Really

Wow no one knew that.

So all polls are therefore totally unreliable?

Or just this one?

So you are anti-fairtax.. ok how about a flat tax?

Do you like the progressive/regressive tax structure we have now?

Diversity in Tea Party Growing

of those who say they a belong to a Tea Party movement: It is estimated that 2% of the 18% of the tea party is black, 1% is Asian, 52% women, 68% 60 or older.

The diversity is changing daily as more and more people identify themselves with the tea party movement.

Teabaggers: Rhetoric Vs. Reality

Some posters in this thread are questioning my motives in asking what percentage of the local teabagger group is African-American. They take great pains not to answer.

My reason for asking this simple question was to point out that the rhetoric of the teabaggers often does not match reality. For example, in theory, anyone can join the teabaggers (it's an open organization), but in actuality, the majority of the teabaggers appear to be older white males with entitlement issues.

Another good example of the rhetoric not matching the reality are the signs that claim people are "taxed enough already" and that middle class taxes are somehow higher now under President Obama than they were under they were under George W. Bush. In fact, middle class taxes are now lower today than at any time since 1955.

A good many teabaggers, however, appear unwilling to admit or even acknowledge this fact, furthering my suspicion that a large number of teabaggers are Republicans who are uninterested in discussion.

I always am impressed

at how the typical liberal is so quick to gay bait. The liberal use of the term that Crispy likes to use is meant to gay bait. Yet liberals wrap themselves in progressive thought and claim a lack of bigotry and racism. Yet they can always prove that their fecal matter stinks equally well. Thanks crispy for the use of this term as it shows who you truly are.

is that my use of Wedge stems from the military expression "I am a wedge, the simplest tool known to man, and I don't even work!" that recruits were sometimes made to say. An attempt at self-deprecating humor for those in the know. You, on the other hand, use the Tea Party word of choice to gay bait and inflame. I think you continue to demonstrate-in words and deed- the type of person that would consider themself to be progessive or liberal. A person who lives in hypocrisy. You continue to live up to my thoughts. well-played

Gosh Wedge, what would I do without conservatives here telling me what I REALLY think, mean and feel.

For the record,"Teabagger" has different meanings to different people.

I quote your gay-baiting butt - "For the record,"Teabagger" has different meanings to different people." It may indeed have different meanings out there, but the ideological left has made this term to be a double entendre and speak this in polite company with a wink and a smile. I don't have to tell you how to think, you choose to use that term all over this website. Your liberal use of the term belies who you are. Drive on and wrap yourself in a perceived superiority as you continue to drive toward the lowest denominator. Keep using the term, it certainly suits you.

You certainly seem preoccupied with sexual connotations of words, Wedge!

I implore you to look up the phrase "gay baiting" as you appear to be misinformed as to what that term actually means.

Since you appear to have some fairly major unresolved sexual orientation issues (misunderstanding the concept of "gay baiting", random references to my butt, etc), in the interests of promoting brotherhood and bipartisanship in this forum I will no longer refer to Tea Party members as "teabaggers".

From this point forward I will refer to them as "Teahadists".

You should coin the phrase

"teahadist". It is good and I haven't heard it before. The sad thing about the term is that you are most likely more worried about "teahadists" than of "jihadists". الأيديولوجية الصداقة

I have never claimed that I didn't have 'racist' thoughts. I honestly feel that Americans - no matter how they try to deny it - are NOT COLOR BLIND. . .but I see great improvement. It is interesting how so many skirt the issue of why minorities are not rushing to join the Tea Party movement. Believe me, minorities are concerned about taxes and government intrusion into private life. Why wouldn't they be? Do some here really believe that minorities don't pay taxes? Pleeeeeeeze. We are Americans!! We send our sons and daughters to war; we go to work; we buy homes - and pay our mortgages; we establish businesses; we are consumers...AND WE PAY TAXES. Liberals and minorities are well aware of racism and bigotry and so are conservatives in these United States. To claim otherwise is folly. There are minority liberals, conservatives, AND bigots. We are improving in 'getting along'. . .but obviously . . from the turn of this discussion, we have a 'little ways' to go!

I see, I painted with a broad brush, but I still stand by that brush stroke in a general way. I see a lot of commentary-left and right and I see a general belief that anything not liberal or progressive is racist and/or bigoted. Many times, liberal commentators will point out perceived racism from their ideological foes and be inference claim themselves above reproach. I respect your admission. I do not doubt your admission or intentions. Have a good night.

Look to the right.....right here on this page....NYT/CBS says Tea Party folks are more educated and prosperous.....
It's got nothing to do with race. Wanting to stop the anti-American, job-killing, government spending, etc. policies of the dumocrats is the basis of Tea Party folks.
But, since you bring up race, I did not see any white faces at the million-moron march a few years ago. I did not see any white faces at La Raza's last anti-American, pro-illegal criminal rally. I guess we need a blue-ribbon, government panel to remove the black and brown sheets and hoods from the million-morons and the La Raza creeps. Then, the racism displayed by these 2 hate filled, tax-sucking, parasite groups will have the white light of truth shine upon them... Your problem is you can't handle tax-paying, prosperous citizens rallying against the radical policies of your beloved leftists....ie: racists.

AlarminglyCorrect, are you implying that "educated and prosperous" people cannot be racist?

Perhaps you can also explain to us how the million-man march and/or LaRaza is a "tax sucking parasite group".

And finally, I'll ask the question I ask of everyone who complains about government spending: What would you cut?

From the mouth of a non-racist? Interesting. Haven't seen this type of expression for a long time on this blog. Sort of disappointing. Just when you respect persons for their particular views - well expressed . .along comes AC. Sad.

Million Man March/La Raza

The Million Man March was for Black men and their sons to show solidarity in improving their communities - and was supported by Black women. Not exactly a responsibility for 'white' men to show up - right? This was an effort to assume responsibility for their community - something 'whites' have been saying they needed to do - and then criticized them for making the effort. There was no anti-white talk at this gathering - just love and support for the community. La Raza - support for Hispanic causes. In some states, Hispanics are considered 'whites' - so they were there. Take responsibility for yourselves - but don't get together to do it? What kind of message is that? (A message that is heard - and ignored because of the fear and insincerity associated with it.)

Your problem is you can't handle tax-paying, prosperous citizens rallying against the radical policies of your beloved leftists....ie:racists.
Minorities can't feel welcome joining persons with similar concerns if they call minorities morons/tax sucking/ illegals.. . right?

Tea Party is a ‘bowel movement,’ says ACORN boss Bertha Lewis

ACORN chief organizer Bertha Lewis praised socialism and said the Tea Party was a “bowel movement” filled with racists in a speech to a left-wing youth group, a new video shows.

Obama was born out of the same corrupt organation (ACORN) that his "woman" (??) now heads up. She's a socialist and so is Barack Obama - at least Bertha is man enough to admit it. She's probably David Mom's sister!

Hey Bertha, your "bowel movement" now resides in the White House and goes by the name "Obama" and has two darling little turdlings.

What do you mean by "all people like Obama"? Liberals? Democrats? Community organizers? Oh you mean "BLACK"! Took me a second to decode YOUR little code there.

No I do not. There are plenty, and not limited to the following: Tony Dungy, Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell, Herman Cain, Thomas Sowell.

Unlike how you would love to portray me, I am far from a racist. Losers and imcompetents come from all races and all political ideologies. You don't know me, you dont know anything about me. If I met you on the street you wouldn't have any clue who I was. I'm a native Georgian and have lived within 40 miles of where I currently live my entire life. I'm comforatble in a room full of whites, a room full of blacks, or in a multi-ethnic room.

You liberals on here try to make anyone that opposes your boy Obama to be a racist. I oppose anyone who wants to take MY money and give it to someone undeserving of it. I work hard for my money and it pi$$es me off when people that won't get off their lazy a$$es and work, expect me to support them. Just because you are alive, does not give you the right to have everything that I have, you need to earn it.

talking about ALL liberals,I'm too intelligent to make that assumption. Its just that in the current administration and their followers it seems perfectly acceptable to want to give people things they didn't earn, by simply taking it from others.

every time we pay a tax! Its not that I'm against all taxes per say. But anytime taxes increase to pay for some new program it pi$$es me off. Get rid of the pork, on BOTH sides of the aisle, clean up the corruption and frivolous spending then come talk to me about increasing my taxes.
