Otherwise known as the "Affirmative Action in Banking" Bill

Dodd: It Will Take Another Economic Crisis To Determine If Financial Reform Worked

Chris Dodd:
"It is not a perfect bill, I will be the first to admit that. We don't know ultimately how well the ideas we've incorporated here will achieve the results we desire. It will take the next economic crisis, as certainly it will come, to determine whether or not the provisions of this bill will actually provide this generation or the next generation of regulators with the tools necessary to minimize the effects of that crisis when it happens."

You can't make this crap up.

Why Reform?

It is the human condition of egregious greedy behavior that takes advantage of the loopholes to somehow plunder the systems. In this case, regulations to curb the plundering were scaled back by conservatives over the years. They were originally established to correct the problems of the 1929 Great Depression, and subsequent problems created by greed on Wall Street. Reforming action is the result of trying to correct something that has gone wrong. Taking this country, and possibly a global community, into the path of another Depression is not a sustainable way to gain financial security. The resistance to reform is understandable when you realize that some folks have no clue as to how we into these messes in the first place. There exists an old adage that begins with "there ought to be a law....". Well there is one now. Is this Loony? I don't think so.

He is just being honest instead of spouting false positivity as conservatives do often.

There will have to be amendments to most laws. The people who wrote the Old Testament had to have amendments called the New Testament! One day they may drag out of a hole in Palestine some more jugs full of Greek or something saying: New Testament 1.1 Even God makes revisions.

It passed today with nary a republican vote. They are never against anything just want changes------make the changes and they want more changes. They weren't against the health plan you know? Only 40 of them voted against it. (40 of 40)
They are insincere!
They won't be reelected anyway no matter how they voted.
