Mexico joins suit against Arizona

I mean are you freaking kidding me..

Do we need to remind Mexico about their Immigration issues. Yes I guess we do.

The Mexican constitution restricts legal non-citizens from participating in politics, holding office, or serving on the crews of Mexican-flagged ships or airplanes. Illegal aliens have no rights at all.

The Mexican flag? Why don't they go back? For the same reason that the 'American Brits' who proudly display the British flag stay in the states. The state of California, with its Spanish names and history, belonged to Mexico - remember? All of us have a hyphenated heritage in the US - except for the Native Americans. The issue is the poor implementation of the Federal law - and ILLEGAL immigrants. As long as 'illegal immigrants' can 'work' in the US - they will continue to come. . . and I'm glad to see that SL pointed out that it is not just 'Mexicans'. On the west coast, in many areas, Asians and Hispanics are the 'majority' population - and all are not 'illegal'. In Arizona, the violence of the drug cartel is frightening - and the cartel is here in Georgia, according to the AJC - as well as those who make and sell false drivers licenses, work permits, etc. The failure to prosecute employers who break the law by hiring illegals is at the bottom of this problem. Our government "by law' sometimes seems to be more concerned with business profit over 'legal' practices. Maybe Cyclist, while you were there in LA, there was more of 'flag waving' due to the World Cup. Lot's of Irish and British flag waving here during some of the World Cup activities.

Enforce the law

. . .which Democrats and Republicans have not done for years - because business has used the 'Creeks' for cheap labor. Where were you for the past 8 years when tunnels were found and our leaders started building 'walls'? I've answered your question - I'd call the police and demand enforcement of the law. If they are allowed to 'sit' on my land for years - so that their cheap labor can be taken advantage of - then that is another problem. What did you do for the past umpteen years? Your solution please. It's unfortunate - but Republicans are closely tied to 'business' in this country - and regardless of 'polls' - the American people are not blind or stupid. A failed practice of not enforcing the law has created a tremendous problem that a knee jerk, political reaction will solve.

Spin all you want - Americans who were interested in the World Cup proudly displayed the flags of their heritage. In LA - it was quite apparent. In Georgia it was apparent also - just not Mexican flags. What you cited had nothing to do with World Cup activities.
If you would tell the Police to evict the Indians from YOUR land then just what is different from Arizona doing the same? You let them 'sit' there too long!! Use 'em up - throw 'em out! That's the American way? Are you against Obama's plan as cited in another post? As soon as the law begins to be enforced - and one American citizen who has a swarthy appearance is swept up in the 'raid' - watch all h--- break out. We have the intelligence to correct past mistakes without causing havoc. Lord knows we don't need any havoc during these times. The economical problems that we're facing are not ours alone - but global. Thank heavens we have leaders who are respected by the world community and are agreeing to work with us in bringing some stability to the world market. Our use of cheap illegal labor is not unknown to the world. We are not the only country who is guilty - but when we start citing other countries regarding human rights issues - we better make sure our own hands are clean.

Let's say a group of 5 Homeless people were living in the woods next to your house.. Every summer they raid your garden for food.. Being a good liberal you feel sorry for their plight and even plant more food just for them and you let this continue...

This year however another group of say 50 move in they take all of your food and even start using your pool and use your garden shed as a place to sleep.. You call the police they tell you "Well you have allowed this to happen for years.. Deal with it".

Exactly – controlled is the operative word here – and because of years of no control of our borders – we have this problem that knee-jerk, vote-seeking politicians want to solve by deporting MILLIONS of people overnight. No point in doing that until we have cooperation in securing the borders from both Mexico and Canada. Your (so-called Conservative) leaders know this – but in interest of their ‘get Obama’ campaign, they are using prejudicial fear to get public opinion against seeking a workable solution to this problem. Have your 8 Senators presented a solution?

It is not knee jerk to allow deportation by attrition.. That is the basic premise of the Arizona law..

I was a Police Officer for 12 years.. I could not count how many "suspected" illegals I stopped but because I could not verify their status I had to let them go..

A few that I busted for serious crimes were not deported because ICE would not pick them up.. This has been going on since the 80's..30 years of freeloading on the taxpayers dime is enough DM.

It is time for them to go back to Mexico, Canada, Russia or Mars where ever they are from.

You keep asking if anyone has solutions.. Well yes they do.. You Libs just don't like them.. Nothing short of Amnesty is going to suit you.

That pathway to citizenship starts at HOME..Dm. Theirs not ours.

There is more than one way to attack this problem

and unfortunately the republicans have been just as craven as the democrats on this. You and DM are both correct on your points. We can attack this from both sides- seriously punish employers that knowingly employ illegals and from the other side deport those that are here illegally. The republicans have refused to seriously go after the employers. Conversely the democrats truly want unfettered access for all peoples to our country-regardless if the US can gain a benefit from their presence here. We can also codify what it means to be a citizen of the US, it does not need to be a consitutional amendment--merely codify that a baby born in the US is a citizen of the US if one of its two parents is a citizen as well. This is the citizenship test throughout most of the world. There is no reason not to adopt it here.

When it's their back yard and their jobs that is being invaded then they might see the other side of this..

This is why I have made that statement. Because I have more than 30 liberal friends that have told me time and time again that we are a nation of immigrants and they feel it is wrong to restrict immigration--mainly due to our history. I take their views into consideration as they are staunch democrats. Now if I look nationally, I cannot see any major initiative, be it against the employers or against the illegal immigrants, that the democrats have proposed or supported legislatively, or even among the talking heads circuit. Be it increased fines against employers or stepped up ICE raids. In this case, it is the democrats that are the party of "no"
I truly believe that neither party cares to seriously enforce our borders or set up a meaningful "guest worker" program. Each are beholden to their true bases and neither want this issue to be resolved.

That is why I feel the way that I do and made that statement. Have a good night.

After giving it some thought based on the input I've had here, it looks like politics as usual. Both parties want/need the Hispanic vote in this country. Mistreating anyone based on 'appearance' frightens many legal citizens, even though they are against the use of illegal immigrants and the lack of control of our borders. Nothing will be done until after the July elections - and then probably very little. Your solution of codifying that a baby born in the US is a citizen if one of its two parents is a citizen would answer the fears of many who see families being separated after years of living in the US. This is a complicated issue due to 'politics' as usual. . .and fearing the loss of financial support for 're-election'. The 'deportation by attrition' may be a solution - if the illegals would cooperate. However, the reality of Gwinnet County and Pasadena, California attests that once there appears to be a threat to illegals - they leave for other areas or return home. Pasadena School District based their annual income on the attendance of the previous year (in the past). The issue of legality was in the media - and lo and behold, the next year, attendance of students with Hispanic surnames was down by more than 50%. Evidently this has not happened in Arizona - and I feel that if the drug cartel and crime was not in the mix, Arizonians would not be as concerned about the 'cheap' labor that they are getting.

Wish I could meet all of those Democrats that you know!! The culture shock of Fayette County is its lack of political diversity!! LOL. (However, sad to say the corruption and scandal seems to be prevalent in both political parties - urban or suburban.)

I have kept in touch with high school and college friends with social media being an excellent tool. I also didn;t grow up around here. I find it interesting to engage them politically. Within these liberal circles, there is a ton of anger. They are also more apt to sign up for things such as "Let's plug the gulf oil leak with Sarah Palin's body" stuff like that. I would say this is an anomoly, but after seeing the rejoicing (in some quarters such as KOS and Huffington) over the cancerous death of Tony Snow at the time, I have concluded that the liberal factions do not hold a moral high ground.
My thoughts are also colored by a desire to see my country prosper. We have a better social safety net than many countries that the immigrants are coming from, but we cannot afford to maintain our social net when so many more are entering it. A guest worker program would be a safety valve for them and us.

I'm beginning to feel that not many people today are maintaining a 'high moral ground' regardless of political beliefs. Sad. The 'guest worker' program did work for a while in California. I'll have to do some research to find out why that appears to have fallen by the wayside. I do know that there has been a definite feeling from Mexican citizens to 'take their country back'. This has been fueled by the poverty conditions in Mexico and the ability to 'earn' money in the states.

Regarding Democrats in Fayette County - we're here! LOL! As I've pointed out to my children, third world countries all have two things in common - lack of an educated populace and lack of a 'middle class'. As I witness the attack on adequate funding for education and the high unemployment rate - we are headed towards third world country status - and that has nothing to do with 'color'. I too want to see our country prosper - and have been actively involved to stop the 'lack of financial conservatism' for the past years. We all were enjoying the 'bubble' of prosperity - with little thought of the consequences. Well, the consequences are here - along with trying to maintain two or more wars, and recovering from catastrophes. Unfortunately, political issues seem to trump the needs of the American citizen in my opinion. Getting one party out and putting another party in without cooperation in finding solutions to our problems is a no-win situation for the average citizen in this country. What do you think?

Funding for Public Schools

It's been proven time and time again that a lack of funding has absolutely nothing to do with the problems in education. The problems in education stem from poor teaching and absentee parents. The unions have such a stranglehold on the democrat party that they continually try to beat that old tired drum of "adequate funding". The dems think that throwing money at a problem will always fix it, hence the Community Organizer in Chiefs "stimulus plan" which hasn't stimulated anything but beaurocracy and government jobs. By the way, I hope that the other leaders at the G8 conference told Obama where to stuff his ideas for stimulating growth in other countries. While they are doing the prudent thing by reducing spending and welfare benefits, he's trying to tell them to continue spending money they don't have. The man-child Obama has no business advising these countries while our economy and unemployment rate remains in the tank. But I digresss...

One of the problems in education stems from incompetent people with racial chips on their shoulders becoming "teachers" and then go around telling their students that they should be "shocked" at the lack of diversity in local politics instead of teaching them the constitution, readin' writin' and rithmatic'.

One of my favorite stories is the recent one about Governer Christie telling some union teacher that she should quit if she doesn't think that she is paid enough. Governor Christie Tells Teacher to Quit if She is Unhappy
That really put this union thug in her place.

Let's face it - reform is not #1 on the Republican playbook at this time. Business will lose big time if there is INSTANT deportation of illegals. It is a great issue for mud slinging and posturing. .. but that border has been 'open' for a long, long time. . .and neither Republican nor Democrat administrations have done much about it since the 'bracero' issue. Interesting that unemployment benefits have been cut off. Is it possible that this is one way to get Americans to take the low paying jobs given to illegals so that Americans can feed their families?

Lindsey, Barry has shown a complete and blatant disregard for the United States Constitution. Barry will loose all his legal battles regarding SB1070 in Arizona. Being the Socialist Dictator that he is, he will give the illegals amnesty. I really enjoyed DM's response to your direct question regarding the squatters on her property. What a classic, CLASSIC liberal response. I DON'T CARE HOW LONG THEY HAVE BEEN HERE THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY. Period...end of story. Goodbye and take your illegal "anchor" babies with you because they are NOT citizens. United Stated Constitution 14th Amendment Section 1 Clause 1 "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside". If the parents are here illegally they are not subject to the "jurisdiction thereof" and thus their children are NOT citizens. But then again, Dictator Barry could care less about the Constitution.

I am also in agreement with dropping the hammer on the employers as well. Without employment they will be forced to return to their country or follow our laws and obtain the proper paperwork.

I can give a pretty good guess at an answer.. Kyl is the most likely to be telling the truth.. Why.. The press covers for Obama so by their not pushing this.. Kyl is likely to have told the truth. You can bet Gibs would have been out the next day denying it and the Media would have excoriated Kyl if not true.

A Few Facts

The border needs to be secured.My comments are to correct some misinformation. By law the only health care illegals can get is emergency treatment.
Tax dollars for education..for whom ? 90% of Hispanics 18 years old and younger were born in the US. That makes them American citizens. It is estimated that 7% of Hispanic children in school are illegal.
Classes to teach English to non-English speakers,that's a federal law.

It's a shame

It's a shame that this couple wasn't pulled over and arrested for child endangerment for having their 2-year old in the front seat of a moving vehicle, unprotected by a seat specifically made for small children. The couple would be back home in good ole' Mejico by now if they were caught breaking America's laws (again). Obviously, they have no regard for our laws or the saftey of their child. These Shiite brand Muslims were formed primarily to duel Israel over Lebanon. They obtain their money from Iran, Syria, and world Shiite donations, including some in the USA.
They are not in the dope business.
They are Socialistic in that they provide their people with sustenance, hospitals, etc.
They are not organized into forts, etc., but are on call at a moments notice.
As to our "borders" they are protected better than ever! That wasn't hard to do since Reagan made what was here citizens and Bush did nothing about the borders. Most rich Texans have numerous Mexicans on their cash payrolls!
President Obama inherited 30 million illegals and 30 more million legals from the south!
Rounding up and separating the illegals is a virtual impossibility now.
Looks like the answer is to set up numerous recording stations on our borders and let them all in if they will register! Those that don't register and enter may be shot.
