"Pay no attention to the men behind the curtain"
The nation could definitly use a sensible grass roots movement to get back to a sane way of governance, but this ain't it. A major dose of awareness would be a big help. The general public got of lot of education, but intelligence, not so much.
oops
they haven't gotten to kill a few more Military personnel lately.
I suppose George Soros is not Rich nor behind the Left strategy.
"Obama White House Full Of Chicago Millionaires"

Hmmm where do I get mine from the Billionaires controlling our branch of the Teaparty?
I promise not bring up the Koch Bro's or the Coors spending their money to maintain their status quo (or get richer) & you won't mention Soros spending his money to make everyone's life better. Really, What's in IT for him?
An example of what you get when you pander to the fringes:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/18/odonnell-witchcraft-politically...
She's sure to lose now because the masterbators have line up against her. There are only 2 kinds of people in this world.. Those that Do & Say They Don't AND Those that Do & Say They Do. Which side are U on? Tell the truth
If the Tea Party is going to have any kind of staying power and success, it cannot nominate complete flakes like O'Donnell, who is a terrible candidate in so many ways. Karl Rove nailed this one right away and while everyone is seemingly mad at the Repubs as they are the Dems, the TP throwing up some dreck like O'Donnell accomplishes nothing, besides making it rather clear that they don't have the answers either. The "any warm body" approach is just as flawed as re-electing the establishment over and over.
I personally will take any warm body over the corruption we have in the Congress. I would even take you, just run I'll vote for you over any Republican or Democratic "regular" they put on the ballot.
Here's your warm body, Observer... good luck with this lunatic:
O'Donnell: "I dabbled into witchcraft. I never joined a coven...I hung around people who were doing these things. I'm not making this stuff up...One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it. I mean, there's a little blood there and stuff like that. We went to a movie and then had a little midnight picnic on a satanic altar."
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/8012190/Tea-P...
What? A little experimentation with witchcraft and all of a sudden we start to think that she will be using a Ouija board as a consultant? No wonder the Tea Party feels picked on.
A witch?
Well is she honest?
I will take a honest witch depending on who's running against her.
Let's see Coons, what about him? Well Harry likes him a lot:
"I'm going to be very honest with you — Chris Coons, everybody knows him in the Democratic caucus. He's my pet. He's my favorite candidate," Harry Reid, September 14, 2010
So, he must be an upstanding guy.
Guess the people of Delaware will have to choose?
No. afraid she isn't honest!
Wouldn't pay for her school debts until forced; nor her taxes; nor her house!
Won't work--bums.
Ideal TEA candidate but not much of a republican even!
However there are several yellow dogs running around in Delaware who might run!
Maybe Mr. Deal would move there quickly----they wouldn't know him!
Defective personality, perfect for the job.
Rupert Murdoch has caused much of the polarization between democracy and the far right with his FOX "show," there is little "news" there.
Now it is easy to see that CNN, a great invention and service until they had to compete with FOX, they now have begun to indicate polarization toward the left side.
Much of this terrible propaganda going on is financed by Murdoch and the Koch brothers, oil zillionaires of old. Zoros also helps with CNN but his is more donations to good causes. Murdoch's money all is to influence managers and announcers at FOX to prostitute themselves, along with a horse stall out back of cheap women who assist in many ways.
Most of this sort of influence was started by the Duponts against FDR to stop Social Security in the 30s, child labor laws, etc.
he John Birch Society joined in next with their weird proclamations.
Then Goldwater chipped in against JFK.
Now the so-called TEA party: named for being Taxed Enough Already, and harping about Obama spending all of our money, when Reagan and Bush accumulated 85% of our current debt as republicans! This is OK though to the TEAS since debt is OK for the benefit of corporations and their taxes and "those who provide jobs!"
Now we have three groups of consequence: Democrats, Republicans, Fringes---most currently break-a-way Republicans as TEAS running as Republicans.
They want in addition to tax cuts for corporations the destruction of public schools, no regulations on corporations, banks, and other sordid ventures, are against laborers having any say-so, would provide no welfare or unemployment payments, for Christians only, and against women's rights as women, and certainly against elderly people who aren't wealthy.
It is necessary to be vigilant about those in government who stay too long and become manifest destiny types, as well as those who want to please everyone without a plan! That is why we vote often, however if wealthy people's money has too much influence and intelligent humans will work for them by prostituting their ideals and individual thoughts for a good job, then we must also coral those self-interests.
Well I didn't know you had it in you. You actually were able to write a relatively coherent essay.
One small snippet I can agree with "It is necessary to be vigilant about those in government...."
What do you mean? There are scores of "coherent esssays" on here by I!
OK ....
If you say so...just keep posting.
When presented with a keyboard, even an Orangutan can spell a word every now and then.
many coherent essays on this site is still another one of the "entitites" or did our esteemed linguist make a grammatical boo boo??
He's playing with us, it's pretty easy to see this. However, people that play this type of game usually are only marginally educated and are hiding it.
He may come around, but I suppose in his own way he's just having fun.
I must admit he had me going for the first few weeks I was posting, I thought he was a complete idiot. Clearly he is not. He's just not too interested in taking the time to communicate effectively.
But that's what makes the world interesting there are all types of people out there.
Not trying to communicate-----just educate! I am a margin person however. I am on my 2,242 book read. Nearly all of the Congressional Record, The Federalist Papers in their entirety, The Bible in original script, both old and new, and the faked translations of both by cliques and clans of the monks who interpreted it for money, leaving out what was wanted to be left out!
I think they are called Cannons!
I did gradeate 3rd grad wif jethroe thoughe! Kin rede un writ! You Snob.
Snob? Now that's not like you, is it?
Got your number, bye for now.
Cannons are those big guns that go boom.
We know you read the bible in it's original script--you did do the editing, didn't you?
Why not lighten up a little and read something for fun, like War and Peace?
See, you couldn't help but reply again to satire!
Cannons---right! Have you ever read the gnostic Gospels? The ones left out by the Cannonomic dupers! (built by a committee)
Two more here can you find them?
pulling our leg (and he will probably say I should have used are instead of is but since they are all encased in one brain-----). I do think he considers himself an essayist and poet. What is not aware to people who only check here occasionally is that he takes a position on an issue and when someone posts something championing the same position he takes a position that is diametrically opposed to his previous one. I can just hear that argument going on in his head----"Yes I am, no I'm not, yes you are, no you're not--am not, am too." Can you imagine living in the same house with this guy? Unless, as I have said before, he is a yes dear, no dear Mr. Milquetoast at home and vents (no pun intended) all that pent up energy and emotion here for our pleasure. Whatever the reason, he is like that uncle we all kinda, sorta love who has to disagree with everyone, likes to play practical jokes that fall flat, annoys everyone and then does something half way nice that redeems him--and after all he is married to sweet, long, suffering Aunt Gertie, who is beloved by all.
You have absolutely nailed it MYTMITE, CHR$ is very entertaining. Sort of like DM but different. I have learned not to take many posters too literally or seriously on here, just like they don’t take me seriously. I think most are basically confused with facts that don’t come from government sources.
However, when I feel strongly about something I will go after them with facts. I miss Lindsey; he (she?) is so good at collecting factual information to refute the “Progressive” element.
It is amazing to me still how our opinions are shaped so much by our early teaching. I am a product of public schools and it took 40 years of independent study to find out that there is another view out there besides the government view. In the process, I have earned three degrees and I have discovered a new world that I never knew existed following my public “education”.
If you would like to view the basis of the classical liberal view and The Philosophy of Liberty, please visit.

Good try but no cigar.
Come to think about it I thought it was a bit snobby to call you "marginally educated"
You are correct, I apologize. I have no idea whether he (she?) is marginally educated, I only have his (her) posts. You make your own assessment.
I am looking forward to being convinced that he (she?) can make a lucid written argument.
Just call me a defender of the written word and unused intellectual potential, or just a snob.
Making grammatical errors intentionally? It's obvious that your best attribute is your density.
Now go take your meds!
Obama was a member of a Black Libeation Theology church and listened to racist, anti-American, hate-filled rhetoric for 20 years. I suppose that isn't dangerous?
If George W. Bush had doubled the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had criticized a state law that he admitted he never even read, would you think that he is just an ignorant hot head?
If George W. Bush joined the country of Mexico and sued a state in the United States to force that state to continue to allow illegal immigration, would you question his patriotism and wonder who's side he was on?
If George W. Bush had put 87000 workers out of work by arbitrarily placing a moratorium on offshore oil drilling on companies that have one of the best safety records of any industry because one company had an accident would you have agreed?
If George W. Bush had used a forged document as the basis of the moratorium that would render 87000 American workers unemployed would you support him?
If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a "TelePrompter" installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?
If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the nonexistent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had stated that there were 57 states in the United States , would you have said that he is clueless?
If George W. Bush would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics would benefit him walking out his front door in Texas , would you have thought he was a self important, conceited, egotistical jerk?
If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" ("the 5th of 4"?) in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the "Cinco de Mayo" (the 5th of May), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?
If George W. Bush had misspelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoes as proof of what a dunce he is?
If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?
If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?
If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?
If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have approved.
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
So, tell me again, what is it about Barrack Hussein Obama (mmmm....mmmm....mmm) that makes him so brilliant and impressive?
Can't think of anything?
Don't worry.
He's done all this in 21 months -- you still have 25 months to come up with an answer.
Every bumble is a matter of record and completely verifiable.
You keep putting this same insignificant bellowing on here and I won't reply again except for the religious one:
I never minded Nixon's Shaker and quivery so-called religion (he really didn't have any); nor Kennedy's bought off Catholic religion, nor Carter's country Baptist leanings, nor Reagan's and Lincoln's lack of any, Nor all those Deists at the beginning, nor Romney's Smith Tablet religion, nor Palin's Holy Roller religion, nor Johnson's hypocrite religion, nor Eisenhower's West Point mandatory non-sectarian religion, nor Bush's semi-catholic (all is always forgiven all the time) religion, nor Clinton's whatever it takes religion, nor thieving, robbing, un-principled crooks we have around here who attend some kind of self-salvation churches.
I could have just said that religion has no place in Washington or Atlanta.
Just another incoherent brain fart from CHR$
You really have a hard time understanding plain English!
You deal in philosophy, but not in true facts that are distasteful of your philosophy!
Philosophers long ago made up their minds as to what the "straight-line" was and they stick to it, under all circumstances, in order to not be called a "waffler," that is you, as it is with many PhDs we now have in our midst (not that you are one). New facts of which you weren't aware are useless.
What ever happened to Muddle anyway. Is he OK?
These blogs have brought out many situations that would never be printed otherwise. Call what we all say what you will, but it serves more than one purpose.
In my opinion we have at least two or three people on here who have "come-out," recently. Something they would never have done without this space.
I have no wish to socialize with that group but I do hope that they themselves have a better opinion of themselves for doing so. The banning of such behavior has been revoked nearly everywhere and is no longer the law. The religious connotations of it is their concern only. However I don't wish to hear about it too often, no more than I do religious fanatics who feel obligated to have everyone act just like they do!
Let's continue debating facts without hate.
I don't hate you. I just have absolutely no respect for you and don't think you have a clue as to what you speak of.
have 'come out' on this blog. I really doubt, if 'those people' you are referring are gays, they need this forum to come out or have a better opinion of themselves. Was it all your encouraging remarks that gave them that better opinion? Gee, I always thought you did not attend the coffee meetings because we did not meet your critera as to intellect, etc, now I wonder if it is because some of us might be gay? Could you please let us know just how many times a week it would be okay to post about being gay, our religion or maybe which restaurants we prefer? Maybe even in your order of preference. After all we want "You all", and I am not referring to the Southern connotation, to be happy.
I can't imagine what you mean "by those people who you were referring"? What people are you "referring."
I wasn't "referring" anyone nor to anyone! They "referred" themselves!
Coffee: Trust. (total freedom of comment only comes with anonymity) If your coffee friend says something incorrect, very much sugar coating is necessary to comment!
Other posts: don't be boring and naive with them.
Restaurants & religion: certainly boring; most have dumb knowledge of it.
Rove nailed it w/ his Faux News hat on but as a Repubnut strategist & con$ultin' biz welcomed her to the party. This unholy deal w/ the Devil RAYguns made w/ the "chriStain right / Morass Majority" just proves religion & politics don't mix. Where is his Big Tent? Rove certainly woke up the next day & remembered "Don't speak evil of another R" Too bad there is no place in this new party for Edward Brooke, Mike Castle, Lincoln Chafee, Nelson Rockefeller, John Lindsey.. Nixon couldn't win the primary today. Not even w/ a good dirty trick.
but neither could Ted Kennedy win the primary.
So, here we are two extremes and no one is even trying to bring the country together. Not even our great leader.
Here's my analysis:
The Tea Party enthusiasm is the major threat to the Democratic candidates so there is going to be a massive effort the bring them down to Earth. The video of Christine O'Donnell describing worshiping on a satanic alter with blood all around it is going to be exploited by the Ds from now until the election. And why not? It plays directly into the Dem. Party strategy of promoting the kookiest aspects of the fringe Tea Party candidates then painting them with a broad brush all across the whole Tea Party.
On the other hand, insurgent political forces very rarely take over in a single election. Assuming the best for the Ds, the Rs barely miss taking the House. That's really the best the Ds can hope for in their dreams. That still is a huge shift; certainly enough to keep the Tea Party going through 2012. Can anybody think that the Teas are not going to be the major players in 2012?
The other major aspect of insurgent political forces is that they attract fringe groups. Fringe groups migrate toward any movement that is unorganized and threatens the status quo. So you've got a major political movement and then you've got the inevitable fringe groups grasping on. Completely predictable. Of course the other Party attacks the fringe element but that's also predictable and, in fact, real and on-going now.
This election sets the stage for the next one. Before that, the newly elected Teas in Congress will form some kind of organization or caucus and develop a coherent Tea Party structure. In 2012 there will be just about a zero chance that the Tea Party will have to settle for the fringiest unvetted candidates. Their problem is going to be picking from the abundance of candidates.
Radical realignment of political parties and structures is fascinating. The fun is just beginning.
carbonunit52, I think the nation already has a sensible grass roots movement. It’s called the Democratic Party. With all its flaws, it’s still the only party willing to help the working man and women of the US of A.
The Republican Party is turning into social Darwinist and the Teaparty behaves like Pavlov’s dogs for their billionaire masters and media jackals.
I guess raising taxes on them is helping them?
Like they don't own stocks?
Like they don't make income?
Like they don't drive cars that use oil?
Like they don't have jobs that are being driven overseas by burdensom government regulations? Oh, that one may be a mistaken question.
Let's be honest, neither party has proven to be a friend of the average working man and woman. They only position themselves with neo-capitalist companies to get re-elected on the backs of all of us.
Start looking for another party if you want a party for the working man and woman pal.
PTC Observer, I think you just made my point about Pavlov’s dogs,...'pal'.
think so.
Facts are stubborn things.
PTC Observer, really, you think not? Then read your own response to Sugarfoot’s serious, (and I think,) from the heart blog entry on this same thread. Do you really believe that Sugarfoot’s grief could be diminished by adding some right wing revisionist history book of fiction to the old reading list? Ha, you just can’t help yourself can you?
Does that “PTC” in your handle stand for Peachtree City, or “Pavlov's Teaparty Canine?”
In my opinion, the present Democratic Party is too spineless to be an effective antidote to the Republican agenda. If they had the enthusiasim of the Republicans and the Tea Party that would be something, because the elections that they lose will be a matter of voter turnout, which is a pathetic situation. The US is heading toward the same situation that now exists in Japan, political deadlock preventing any meaningful progress.
carbonunit52, what you say about the enthusiasm in the Democratic Party is very true at the moment. However the party has had the courage to legislate in areas that are important to working families.
Moneyed up special interest are opposed to this legislation to protect their self interest. They have been willing to finance a very effective campaign to subvert the efforts of our elected leaders and win favor with the general public.
IMHO, it’s the Republican Party that is spineless. If a political issue in any way favors working people over a special interest, they will legislate in favor the special interest every time. They have the single-mindedness of a mob with none of the charm. They are slowly but surely becoming the Teaparty.
do you think the drug companies supported the Obama Healthcare Plan?
Think it was goodwill that drove them to do it?
Do you actually believe that the Democratic Party (I am not a Republican) has no special interests? Please, snap out of it.
I don't defend the Republican Party, so there is no need to go on and on about those guys. They have just as many special interests as the Democrats.
You have things in nice neat little boxes but the world is very different than the way you preceive it.
It is all about power and how to keep it.
PTC Observer, since you asked me, I’ll tell you. I think the drug companies and every other special interest group played both sides of the street in the Healthcare Reform debate. I also don’t pretend to myself that the Democratic Party doesn’t have special interest groups. That is what you implied but it’s not what I said. What I said was:
...the Democratic Party. With all its flaws, it’s still the only party willing to help the working man and women of the US of A.
You claim not to be a Republican and you don’t defend them? I just find it a little hard to believe that as politically active as you are in “The Citizen,” that you did not vote in the primary elections. If you did vote in the primary, what party did you vote for? What levers are you going to pull on Election Day in November? Come on; at least be honest with yourself. Republican, Teaparty,...what's the difference? Two legs on the same pair of pants!
If you fault me for putting things in neat little boxes then I find you equally at fault for being vague and implicit. In an age of 24/7 media saturation, I take comfort in my ability to separate the wheat from the chafe and I stand by my opinion that:
…the Democratic Party. With all its flaws, it’s still the only party willing to help the working man and women of the US of A.
will be removed by the Voters in November. So I guess most of America disagrees with you. Somehow I am not shocked.
OofU, don’t get too giddy about it. We may get our nose bloodied but you can’t defeat us all.
By the way, the next time you put on your tin foil hat, say hello to S.Lindsey for me.
but a start it is.
Once we rout you progressives out like lice then we can stop this administrations rampant spending. Then maybe we can bring some sanity back to our Government.
btw-he is on facebook now just spoke to him. Cheerio
Spending to suit radicals will not end no matter who wins or how many!
Most of the National debt (13 trillion) was made by republican presidents not vetoing anything---proposed most of it!
We will devalue the dollar one day and balance the budget immediately. We sure can't balance it with 20% unemployment (if counted correctly) and 25% of "workers" paid by taxes, nor by clicking on computer keys and "services" only.
We can only sell services to each other! You know like TV ads?
Oofu, I don’t know, it sounds like you’re giddy with excitement to me. I haven’t seen you this excited since the day before the 2008 election or maybe the day before the senate passed the healthcare reform bill in 2009! Heh, heh, heh! We know how well that went for you. 8 - )
Who knows, maybe your due for a win but I think it’s an even bet your side will overplay their hand, pee on their own boots, and scuttle their own chance for a meaningful victory. Your overconfidence and the power of the Gerrymander may yet, help out our side. We will see soon enough.
So, you just talked to SL on Facebook, eh? Well, isn’t that nice. I still think you and he are wearing the same pair of pants!
See you in the funny papers.
It's the moderate-to-leaning-left Dems first elected in 2006 or 2008 that are in the most trouble as far as the House goes. A lot of them were elected
due to some excellent campaign strategy by Pelosi and the Dems to get their majority in place, regardless of whether they were lefty enough or "progressive." Paid off for the Dems and Obama's progressive agenda as they were able to ramrod it through by hook or by crook.
Progressives get the full financial and campaign support from the national Dems because they are true believers and represent districts that like that agenda. The more moderate Dems are left hanging in the breeze and hoping they can survive. In some cases, pitiful opposition is going to help them and also help the Dems to likely keep their House majority.
ON the Senate side, Angle just might knock-off the hugely-funded and now neo-progressive Reid(I'm for all the Obama stuff as long as the gambling industry keeps backing me to the hilt like they always do), but then it gets real iffy. O'Donnell is sinking faster than the Titanic(15 points down and crumbling), but maybe Palin can stick her neck out for her some more and the country can kill two birds with one stone.
Don't see any historic route in November...Repubs chip away big at the House and come very close, but a little short. Probably a couple of seats still behind in the Senate too. After the terrible performance of Repubs in the last many years, it's a pipe-dream for them(or the Tea Party) to expect a mini-revolution this quickly.
Nuk_1, I hope you’re right. Even though I'm betting on the Repub’s overplaying their hand and the power of the gerrymander, the Dems still need to get fired up and vote on election day.
and Senate is close. We will take the House. The Senate is more up for grabs then you realize.
America is tired of the same old Tax and Spend policies that we have endured for 10+ years. It is past time for some Fiscal Conservativism.
...but don't trust the Repubs to deliver the solution, especially since the Repubs have been prime contributors to the problem. The public disgust over both parties is real evident and it's going to come down to local races with local voters as far as the House races. I don't see the Repubs taking over the House but they can come close.
The Senate became no chance as soon as O'Donnell was nominated so scratch that one right off the chart. People may be tired of tax and spend but they aren't going to elect just any kook that turns up on the ballot. There WERE enough fanatics to sneak her in as the nominee, which is kind of scary, but oh well.
"Tax and Spend," has been the yell since I was a little boy---a long time ago. Both parties say it a lot when they are not in power.
As a percentage of one's salary, I doubt it is any higher for taxes than it was in 1950! about $2,000 per year for middle class salary ($3,000 for supervisors.)
Tax would have been about $300-400 per year for income tax. Same percentage-wise for Social Security. Medicare has jumped it a little.
(I remember when a hospital room as $14 a day and a doctor's visit $3. Total baby delivery, $2-300.
As to O'Donnell not winning, you are correct---she might win a mayor's office somewhere.
Anyway the TEAS aren't about NO TAX, they are a voice for saying what a certain group of us want to hear. She doesn't even do that well.
Same with Palin.
Have you seen her in action and listened to her talk? I have and believe you--and many others--just may get surprised in Nov! She speaks well, knows the issues and has a message. Obviously the voters saw something they liked by choosing her over a long-time Delaware politician.
It scared me. Someone as irresponsible financially as she has been her entire adulthood isn't really what I look for in Senator. She lied for years about her education and seemingly everyone who has worked for her thinks she's as nuts as some of the bizarre statements she has made. She's doing a free-fall in the polls anyway, so I think this will all just be yesterday's news pretty shortly.
Respectfully, I would agree that Ms O'Donnell is not among the best and brightest, however, she is one of Delaware's choices. Her prevarications are no worse than Mark Foley, Alcee Hastings, Charles Rangle, or Larry Craig. In my opinion, she represents main stream America more so than than those of Harry Reid's ilk who complain of the 'smell' in the capitol caused by American tourists.
Surely she'll be no worse than that gaffe prone Joe Biden who held the seat for thirty-six years. America is in dire need of new blood in Congress, on both sides.
Mike, pretty fair analysis. She certainly communicates better than many I've heard who are already in Congress. The MSM has grossly exaggerated her financial miscues without offering her major pro bono work as a possible reason and her verbal meanderings many yrs ago won't mean much to voters. As for "seemingly" opinions of those who have worked for her thinking she's nutso, just think how many folks have nEVER HAD ANYONEWORK 'FOR' THEM! Still think a surprise is in the making for Mr. Coons. As for Harry Reid, let's face it, Nevada's economy is in the tank and many voters attribute that partially to Harry. Old Army buddy in Las Vegas says popular opinion indicates Harry will be heading back to Searchlight!
You disappoint me on this one. You know it is not necessary for you to back EVERY fruitcake just because they are a TEA/republican.
30,000 votes in Delaware primary! Mostly I suppose from right wing and TEAS.
I can't think that in the general election such a person could be a US Senator.
Surely you won't vote Deal also? The man has no economic sense and lied on his taxes. He may well go to jail.
Yes, I hope Rangel loses.
As does Sarah Palin, this lady O'Donnell can speak reasonably well to say little. But we can't populate our government with people with those who only can spout nonsense about patriotism, principles, no choice, no taxes, no health care plan, close half of the cabinet departments, and constant war. No details of course about just how to manage. No real plan.
O'Donnell has not even held a regular job for goodness sake. She didn't pay her college costs to her school until years later (recently) and still owes taxes. The fact that she liked witching as a fun thing, spends campaign money for gas and food and rent, has a "boyfriend" now and has never been married, doesn't turn me off much since a lot of congress had those faults (Newt-- while in congress-- for one and many others.)
Have we really sunk that low as to character and intelligence expectations of our representatives?
...please don't feel insignificant should I not give a rat's ass that you're disappointed. Characterizing Ms O'Donnell as a fruitcake when her opponent is an admitted 'bearded marxist' give me pause as to your cognitive skills.
My point is we as a country need an infusion of new blood into the Congress else all those power addicted, self serving, elected bozos win yet again.
No, I will not vote for Deal as I place him in the same category as Frank, Rangel, Craig, and Reid.
You make a point about conservatives closing half the cabinet departments (I assume federal), and what could be so wrong about doing just that? Do you really believe that the Department of Education has the best interests of children in Fayette County or a teachers union as their top priority?
You denigrate Sarah Palin for speaking of patriotism when she has a son that served in Iraq, how many members of Congress can say the same? Jim Webb of Virginia comes to mind as one. Do you know of others among the remaining 534 members?
As far as paying college costs on time, how many sitting politicians would be willing to cast a first stone?
I don't feel insignificant! I do feel that you have lost your reasoning lately. I don't know the bearded fellow at all. I don't have to choose between the two of them.
I agree about new blood. One term is enough--even for Boehner or Reid. Maybe two terms for the leaders.
I won't vote for Deal or Barnes either. I'm writing in a vote. Barnes will win though simply because he is successful!
If Georgia is an example of states totally running and paying for their own schools, then I am glad we have an education department in Washington.
That is unless you believe in only educating those of privilege!
The "patriotism" that Palin speaks of doesn't mean serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. The son was probably eager to get away from the nut house in Alaska! All those fancy words she spouts have no exact definition. It is like saying "a good Christian," and nothing else describing what that means to most! Some f the stuff she espouses certainly wasn't by Christ, (where the word Christian came from).
As to heroes, militarily, we don't seem to elect many of those for some reason (McCain, Bush, jr., Nixon, Reagan, Obama, Johnson, Roosevelt, and on back to Washington who was.
Some of those people wore the uniform but either in Hollywood or at a desk--even Ike never shot at anyone nor was shot at.
Comparing other non-bill paying, etc., people with O'Donnell doesn't improve her lack of character at all! She is a bum and not an intellectual.
I don't buy the approach of the "lesser of two evils" or "no worse than so-and-so." That's how you end up with people like Steve Brown and Don Haddix as elected officials.
I don't think those are gaffes that are giving her serious problems with voters in Delaware...I think she truly believes them. The bit about condoms being "anti-human...what's wrong with humans?" and "not protection against HIV" is rather scary. I think she's a real train wreck. Angle in Nevada I don't think is near as out there which is why she's giving Reid all kind of trouble right now and O'Donnell is falling fast in the polls.
The good folks of Delaware are the ones that will suffer. They are going to elect a moonbat either way. The state of Minnesota will be underrepresented by Al Franken for another five years, and who knows, my home state of South Carolina may well elect this Green fellow.
Perhaps over a beer we could devise a system to prevent such happenings, but only if Gym and Cyclist join.
We need 38 seats we will get 42-47 in the House
In the Senate we need 10 we will get 7-10 too close to call.
Governorships-7 to 9
I don't know about the rest of you in "blogville", but neither one of them attracts my interest.
I don't know about the rest of you in "blogville", but neither one of them attracts my interest.
I totally agree. If the political theater was not so poisonous, more qualified candidates would have their hat in the ring.
I fully agree. Karen Handel was by far the best candidate.
Neither Roy Barnes or Nathan Deal is worth the smoke off of a dog pile. I almost voted for Karen Handel but I don't think she could have beat Barnes and Barnes is definitely the greater of the two evils.
Yeah, Deal has Gggggrrrrrrreat judgment in business deals! He wouldn't be preoccupied with that while governor! $.5 million owed---nothing to pay it with---wow.
However if by chance he got elected, those debts would suddenly disappear for favors. I will have to say though that he fits about in the middle of most governors chosen by Georgia! Great BS artists and hypocrites.
Only honest one ever was Jimmy Carter.
Jimmy Carter was indeed honest but had almost no leadership skills. Good men lost their lives because of his naivety. We haven't had a good President since Ronald Reagan.
Deal and Barnes even look like slimeballs.
---
it's not his debts we have to worry about, just his judgment. Barnes is equally ill suited for the job, so......
you are just as qualified as they are.
What does this say about the state of the State?
I agree with your comment--I sure wish Herman Cain was on the ballot!
I'd vote for Herman. Shocking but true.
Actually, I'm not shocked at all--it'd be a common sense call and I think you've got some of that.
But you will vote for Deal, even if he is awaiting sentencing!
Like Lindsey Lohan---lying about whose pocket book the dope was in!
Yeah, I know Barnes didn't get to be worth 20 million or so by inventing a better mouse trap!
Georgia is horrible in picking most candidates! But as an Independent I will have to write in Jimmy Carter.
I would really like to see Georgia have a Governor who would improve this state about schools, infrastructure (water, roads, etc.) and vetting candidates---even in Atlanta and small towns.
There are about a million or more employees we don't need and can't even keep auto plants nor much of any other industry. Oxy was worthless as a consumer protector and he ran for governor---at least he was eliminated.
We have some of the sorriest State school people and Secretary's of State and road commissioners of any state existing---including Alaska and Alabama and Florida who lives off yankee hotel money.
Is there any available to tackle that? Would our voters vote for them or do they lak hit lak hit air?
I'll vote for the one that promises to do away with the ban on Sunday alcohol sales.
This one is real easy for me since I'm in the LP:) If Handel had won the Repub side of things, I'd probably vote for her as I think she would have been a far better choice than Dirtbag Deal or Roy Frickin' Barnes. I mean, yeesh.
I guess Handel wasn't socially "conservative" enough for the GA Repubs(she has actually talked to gay people without trying to kill them) and now they have to dress up Deal as nicely as possible. He's another Sonny-clone and Georgia could really use a lot better.
Sunday alcohol sales being changed? HAHA! That's not the Repub way around these here parts, son! We done already knows you cant's be deciding that yourselfs now, ya hear?
want to cry.
we have come as close to a depression as I want to get, and maybe we will still have one. Thinking about where we are now it reads more like a doomsday book.
During the great depression they passed several laws to get the country up and running again.
What you understand right off the bat is that some people don't care how much human suffering it causes, how many children go hungry, etc, if they can just swill a few more dollars for their lavish lifestyle and vulgar ego.
What I found shocking is that the very rich have gotten every one of those laws removed.
1. Glass-Steagall Act- made banking reforms to curb the overzealous commercial banks and stock market. Their involvement in stock market (playing the market) was deemed the main culprit of the financial crash. The banks were taking too much risk with the little mans money..and the little man found his life savings gone. They repealed that law in 1999.
2. Public Utility holding company act of 1935- to facilitate regulation of electric utilities, by either limiting their operations to a single state, and thus subjecting them to effective state regulation, or forcing divestitures so that each became a single integrated system serving a limited geographic area. In other words to keep them from screwing you and selling your states natural resources to the highest bidder (La. gas to norhtern states) It was watered down and finally repealed in 2005. Have you looked at your utility bills?
I could go on with the laws..but you get the picture...
There are almost no laws with teeth to reign in the Wall Street bunch..BUT THERE WERE....
You are now victims of the greed of insurance companies..they want staggering premiums..but they find very devious ways not to pay. Who controls this..your elected officals. One, I call oxymoron, just ran for governor..he was too buzy to help the citizens (me) with problems with an insurance company on things I felt were/or should be/ illegal. It came out in the paper the same week he was "too buzy" to help me, is worthlest a@@@ was on a plantation OWNED BY AN INSURANCE CO. Is there something wrong with that?
Everyday you are letting your politicans take away your rights and sell you to the highest pant pocket stuffer.
Does everyone have to go back to another depression to stop this?
I think they do. But this time Roosevelt is dead!
I could go on and on, but all the laws that were put in place to keep the very very rich from feeding off the poor, and corruption at a minimum are gone. Swept away by the ones you put in office and pay a salary..our politicians.
I think people need to swipe the well manicured grins off their faces by calling them (politicians) what they are. Whoring theives! they bend over for anyone for a dime.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST...don't let me leave out the LOBBIEST.. they are the biggest whores of all...
You have only ONE VOTE...THE SOUL PURPOSE OF A LOBBIEST IS TO CIRCUMVENT THAT..IN OTHER WORDS...TAKE AWAY THE STRENGTH OF YOUR LAST RIGHT THAT YOU PAY FOR, THAT OF YOUR VOTE.
You guys go right ahead...whine on blogs...you need to do something!
you need to do some reading about the Great Depression. I suggest:
The Forgotten Man by Amity Shlaes
It was on the NY Times bestseller non-fiction list for several months.
Whether you accept this or not, it is the government that caused the Great Depression, not the "wealthy".
Read the book.
n the process, I have earned three degrees and I have discovered a new world that I never knew existed following my public “education”.
Really?? Congratulations! (and who was ''running' the government - and still is? - THE WEALTHY) Not the electorate - who have difficulty getting 40% of the eligible voters out!! Entertained?
Broaden your reading list.
More garbage from the paper with the news that's fit to wrap dead fish in.
