If you Think Our Justice System was a Mess Before

Try sitting in on Judge McMillan's court (new Magistrate judge). My daughter is a Criminal Justice student. When she has time, she goes and sits in on some of the court proceedings. I have accompanied her on some of her trips to the courts. On the times that we sat in McMillan's court, we were completely appalled! She is WAY too easy on the criminals! Fayette County is in BIG TROUBLE!

I would support Judge Wong McMillan
I would support Judge Wong McMillan. First of all, she did not replace Judge Caldwell; she replaced Judge Sams.
Gone are the days when there is any respect in any direction. The public thinks court is like Judge Judy where you can just mouth off indiscriminately. Funny how I have also heard complaints that she was too harsh in sentencing.
She is a good judge. She is learning.

'the little people pay the fines' that is the way it is. There is no 'equal' justice.
For the vast majority of us, the legal system is a cash cow and you are guilty the minute the ticket is written. To let you walk away would mean less money for the coffers...that isn't going to happen.
Actually for me, living here has been a total disappointment. You pay high taxes thinking you can send you kids to the public schools. That whole concept has been trashed by the special interest and view point of what was the controlling group for so long on the board. People are home schooling and putting their kids in private. A lot of that has todo with the out of county bunch. They are disruptive, but excused. Makes a total joke out of the people who moved here n pay the high taxes.
Then there are the fines and rules that are not applied equally...cause someone has their head up someone of influences butt.
I'm just waiting for the prices to go up to the point I can get my money back out of this dive and I'm moving and writing this off as an extremely bad experience.

As a judge, one FOLLOWS THE LAW - making judgements based on the law - not their personal opinion. It is the defense lawyers responsibility to present a case that proves the innocence of his client. It is the prosecutors responsibility to present a case that proves the accused guilty. The more I hear - the more I feel this citizen of Fayette County has upheld the dignity of the court and followed the law. I was concerned by comments made in this forum that she was tied to the 'right'. When she has displeased both sides - she, IMO, is doing her job. You need a better lawyer.

I have known people who like to stand round a mortuary funeral of someone they don't know, but you are the first court junkie I have heard from!
There are about a hundred"cop" shows on TV, including crime scene fat men and women who get assigned to that detail, (they can't run), but I'll bet you already watch them!

Comissioner Horgan's dog vs mine
No, I think it is a Fayette county deal. I just went to dog court..they dug up tickets from 6 years ago where Tyrone had got me for 2 dogs. That is wrote me a ticket for each dog. So then they doubled it automatically.
It is my understanding that Horgan had got 3 tickets within a week this past Feb, went to court and wasn't fined the same way I was.
That is justice in Fayette county for you.
Much to my disgust, I read the minutes of the Tyrone town hall this week to find out one of the town councils dog got out and the police took it home and baby sat it while he was out of town on vacation. It seems he thanked them in the closing minutes.
There is "selective" justice. If you are old and on a fixed income...you pay thru the nose either place, if you hold an office ...you pay nothing.
Fayette justice.

You may have been sitting in on cases where there truly was not a lawful crime. A lawful crime is when you have a true injured pary or property damage = common law. Common law has somehow been lost in our court systems today and taken over by unlawful practices.. . . . . . think about it? Which do you prefer? I prefer lawful courts.

What? Common law was replaced with statutory law for criminal law. None of the definitions in this statement make any sense.
Carla Wong McMillian definitely doesn’t care about following the law to protect citizens. Appointed by Governor Perdue to finish the term of ousted Judge Johnny Caldwell, Carla Wong McMillian took office in Oct 2010 and immediately went soft on criminal code violations as well as civil law.
As a lawyer Carla Wong McMillian was extreme liberal, championing the rights of minorities. That’s fine when you’re a lawyer, but as a judge you are supposed to be neutral. But Judge Wong McMillian has brought the liberal bias into the courtroom even to the extent of reverse discrimination.
Her actions have been so unethical as to rise to willful misconduct. I sure hope a fine person runs against her. Carla Wong McMillian is definitely not someone you want to be your judge.
