I will never set foot in The Detail Store again. That is the worst customer service experience I have had in quite some time....oh yes, now I remember, it was the worst since the last time I was in there. I gave them a second even a third chance, now I am done. I am doing my part to vote with my feet. In these days of hard economic times the only way to make my point is to not give them my business and get the word out about my experience. When you first drive up you are greeted by an attendant who is generally very pleasant and thankful. As soon as you enter the building to pay, however, that's a different story. The lady behind the counter doesn't say hello or welcome or even bother to look at you when you hand her the ticket to pay! You get a smug looking, mad at the world, I'm not happy so no one is going to be happy person. Not the best person to greet customers and take their money! She never looked at me while I was getting my wallet out to pay. When she took my credit card to run it through.....nothing, handed me my credit card.....nothing. She then asks me to sign the receipt, never looking up! I asked her for a pen, she told me "it's right over there", which was right in front of her, and never made a motion to hand me the pen. I'm through with that company. I told her when they had finished my car that I would not be back, and that it was because of her and her horrible attitude. She shrugged her shoulders and never looked up. I guess they are doing great in these economic times and don't need my business! Good luck to them, they are going to need it, I have a BIG MOUTH and I intend to tell everyone I know about my experience there.

Me too on the Detail Store

They do good work on the cars, however. I ran into her twice - same experience as you and since then I make a point of going before she shows up. The owner mans the cash register until about 10 and he's not so bad - just quiet, but always polite.

I think she is a relative and doesn't want to work there and it shows. Maybe it is that sense of entitlement that we are seeing more and more of these days - although how that can be is a real mystery to me. Any business in these times who thinks customer service isn't a #1 priority will fail.

Agree with Bobby that The Detail Store is good

I have been going there a while and know the owner, Nelson. Great guy. Bobby's assessments are right. I could buy and sell a fleet of new cars but I still feel guilty paying another human being to wash my car. But, hell, I do it anyway. $25 a shot. Not bad. Yes, the relative (I know who you mean) is curt and short. But Nelson would come pick you up on the side of the road if you called him. And as far as Shank and her big mouth, wash your car yourself a few times and then you'll keep yer pie hole shut. They do it for you in 95 degree heat for about half of your monthly cable bill. Entitlement mentality in America? Hell yeah but there is still hope.

For PTCTAXPAYER. I don’t

For PTCTAXPAYER.

I don’t usually respond to personal attacks from idiots but in your case I will make an exception. My complaint is not with the hard working people outside, it’s with the rude person inside. I can, and often do wash my car myself. But once the liberal wackos (a camp I’m sure you’re a card-carrying member of) started in with the water usage police I thought I could do my part and at the same time offer a small business my patronage. But my patronage is a privilege and not a right! If Bon Que Que wants to crap on the indigenous people of PTC that frequent the business she will find herself out of a job and your buddy Nelson will be without his business. It’s called voting with your feet, something I would suggest you try if you didn’t have them shoved so far in your “pie hole”.

I agree with everything said here. The owner and wife just act as if they are doing the customer a favor. The seating is terrible, those five dollar plastic chairs are gross. He can't be bothered to put some window tinting up on those glass windows. Not only to cut down on the sun coming in, but to cut down on his a/c bills!

They use dirty rags on the windshields, more than once I have had to come back to tell them to do the windows again, and they still come out streaked. See the comment in the Free Speech this week about the weeds? How can anyone own a high visibility corner lot in a city like this and not maintain the landscaping?

Detail Store Complaints

It's hard to do business with angry people, on the other hand you should consider this story in "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Steven Covey. I will paraphrase it.

A man on the subway with two small children was letting them run wild on the train. Bothering people tugging at peoples' belongings etc. The father sat there doing nothing. One of the passengers finally had enough and told the father that he should control his children. The father as if snapping out of a daze, appologized and said he had just come from the hospital where his wife had just died.

The point is that you never really know why people act the way they do. She could have a sick kid or lost her husband or she has cancer. Try taking this woman some flowers the next time you go there. Tell her that you wanted to cheer her up, see how she treats you the next time you come back.

Just a suggestion.

Alternatives to the Detail Store...?

We recently moved to PTC. Looking for a good car wash facility for our two cars.

Any alternatives to the Detail Store? How about a good mobile detail service? I see a lot of shiny cars driving around so there must be some place nearby that does a lot of business.

To "PTC Observer"... I treat everyone with respect, but (IMO) buying flowers for a pathologically-grouchy cashier is way over the top. ("Google" the Detail Store and read other negative comments about this lady.)

Car Wash

Try Reflections in Tyrone near the Publix (right next to the auto parts store). Everything is done by hand, so it takes a little longer but its worth it! Nice waiting area w/ wi-fi. The owner is out there busting his hump w/ his crew, and he usually walks around the car w/ you when he's done.

This woman has been miserable for years. I have not been there

in a long time because of her attitude. I have tried going back after long intervals of staying away and when I returned she was her same surly, snarly self. The chairs as horrible, the sun beats in on you and waiting for your vehicle is a miserable experience and then you have to deal with her. I think this woman's face would crack if she ever smiled. I know many people who have burdens they carry and they manage to be pleasant to their customers. She is just plain miserable and that is her right---as it is my right to give my business to someone who shows they appreciate it. Evidently there are those who are willing to put up with her because they seem to remain busy. One time I was there and she was even ruder than usual. I asked her, as I often do when a service person is exceptionally rude or unattentive, if she was having a bad day. Her snotty reply was she was having a wonderful day . I looked her in the eye and asked her if she was having such a wonderful day while in the h--- was she trying to ruin mine and walked out--have not been back since.

The Detail Store can't even maintain their corner

in a decent fashion. Why should I patronize them?

Thank you for the tip. What a shame we have to go out of PTC to get a good detail, but I will do it.

I am opening a detail store

I am opening a detail store in PTC. Apparently, everybody hates this place and they are still busy every time I go there.

What a fantastic opportunity for someone!

After reading all of these negative comments, I see a fantastic opportunity for someone to give the Detail Store some competition. Do a good job with a smile, charge a fair price, and you will own the market!

Every day of the week I see many different lawn service trucks driving through my neighborhood all trying to compete for a few yard jobs. IMO, some of these hard-working types should sell their lawn mowers and buy some detailing equipment.

When detail store first opened I went

and never went back. My truck was left to sit while the blower running full force on my bug deflector. Told the lady and she said it would be OK.
Well, it blew off my truck and she said they would take care of it. The man came in and said no way. Got into a heated discussion....bottom line
rude people and dirty, streaked windows. I would drive to the north Ga mountains to get a car wash just to avoid these people and have told everyone I know to stay away.
