Longbranch Steakhouse At Their New Location
Longbranch, long situated in an out-of-the-public-eye-place has moved into the bldg formerly occupied by Golden's, and before that a Deli and before that Majone's. Had lunch there today. About 12.45 and there were probabably 30 customers there. I had one of their lunch specials, pot roast, with mashed potatos (real), and Cream Peas. Meat was fork-tender and tasty, Peas were well-cooked & seasoned, mash was very good. Frau Gym said the Tea really tasted like Tea. My Amber Bock really tasted like Amber Bock. Frau had their "Green Weinie, which is fried Green Tomatos & Bacon on Rye. Damage was $22.00. But we cleaned it all up and commented on how good it all was. We'll go back and perhaps try one of their Steaks. Lots of Seafood available too.
tried the Fla. corn at Publix at Wilshire. Very good. Thanks for the tip the other day.
Went and got some more strawberries at Adams farm on Thursday. Still as ripe and juicy as they were the week before. Slice them up and eat them on my Special K or Cheerios in the morning. Also slice them up, dump sugar on them and let them marinate till realy juicy, then put them on angel food cake with whipped cream or ice cream.
My brother just called and told me that when he went by Longbranch for lunch about an hour ago, they were closed. He said that there was a note on the door thanking their patrons and apologized for their immediate closing.
So who does that surprise? Certinly not me--it was only a matter of time. A combination of hokey decor, spotty svc, no real culinary or management skills, poor employee attitudes, unreliable food quality and high price usually guarantees eventual death of any restaurant.
that they closed. My brother ate there quite a few times, mainly hoping that it would eventually make a turn around. I on the other hand, only ate there twice and was highly disappointed both times.
Besides the fact that they were a lousy restaurant, most peeps prefer the chain restaurants overly privately owned anyway.
Not thrilled with the one in F'ville or PTC either--one in McDonough is much better in my view.
Had lunch there yesterday. Had their lunch special of Country Fried Steak, with mashed pots & lima beans. Mashed was good as were limas (w/ham), country fried steak with tasteless gravy was just edible. Frau Gym had the Beef veggie soup w/cornbread. Edible but no stars. Draft Yoengling was cold and tasty. Can't envison a return visit right now.
