lindsey: tar balls

Well, everyone is to be made "whole" according to BP and the federal and state government (forget the state part----no state does diddly-squat in such things except bitch).
BP says they are paying the bill---not a penny from taxpayers! Well, as Reagan used to say, I beg to disagree. I don't know how many billion BP usually pays in taxes but you can bet that next year they will pay any for this year!!! Deductions, you know. It will cost us, the taxpayers far more than the billions we won't get from BP past profits.

Anyway there are about 3-4 million people in the Gulf needing to be made whole! Do you have any idea how much that is? Much, much more than 20 billion for just one year---what about the 10-20 following years?
Even the Atlanta sea-food restaurants want a bailout!!! Even the Hilton Hotels there.

It is all a farce. If they ever get the oil stopped, it will take a generation or more to clean up those billions of gallons out of the marshes, sand and ocean floor bottoms!
Especially around Miami and lake Ponchatrain.
Does everyone think it will just go away in a few months? The Red-Nek Riviera is dead.

Union jokers

Now you know Lindsey that anyone that belongs to a union is a joke. They are followers not leaders. A union goon would have to be shown the little tar ball and given written permission to pick it up. And God forbid its time for a union break they would drop the little ball and sit down. A union clowns favorite saying is ITS NOT MY JOB>

Tar Balls

Actually they aren't tar and they aren't balls! They are oily however. As to a tar ball union I don't know, not likely in Louisiana or Mississippi!
They are more like Moose droppings I am told! Cow patties you know? They are somewhat more palatable than the oil would be without the chemical that makes them patties!
BP is trying to sink most of it a mile or more deep with the chemicals so it won't be visible. Kinda hard to clean up down there too. Forget cleaning patties out of the marshes!

Obama is a miserable failure

The Obama administration has failed America miserably.

They're too busy-

a) suing AZ while the U.S. Federal Government fails to protect this country from invaders

b) giving U.S. tax dollars to Kenya so that they will allow abortions.

c) turning NASA into an affirmative action program for Muslims

Joe Coffee: correct

In a little over a year President Obama has failed to resolve our trillions of debt he found; root out and jail the crooks who did it; failed to let the banks all close at once and let us go stagnant; created health care for millions who were suffering---what do we care about that; failed to make everyone here citizens; failed to build a stupid wall with millions of guards; has shot very few crawling over what wall there is; hasn't won the two wars he found nor has he escaped from them---he gets blamed for both things; yes, he is a total failure----too bad the republicans couldn't have had at least eight more years!

B-b-b-b-b-b-b-but......Bush!

That's all you libs have.

Obama has tripled the deficit, turned tarp into a slush fund for his cronies, defies Federal law, rams "Universal healthcare" through even though the majority of American's don't want it.

He's completely botched international relations with 2 of America's strongest allies.

I could go on and on.

He's a complete and utter FAILURE.

Day 2 and all is not well

Day 2 began pretty much like Day 1 the Volunteers sit around waiting for the Gov guy to tell us where we can clean.. Today they gave us a 25 x 25 area. Did I mention there are 25 of us.. That effectively gives us a 1 square foot area to clean.

I guess I am pretty much disgusted with the way things are going. I did hear that the Union crews were going to show up so I decided to wait around and see these PROfessionals.

More on that tomorrow.. If you want to laugh or cry I guess this will do it..

All I can say is Chartered buses and a limo.

The stupid "clean-up" everyday only to fill up again the next day is useless anyway.
Anyway the oil drains off thay stuff and goes 2 feet deep!

The whole darn gulf will have to be cleaned out to 1000 feet before it will stop! Then maybe not if that gunk on the ocean floor comes up!

Why don't you grab an island and wipe the blades of grass off every day?

..of Limos and chartered buses

Well day 2 and 3 were just more of the same. A lot of wasted time and little to do. I have made some interesting "friends" however and the locals where a wealth of information.

First before I get to the buses and Limo I did discover there are three groups here.

1. The Volunteers.. There are Church groups, Masonic groups, University students and a rag tag bunch of others that just want to do their part.

then there are the others..

2. Paid Civilian Contractors.. this group is paid by FEMA aka Joe Taxpayer to do the work assigned. I will get to them in a minute..

then there is this special group..

3. The Union "guys".. These guys show up every now and then in CHARTERED buses from MOBILE.

First the Volunteers.
The locals here love us. We are spending our own money and doing something willingly to help. One "local" by the name of Billy brought water out to us everyday. He was well let's say not happy with the Government "over site" of us and the lack of support we were given.

To say it was bad was mostly an understatement. We had the distinct feeling we were not welcomed by the Civilian Contractors and the "Union Guys".

Now this group of Civilian Contractors.. There were 3 groups of these.. All have been told not to speak to anyone.. and I mean anyone.

"As CNN is now reporting, the U.S. government has issued a new rule that would make it a felony crime for any journalist, reporter, blogger or photographer to approach any oil cleanup operation, equipment or vessel in the Gulf of Mexico. Anyone caught is subject to arrest, a $40,000 fine and prosecution for a federal felony crime.

CNN reporter Anderson Cooper says, "A new law passed today, and back by the force of law and the threat of fines and felony charges, ... will prevent reporters and photographers from getting anywhere close to booms and oil-soaked wildlife just about any place we need to be. By now you're probably familiar with cleanup crews stiff-arming the media, private security blocking cameras, ordinary workers clamming up, some not even saying who they're working for because they're afraid of losing their jobs."

Watch the video clip yourself at NaturalNews.TV: http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=203

And believe me when I say they are not supposed to talk I will tell that story in a moment.

These "civilian" experts are on the beach approx 2 hours every other day and are paid for 8 hours on a 6 day work week. How do I know well I got to know one of their managers over beer at the Campground I was staying in.
His exact words were "I hope that leak is never fixed" wouldn't want to ruin his gravy train.

Then there are the Union crews.. These guys are a piece of work.. They show up in Chartered buses from Mobile.. 109 miles one way. Their "boss" shows up in a blacked out Lincoln Towncar. They only "work at night" and they use only "Red LED lights..

Can't disturb the Turtles with regular flashlights.. and oh did I mention they don't remove any of the "Tarballs" they use the "Fold" method.. That is a method of "folding" the tar back into the sand so no one CAN SEE THEM.

Can't use rakes either I was told they might disturb the turtles nest. Did anyone actually see a turtle or nest well no but they might have.

I tried to speak with one of these guys his name was Joe from Mobile and he was quiet friendly that is until one of his handlers walked over and not so politely told me to leave.

When I told the guy just where he could put his attitude the whole group went silent. For a minute I felt like I was back on Project detail as a lone white cop at night walking the beat. It was a feeling I didn't like very much.

This "Thug" stared at me for awhile and when I failed to start quivering he took Joe and everyone walked away.

So what did I accomplish? Well besides a feeling of trying to do my part not much.

But what did I discover? Well at least here there is a lot of money being made. No not by the local business people at least not directly but by paid contractors and Union guys.

Am I saying this was and is the norm.. No. Just some observations from a Environmental Specialist/Consultant/Political blogger and US Taxpaying Citizen.

You know I have said what I think of this useless job you and the others are "doing" but I'll just bet you that YOU haven't sacked up 100 pounds of the oil residue and sand to date! It has soaked down two feet already you know? The sand will have to be burned out up to 3-4 feet deep eventually. You are wasting your time.
All that money for the salaries, snacks, tents, etc., is being wasted now because President Obama haters were raising hell to have something, anything, done. Also the hotel and business owners are trying to con people down there to spend money and get greased and smelled up.
Did you know there Will soon be nearly a BILLION gallons (9,000,000,000 pounds--- and about three times that amount of sand) of oil and gook mixture all over the gulf and bottom that will eventually have to be cleaned up?
You and your little plastic sack!
What are you doing with the sacks? You don't want to know.

Never mind the negative cmts from others--your quest was well-intended. That it didn't turn out as you wished is not your fault--you tried and that's more than the rest of us have done.

AHG thanks...

Didn't post anything looking for kudos but the absolute screwed up Government "clean up" program begged to be talked about..

The Locals told me they were chased off the beach by OSHA when they tried to clean up their OWN beach. They were not trained you know.

One guy told me "If I can clean my dogs crap off the beach then I think I am qualified for that (tarball) job".. This is what the people of the Gulf coast are dealing with and the frustration of getting anything done. One County official told me of the problems trying to organize County workers and Temp workers to do it.. She said they were told "Thanks but NO THANKS" from OSHA and the Disaster Control Team (FEMA).

Then there are the other tales of Hot Tub dealers wanting checks from BP for slow sales in SUMMER.. well duh.

A couple of terms came to mind daily.. fubar and snafu..

Where do you think some of those "locals" would have put their clean-up stuff? Were they going to get the stained sand also?
Just how much would they sue for when it is over for breathing the stuff while they cleaned it up?
I would love to see your plans for the big clean up.

It is indeed sad that we allowed a stupid oil company to ruin an entire small ocean! That is what comes from lack of and false regulation and inspections. Same thing as happened with Wall Street and the Banks.
Why can't you see that?

I was in Pascaguola and Biloxi on an errand just a few weeks ago (lost $5)and there wasn't any oil in sight.
I fear we have destroyed a whole way of life and just hope oil can somehow be stopped short of Miami and the east coat and maybe Europe eventually!

Most of those "in business for themselves people" down there only really work hard 3-4 months per year and make sufficient money off tourists, fish and seafood to do the rest of the year. A good life if you can get it.
You have seen what has been done for New Orleans and Haiti after several years!
It won't be any better now on the Gulf and beyond. The devastation is just too great to correct in just a few years. Handing people a few thousand dollars and cheap wages for a year or so won't cut it.

If I'm not mistaken however that is their tough luck according to the beliefs of conservatives. No help wanted. (right).
