Mike King for Council Post 2
In announcing my candidacy I pledge to do my utmost to restore the dignity of the office and the thoughtful consideration of views opposite my own. In a democracy such as ours each of us has a voice, but we all must support the decisions of our institution.
Being but one of five voices I realize that my priorities for our city must be placed in context with those of the four other members of Council as each of us will have been elected on individual merits. As such, my three primary goals for these two years are as follows:
• Seek and obtain approval to change the election of all Council members to even numbered years so as to insure a greater voter turnout and, in effect, have city officials elected by a greater majority of its citizens.
• Enact a zero based budgeting process whereby Council determines the revenue ceiling and city department heads and city departments are tasked to live within the means provided.
• Establish the office of Public Safety Director encompassing both police and fire.

Together we can make a difference.

Thank you.

You got my vote!

One of the best ideas I have heard in a long time is to shift the voting from an "off" election to a presidential year.
That was done last year with the ESplost and young parents who are the stakeholders in the school system turned out and passed it. These same parents need to be better informed and participate in the local election too. They are the future for Peachtree City and they need a voice in local affairs. For years it's only been 6,000+ super voters.

Great suggestions, and iur city will get back on track with council members like you and a new mayor!

Thanks

let's start hanging at mimi's cause this group right here in this room are the big contributors and we can see most all of them in one place and sit close enough to hear their 'bs'.

Pumpkin & a question

Do you only support wimps? Why would you not like to see a stand-up person on council? And you just want to go eavesdrop---not join in and add to the conversation--figures.

I'm not a resident of PTC. Mr King says:

If his actions reflect his words - he may be a good candidate. I have no desire to 'hear' THEIR conversation - but enjoy! :-)

i understand your response

you are right. I based my 'comment' on past history of mr. king on other issues and the comments of those in this room who give their support. I look for some concept of a leader with thoughtful comments. there will always be pro and con thoughts on the direction of PTC but they must be stated in a different tone. one can disagree but the sometime unnecessary comments need to be cleaned up.

Good luck. A little real world nitty gritty experience is a valuable commodity.
