la O'Donnell or Angle, it will be all for naught and they can watch more Dems take office in 2012 as the voters hold their nose and vote for someone who has at least half a brain and happens to be a Dem.

Exactly right, NUK. Repubs need to grow a spine

And now after Prezbo and his lame duck handmaidens have pushed it as far as they can in front of an amazed American audience, Republicans have a chance to really act as if they are truly conservative. These are times where strong leadership is needed and it woud be great if some of the younger conservatives emerged and started leading this country down the path of responsible financial management. The Republicans have been given 2 years (once again) to prove they are the grownups in the room. Then in 2012 they could easily control all 3 branches of government with people like Rubio and Jindal having a huge role.

Or they could screw it up taking their eye of the ball like they did last time they had a similar chance - in 1995.
Nominating Palin or Huckabee is a great way to give Prezbo a second term.

I know you didn't ask me but for my p art, I would like to see Jon Huntsman, Jr in the mix somewhere. Rubio needs more seasoning; Jindalmay be good VP choice. Sent from chilly Bozeman, Montana!

Cold in Bozeman; Hot in 2012 DC

Check out the weather before you take a trip, Gym.

I love Jindal as a President, VP or just a pot stirrer, like Palin.
Rubio would be a better President than any of the last 4. And more like the one 5 back.
Gingrich, Palin, McCain, Romney, Brown, McConnel, Boener, Steel - all losers. Need someone younger.

So, Rubio/Jindal in 2012 beats Obama/Clinton (yes she will run after saying she won't, she lies a lot). Maybe we get some common sense back to Washington.
