The 2011 Citizen Blog Inflation Prediction Challenge
Laws are created by congress through the house of representatives, not by executive orders, czars, or judges. We must elect congressional representatives that believe in the constitution and are willing to enforce it. Individuals must be informed and change government thru the ballot box. This is how individuals use the "light" to solve the problem. Honesty and intergrity must be restored in both government and the private sector. We must dismantle the unconstitutional beast that has been created by evil-doers. Evil will not stand in the light of the truth. -GP
Laws are created by congress through the House of Representatives, not by executive orders, czars, or judges.
Where is the senate in this picture? We have had presidents use executive orders since the days of Lincoln, and czars have been used since before the Bush days.
You are well versed in the creation of law, the process. The neo-conservative view of The Constitution appears to be 'exclusive'. The 'light', IMO, is the vote. . . and unfortunately the citizens of this country have allowed those with money (individual donations to candidates), and large corporations to dictate who will run for office, who the public will hear, who will have television time, etc., etc., etc. We are pleased when 40% of the eligible voters turn up at the voting booth. The 'beast' can be dismantled by the citizen vote. We agree on the necessity for the restoration of honesty and integrity. Excluding citizens who don't agree with your ideology is not a solution to our problems. ALL CITIZENS MUST VOTE - and in a democracy - all will abide by the majority decision until when and if it is found UNCONSTITUTIONAL. That's the way it works. The slaves on a plantation never had a vote.
with your statement: "We have had presidents use executive orders since the days of Lincoln, and czars have been used since before the Bush days." My reply is that doing something unconstitutional many times for many years does not make it constitutional! Per the Constitution the Senators represent the States, they do not make law, that is reserved for the House of Representatives. And we ARE NOT A DEMOCRACY! -GP
The House of Representatives proposes a ''bill'. The 'bill' does not become a law without the approval of the Senate and the President. The President may veto a proposed bill - and then the Congress must override his/her veto. Whatever you want to call it - that is how a proposed 'bill' becomes law in the United States. You're not as knowledgeable as I thought! Scary that one so misinformed feels that he/she has all the answers.
Check this out:
I know EXACTLY how a bill becomes law. What is UNCONSTITUTIONAL IS THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH CREATING LAW! The JUDICIARY BRANCH DOES NOT CREATE LAW! All unconstitutional acts must be reigned in and the UNCONSTITUTIONAL beast dismantled. -GP
Whatever. You didn't exactly explain the making of a law in your contribution - I can only go by your words. You sound so much like Limbaugh and crew. The Supreme Court has and will decide the constitutionality of any action of the Executive Branch.. . . not the ideology of the neo-conservatives.
You missed the target. I have more in common with Ron Paul than Rush. As far as being a neocon, I have never quite bought into the nation bldg thing, or for that matter legalizing all drugs. Guess you could say I am a conservative/libertarian/freedom loving blend. -GP
LOL. Thanks for the clarification.
.............BOOM!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! -GP
you can still have a vote and slavery too, just look around you. There are 43 million people who do not pay taxes in America. Why should they have the right to vote to steal our money? In fact, why should anyone that works for government have the right to vote? It is a conflict of interest to vote yourself provision at the expense of someone else. It is also dishonest because it is robbery through force of law.
Our representative government is no longer representative of those that create wealth, it is representative of those that divide us into special interests, steal our individual independence, and government created monopoly for poltical gain.
We are slaves to the government whether you acknowledge this or not, it is still the truth. And the truth shall set us free. I can't wait for 2012.
I am sure you are a very nice woman, but you are naive.
He hasn't paid taxes in some time. Guess by your definition, he shouldn't vote. Interesting concept - but not Constitutional. RW should be disenfranchised because he planned well and was responsible with his earnings? Nice try PTC Observer. I'm not at all naive - just aware of the consequences of some neo-conservative proposals
that Mr. Morgan hasn't paid taxes says more about our tax system than it does about Mr. Morgan.
So because he (RW) followed the rules, invested wisely and legally, and lives within his budget - he should be disenfranchised? Wow!! Here is an example of our system allowing one to keep his/her own earnings - and you want to punish the individual and/or change the system? If you're not a neo-conservative - how do you classify your beliefs?
New Year.
We'll get back to your question next year.
I hope you and yours have a wonderful new year.
You did not refudiate my evil-doers! LOL -GP
Too shocked by PTC''S interpretation on how a 'law' is made in the United States. Civics 101. Evil doers can be found wearing many different labels - right?
"It is the 'individualism' in the doctrine that I can't agree with"
That's exactly what I thought you would say and am not surprised. Being a dependent on the government is a terrible thing, once you have had your freedom taken it is a frightening prospect to get it back.
We have given up one plantation system for another.
Notwithstanding your excellent cut and paste job, it does not define neo-conservatives. Neo-conservatives believe in most of the things that you write here, but they put God (usually Jesus) above all else and look to His word to guide them in pursuit of government goals of Life, Liberty, and Property.
. .and 'others' who believe don't put God first? See my response to Mudcat. With the passage of the Civil Rights Act - and women and minorities taking advantage of the opportunities - the 'plantation' is not still in the hands of the 'white male/female'. This is difficult for some to understand. There are conservative Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and Atheists etc. (I guess you don't include them as neo-conservatives.) As long as the neo-conservatives 'segregate' themselves - they will be left to themselves. No one in my family is 'dependent' on government in these United States. We are no longer stifled by 'segregation' - and ' ignorance'. My family founded a financial institution in 1921 here in Georgia, which is still operating today. It was founded to assist black people to remain independent of government and become self-reliant utilizing their own money and community resources. Educated 'blacks' have long been financially conservative. The lack of conservative financial responsibility is an American problem that has led to our current economic situation. Conservatives, working together, have much to offer. Neo-conservatives, by your own definition have excluded many conservative Americans. Many 'blacks' are proud of their Christian heritage. Jesus stated in the Bible - Love your neighbor as yourself. The word for charity in the time of Jesus was also the word for 'love'. There are many blacks who refute the plantation system, which was established for years in our country. Is our 'freedom' from this system being viewed as the demise of your (neo-conservative) freedom?
We are all slaves to the government, even you.
We all work on the government plantation, all except those that live freely off others' labor. They are the new slaveholders and we work against our will for the "general welfare". The key phrase here is "against our will".
Your definition of freedom is different than mine, this is an area of disagreement between us.
We all work on the government plantation, all except those that live freely off others' labor. They are the new slaveholders and we work against our will for the "general welfare"
Very interesting statement which I feel I don't completely understand, Please explain further, I ask this not to debate - but truly to understand. Thanks.
What I mean by this statement is that we are forced laborers to those that have been deemed to be worthy of our toil. They allow us to exist in order to produce for them. Much like the slaveholders of old, they allow us a certain level of "comfort" in our lives, but only in order to serve their interests. Those that pay nothing into the system and create nothing are our new slaveholders because we pay them against our will.
We are forced labor, slaves, to the government's will and for the "general welfare".
Either you believe that we are free as individuals or you agree with the new slaveholders and will keep us enslaved to them. The choice is yours, but based on your many posts I believe that you are simply one of our masters. I can't wait for 2012.
Thanks. I'll work hard for the neo-conservative platform to be defeated in 2012. . . and I'm not alone.
me too, I am not a neo-conservative.
I know you are not alone, there are millions of you out there. And I might add you are all wrong.
Do you support this man? http://www.hermancain.com/default.asp I would stand with him anytime. Slavery comes in many forms, some more obvious than others. Slavery of all types is evil, we should all stand together to fight it. -GP
This is an excellent example of admiration - yet not approval. I am very aware of his policies and positions - and I meet with his wife once a month. I admire both of them - but do not approve of HIS politics. This is also a good example of two very diverse opinions coming together to find where they have common ground and doing what is best for the American people. Again, one ideology does not have the answer to all of our problems in this country. When one speaks of 'slavery' - yet wishes to exclude others in the solution to problems, progress is hindered. (I do not mean to imply that her political views are different from his by any means - but we are able to communicate without rancor.)
What does he believe that you disagree with? -GP
"As long as the neo-conservatives 'segregate' themselves - they will be left to themselves."
What about organizations like the Congressional Black Caucus and Concerned Black Clergy? These groups have chosen to segregate themselves by race.
THE WOMEN'S CAUCUS, THE HISPANIC CAUCUS, THE CATHOLIC CLERGY ORGANIZATIONS, ETC. ETC. ETC.
THE WHITE CITIZENS COUNCIL, NEO-CONSERVATIVES. IT'S ALL GOOD. Now when they all work together for the American people - we're in good hands!
Segregation, no matter which group, is still segregation.
You decry segregation, yet when I point out black segregationists, you throw up white separatist groups like the White cititizens council as another example. THEY ARE BOTH SEGREGATIONIST GROUPS, "David's Mom".
You say it's ALL GOOD?!?! Unbelievable. I used to think you were just ignorant. Now I know for sure that you are a racist.
End of conversation, DM. Good Day.
End of conversation, DM.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Happy New Year to you too.
Davids mom,... What does Herman Cain say that you disagree with??
Davids mom,... What does Herman Cain say that you disagree with??
I am curious also. Herman is pretty clear in his views, wonder what the problem is? -GP
Some of his solutions to identified problems. He is extremely intelligent - and more 'moderate' than many care to admit. He will bring a good balance to the discussion in the 2012 presidential campaign. He is an astute politician - and is correctly feeling out his 'base'. As this year passes, it will be interesting to see what his solutions will be to current problems.
by a clueless blogger: 4%
I hate being the last post. Repositioned in the thread.
3.2% over last YEAR and we are not even into the worst seasons for inflationary concerns. Remember June 30th is coming.
Nah inflation is not happening.
Keep printing money.
Keep slowing the permit process for oil companies.
Keep putting more areas off-limits to that oil exploration.
Keep burning our food in the Ethanol debacle.
Official government final inflation numbers for the first quarter of 2011 were released this morning (5/13/2011) by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The official annualized rate of inflation for 2011 through one quarter is 3.2% (rounded) LINK so the winner for the first quarter in the "adult league" (closest without going over) is MIKE KING with 3.18%
Three months have gone by, only nine more to go!
Inflation accelerated to its fastest annual pace in two and a half years in April, as surging gas prices continued to hit American consumers.
The Consumer Price Index, the government's key inflation measure, rose 3.2% over the last 12 months ended April 30, according to Friday's report from the Labor Department. It was the biggest 12-month jump since October 2008.
http://money.cnn.com/2011/05/13/news/economy/cpi_inflation/index.htm
"More expensive grain has led to food price increases this year. It could ultimately make everything from beef to cereal to soft drinks more expensive at the supermarket. For all of 2011, the USDA predicts food prices will rise 3 percent to 4 percent."
Well inflation will be higher. It would be nice if bacon was around so we can call him on it. I'm kind of worried that something has happened to him.
Don't go naming the devil he always shows up.
Conversational debate is Most of the time impossible with him.
Wow! I'm in good company with Doug, Cyclist, Mike King, and T-Man! If only pay was keeping pace! Interesting information along with the news about our economy as of today. Hiring moving up - layoffs moving down. But our economy is not dependent on US alone. Many are still holding their breath! As an educator, pleased with Deal's priorities for Georgia budget. Sick of seeing the use of 'code' words from the '60's being used in GOP. Blacks are not the largest users of taxpayers money for 'welfare' in this country. - yet this erroneous belief seems to appeal to some Americans. Sad. Todays economic news is good for all Americans - we're still nervous and learning the hard way that its not spend, spend, spend that improves our economy, but produce, produce, produce! Santorum has hurt himself big time - we'll see what happens in New Hampshire.
According to Bacon's rules, we were to use BLS numbers. The latest BLS numbers are from Nov. 2010 through Nov. 2011. We will have to wait until Jan. 19 I believe for the Dec.-Dec. numbers. The Nov.-Nov. numbers from the BLS website show total inflation at 3.4% and total inflation less food and energy at 2.2%.
==========================================================================
The all items index has risen 3.4 percent over the last 12 months. This is a slightly smaller increase than last month’s 3.5 percent figure, as the 12-month change in the energy index declined from 14.2 percent to 12.4 percent. The 12-month change in the food index also declined slightly, from 4.7 percent to 4.6 percent. In contrast, the 12-month change in the index for all items less food and energy continued to rise, reaching 2.2 percent in November.
==========================================================================
So, by these figures, I would say Mike King is closest. Sorry D-Mom!
Do you think Editor Cal will free Bacon anytime soon?
I surely wish that Bacon/Sniffles/etc would return, but you may be on to something. Cal may very well have a secret, black ops type, detention facility on loan from Chaney. In which case our pal Bacon may be living in his personal Hell with Bonker$ as his only object of conversation.
Can the Falcons defense keep Manning under 35 points? If so, they'll win.
I think Bacon got thrown in the detention facility before Editor Cal unleashed a wholesale pogrom against suspected stealth bloggers triggered by the Greenbelt incident. I think I was caught up in this, or perhaps I was too harsh on a couple of the regular contributors with my throwing star attacks, as I was put on the 'review for editorial approval' list several times and outright prevented form posting as well! I now seem to be back on the good list--Thanks EC!
As for the Falcons, I think they can certainly keep the Giants under 35 points. Its' the Giant's front four that I am worried about. I think they are going to have to run lots of double tight-end sets and have running back help to keep those guys away from Matty! I still say Giants by 3, much to my dismay!
by the editor is generally automatically triggered by key words in the post.
I assume your posts have had a few of these.
My guess on Bacon is that he just went over the top with personal attacks both on those on this board and the editor.
Luckily we still have a free press and private ownership of this board. Something that you enjoy on a daily basis.
No, I never use any prohibited key words in my posts--my language is as clean as clean can get! I think I was under suspicion during the Greenbelt caper, but who knows. Anyway, it looks like I am free again to poke fun at posts that need poking fun at!
I have noticed that you have been posting late in the day recently--you having to work a double shift at the Piggly Wiggly in Woodbury these days to make the Malibu payment?
pay too much attention when I post, surprisingly I don't stay on your time zone very much. You can see that I post your time when you're fast asleep many times. Sometimes it's the other way around.
Piggly Wiggly? I owned the stock many years ago and made some money on it. I don't have any real estate in Malibu but if you have a lead on some good property let me know.
Meanwhile you need to get back to your bookkeeping, remember to save some money for your retirement, college for those kids of yours can be an expensive drain on your funds.
LSU or Alabama Ninja? I say LSU runs away with it.
I say LSU, but not a runaway. Nick won't stand for that! LSU by 3, perhaps 6 or 7.
the problem arises when government intervenes and does not allow poor business practices to fail, or when government protects the corrupt. Of course there should be laws against corruption, in both the private and public sector.
Who makes/enforces these 'laws'? Individuals? Please define the light of truth shining brightly on the problem - and how individuals use that 'light' to solve the problem.
