There Will Be Blood!

This view is one expressed by President Obama. In an interview with the “Concord Monitor” then candidate Obama decried the “50 plus 1 pattern of presidential politics.” It was Obama’s opinion that it made governance impossible. He was adamant that healthcare reform could not be passed with a simple majority vote. He did not mean to say that passing a healthcare bill was not possible with a one vote majority. Rather he was expressing the assured acknowledgement that passing such monumental legislation in such a manner and without the support of the minority party would rob it of its necessary legitimacy. It has become apparent that in this, as is clearly the case in so many things, Obama was merely blowing smoke.

Legitimacy can’t be had through backroom bribery, arm twisting and procedural maneuvers that corrupt and make a mockery of the spirit that enervates the principles of procedure, rule and law. Nor can it be had through default – by being the only other choice on the ballot. Legitimacy must be won the old fashioned way: it must be earned by nurturing the trust of the people.

President Obama & the democrat party have proven over and over that they cannot be trusted. They have all betrayed our country to the whims of the special interest groups.

Looking forward to the 'Neutering in November"

Kawfi: Blood!

Not sure whose blood will be shed over the health care bill--it appears today as if it will be the partisan republicans!!! At least a number of democrats voted no.....not one single republican!

There has been such deals made for important bills since Julius Caesar and his Senate!

The only important thing is that 216 minimum in the House vote Yes, and 51 in the Senate vote yes.
I think the deals were eliminated in the final bill; government run insurance was eliminated; money for abortions was elimianted; and several other things the republicans wanted!

I don't think a republican would have given the democrats the future credit for this bill if they had gotten EVERYTHING THEY WANTED.

Now the republicans have no crutch for the next elections, just credit for standing in the way!
They may be done for and the TEAS may run candidates.

Bunk.. You need some new hearing aids

But don't worry the bill hasn't made it to the Presidents desk yet.. The Republicans have found a set finally and is going to block it and send it back to the house.. for a re-vote.. By then the real CBO count will come out along with Independent sources as to what's in this.. Since they don't know..

"I will remind you of what you just said in a few weeks when all is evaluated."

I think I know what you mean Bonker$. Like when you were caught LYING on here this weekend??? Like when your old posts were referenced where one time you claimed to have voted for McCain in 2008 and then in 2010 denied voting for him this past election? In the "Hey House, deem this" folder under the National forum?? Where Hutch reference your post intending to vote for McCain also?? Where after being confronted with a timeline of your lies you wanted to "clear it all up without years mentioned"??? I stand by what I said on here Bonker$. Plus, I am man enough to deal with what I said, unlike you.

"If you continue this stupid argument into the election you are toast!"

We'll see in November old man....

Damn rats are on their way out.

There wont be but a few democrats left by Christmas. All the way to to the top pig pelosi. Serves them right. And now watch the states line up to sue the government. Barack will really age now. He will be a totally gray haired by the time he is voted out. Yup another 1 term president. Then maybe they can fix what he screwed up.

You think? No wonder you support it you buffoon.

"I think the deals were eliminated in the final bill;"

Reportedly the only special deals removed were the Cornhusker Kick-back and Gator-Aid. However, they were somehow replaced by new deals for Kent Conrad in North Dakota and something for Tennessee and Hawaii. To echo what S.L. said, try doing a little research before making things up. Hint: you can find it on CNN, since you obviously need some direction.

So, the health bill passed, they are calling it a historical

victory, I see it as a day of infamy. Yeah,I know Bonkie was all for it--that right there meant we should all be against it. Let's see how many trillions this climbs to before it is even instituted. That slope just got slipprier and slipprier. Scary, scary, scary.

All is well. Don't worry. Even worse things were said about FDRs Social Security and for Medicare! And for the Civil Rights bill about schools and drugstores and water fountains!

Now we must go on to providing jobs for people in the 25K to 70K range that actually produce something worthwhile. Many in the healthcare fields (pharmaceuticals, hospitals, doctor's offices, con artist store fronts selling leg socks, wheel chairs, etc.) will lose their "jobs" and we must find decent work for them also!

Ever heard of WPA? (we piddle around) well we may need some of that also for those who want to piddle instead of drawing unemployment. Would reduce unemployment costs!

Georgia could use a dam or two-----put thousands on that and get it done (git er dun). Sell bonds to pay for this and give bondholders some ownership in the dam and power company and water and recreational uses.

I say double our military right now. Let the Guard stay here to handle protesters. Lot of jobs there.

I could go on about what to do immediately but there is only so much we can handle for the next six months!

Social Security and Medicare are bankrupt, you dufus!!

If part of the "savings" from this health care bill will supposedly come from reducing waste, why didn't the dems try to do it over the past 3-1/2 years that they have been in power???

I'll tell you why - because this bill was never about doing something for the American people. It was to put more power in the hands of government and so that Obama could put a notch in his belt.

They are not broke as long as we have credit left! Reagan and Bush proved that with their deficits.

Anyway, finally this new bill refinances and slenders down the Medicare expenses. Dems didn't do it due to White House Leadership was missing!

I am deducing from your comments that you don't want our government to be strong! Did you want Reagan's and the Bush's to be strong? I don't understand that.
Corporate America and the Insurance companies had about 100 years to supply affordable health insurance for everyone. They didn't do it because they didn't want it.

As to doofus (I guess you meant) inept people can't do anything or have any improving thoughts. Fits you better than me!

is going to be really sad when he figures out that Medicare availability is about to dry up. As the feds clamp down on payments to providers and make the per patient profit unreasonable, more providers will opt out of servicing Medicare patients. Why bother if there is no money in it? This will work for awhile, with seniors having to pay for supplemental insurance to go out of network, but eventually the feds will require that all licensed doctors have to take Medicare. At that point, there will be an exodus from the doctors ranks. Then we will get our doctors from other countries. 20 years or so to fruition.

Medicare drop-outs already happening....

and that's before last night's HC bill. I have zero doubt you are absolutely right that the govt is going to step in and require that everyone takes Medicare/Medicaid before too long. You cannot artificially control a market without having the means to impose your will as a mandate on that marketplace, and the Feds certainly have that power and I see no one standing in front of that train to stop it.

As far as importing all of our doctors......I don't see it. A lot of them already here left their own countries to come work in the US with a capitalistic, free market approach and now the US is heading into the same kludge as the countries they left in the first place. Not much incentive to leave one screwed-up socialized health care country you were born in for another one abroad that you weren't.

NUK, just look to the other countries

that have implemented this and its successor, Single Payer Option. Local talent dries up and imported doctors come in. In Great Britain, they are coming from Arab countries and are helping radicalize islam in GB. Here it is a continuation of the joke that is called a constitutional government. The constitution has come to mean whatever the majority feels it means and our country suffers as a result.

Well Bonker$, certainly not the insurance...

companies. They're providing a coverage for those that purchase their products. Yeah, I know you are going tell us all about those excessive profits of those evil insurance companies. So lets put that into sometime you liberals can understand - I hope. Those profits amount to only about 48 hours of health care coverage given that in the US we spend almost $251 million every single hour for health care. So I just have to laugh at the liberal tough talk of "we be stickn' it to the insurance companies". As soon as those insurance companies determine that there is no profit in this endeavour they will move to greener pastures.

Now with no insurance available, how is anyone going to pay for $100,000 surgical procedure or a $1,000,000+ heart transplant. Well, the "Guv" will have a solution. It's not in this bill but it will be in the next. Do you need a hint or have you figure it out yet? Oh, and remember Pelosi said that access to health care is a right.

Now as to your question of how we got into this situation - Congress. They enacted wage and price controls prior to WWII so companies instead added benefits such as health insurance which isn't taxable. That created haves and "have nots". But before you slam this just remember that health care innovations, new drugs, and technologies came about due to one thing, the concept of ROI.

Yep, Bonkie Poo, I have heard of WPA, too bad our president and

others in Washington seem to have never heard of it. Sure would be more worthwhile to put the people out of work to work repairing the infra-structure of our cities all over the country instead of extending the unemployment over and over. Instead of giving people a reason not to seek jobs (hey, I can make more by not working, why settle for a lower paying job?) put them to work and help our country at the same time. Another suggestion, train those who could not do manual labor to do other tasks needed. For instance, train day care workers and have free day care for those who can work at other jobs. Sure would beat just sending out those checks every month. But hey, I am not a czar, or high paid consultant so what do I know?? Of course, Bonkers, you will have much to say while not saying much, as usual.

Republican losers

It is very clear that Republicans lost big time on the health care debate and votes.

Republicans lost because they have bet their future on the ideology of Southern conservatism and sold their souls to right wing talk show radio. Republicans have abandoned any pretense of appealing to middle of the road Americans to the need of appeasing the right wing nuts. Beck. Limbaugh. Hannity, etc. are uneducated, fear mongering entertainers using outrage radio and TV to excite fearful and angry Americans.

Historically, the majority party loses seats in Congress in the off year election. The Republicans may pick up a few seats. But I predict that most Americans--Independents and Democrats--will vote for the hope and optimism of Obama and the Democrats instead of the ugly, fear mongering of the Republicans.

In general I agree about your comment, however I don't see the current "conservatism" as "southern." any more than the ones in our middle states. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arizona, Idaho, and Montana come to mind.

These latest screwballs who go around shooting someone near the Pentagon, flying an airplane into the IRS building, spitting on some congressmen and calling others racial names, and so forth, are people who are easily influenced by the likes of Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, O'reilly, and the fake blond witch!

You've got to turn your channel to more that Fox News Cable. Are you identifying yourself with those FEW crazies who feel they have to use racial slurs in order to get their point across in a discussion? Those are the haters - are you one of those? They 'bleep' denigrating words that are used by those who take the road of ignorance. Of course some who are in agreement with those who are against the health care bill may deny such ignorant action - because it reflects on their own integrity. One of the links that I offered was from CBS news. Everyone is aware that those few people who resort to such tactics do not represent the mainstream. SL - you protest too loud. Racism is alive and well. If you don't see it, you're blind. Ignorance is alive and well. I do not think you are ignorant - you just refuse to see that there is ignorance and racism alive in our world. It is the tactics of those that we frown upon to throw bricks into offices, make phone calls to homes, threaten families of our lawmakers, etc. THIS IS NOT THE AMERICAN WAY - and by continuing this road, independents will look for persons with integrity to represent them - not the loonies. I don't think you are a looney - but to deny their existence is burying your head in the sand.

Do you know what his crime was???

I posted this when it happened and you know what not a peep from you not one little post denouncing those UNION THUGS even though they beat up a BLACK MAN..

Now my question to you is..

Did you not care because he was a teaparty member or just another OREO?

btw.. Your links were to reports of what THEY said happened DM.. You do understand that's not EVIDENCE that it actually occurred right?
That by someone saying it happened but offering NO PROOF is not in anyway FACTUAL. It simple conjecture a STORY.. Until proof is offered as fact....

DM I asked a simple question if 5+ TV News agencies and DOZENS of Print media were there Taping the event and Cameras were all over the protesters as Pelosi duck walked right through them don't cha think just one MIC would have picked it up.. Just ONE? BUT YET NOT A SINGLE PHOTO OR TAPE OR IMPARTIAL WITNESS CAN VERIFY THE REPORT.. Yet dozens of people who were actually there said it never happened..

at those who only point out ignorance when it helps make THEIR point. This is the first time that I heard about the SEIU fiasco. Ignorance is ignorance - no matter who displays it. Why didn't you let us know about this before? After viewing it (did you?) - it proves that we have ignorant racists in this country that missed the message on non-violent protest. As far as 'who heard the use of the racial slur? - many - but why keep pointing out what has happened to minority and women leaders in this country for decades? I noticed that those who posted on your selected site had to express how they hated 'blacks' using the 'n' word. Sad. I know you are aware of algebraic concepts - but this is one time that two negatives do NOT MAKE A POSITIVE. Denigrating/attacking others based on race, gender, etc. is ignorant. Don’t you agree?

No - too much satisfaction in the passage of the bill to waste energy on outrage over the N word. Criminal acts? Yes there is outrage - and should be outrage all over this country. We just don't settle disagreements by shooting at one another. No one is really concerned about your suspicions - the reality of this ugliness is too well documented in this country. Put up, shut up, or clam up.....which will it be????

"No one is really concerned about your suspicions - the reality of this ugliness is too well documented in this country."

Speaking of ugliness being documented.....an interesting gauntlet has been thrown down. According to that conservative stalwart, The AJC, Andrew Breitbart has offered $10,000 of his own money for hard proof that the N-word was used on John Lewis, David Scott or anyone else in that group the other day. Oh by the way, Breitbart does not require all alleged 15 times it occurred. He only needs....ONE.

Two of the people in Lewis' group had cameras/recording devices held up in the air as they walked. You don't think they had them primed and ready just in case the N-word flew, do you? Now, ask yourself this one simple question. If ANYONE in his entourage, any news agency, any bystander with video or audio had caught the first use of the word that day, tell me how you figure it has not been played to death on the air, with and without the bleeps. Heard it anywhere yet? Me either.

Breitbart even gives Lewis a soft landing spot if he cannot produce such evidence. All he has to do is pass a lie detector test and he gets the money. And even better, Breitbart has said he will donate the money to the United Negro College Fund. Now, where is the peril here? Why doesn't he get them that proof? Why doesn't he take a lie detector test? Don't tell me because he is a U.S. Representative who is above all that. He made the claim, now back it up. He can prove that it happened, shut people up, and make money for a favorite black charity. Will he or won't he? Of course he won't. He can't.

Not many conservatives would be 'proud' to hear those words. . would they? That this is even being discussed in 2010 is sad. Now there is question about the bullet fired into Cantor's office. What foolishness. If you feel that lies were told - fine. If you feel it is true - are you proud? Let's see what the investigation reveals. Why is it so important for you to find out if John Lewis is a liar? Do you feel that anyone should have been attacked because of disagreement? What is going to 'fire up' the Republicans - "hell no?" Oh, oh the Cantor bullet incident is now being questioned. Shame on all those who believe that violence will make a difference. Now Cantor wants to move on . . . and not make this ugliness an issue. Maybe Lewis and others in the Black Caucus feel the same way. Cantor's point is that much of this ugliness is bi-partisan and wants people to stop talking - and evidently you agree. To try to raise money from this ugliness is scraping the bottom of the barrel. I'm sure you and the majority of conservatives and liberals are above this.

The reality is John Lewis and others made the claim. A claim they cannot prove. A claim that had a staged, well timed look to it. It would not be the first time racism charges have been thrown out in a time of turmoil. It has been used effectively in the past. That is precisely why the challenge was made. The challenge/offer will not be acknowledged, but we all know why.

The making money thing.....you do know that both sides have sent emails to solicit donations to fight the other side, right???

One more thing on Lewis. He may be someone you admire, but his involvement in that campaign ad for John Eaves years ago showed his true character (along with Shirley Franklin and Andy Young). Remember the text of the ad?

""This is Congressman John Lewis."

"And I'm Mayor Shirley Franklin"

"And I'm Andy Young"

(John Lewis) "On November 7th we face the most dangerous situation we ever have. If you think fighting off dogs and water hoses in the sixties was bad, imagine if we sit idly by and let the right-wing Republicans take control of the Fulton County Commission."

(Shirley Franklin) "The efforts of Martin and Coretta King, Hosea Williams, Maynard Jackson and many others will be lost. That's why we must stand up and we must turn out the vote for the Democrats on Election Day."

(Andy Young) "And especially for John Eaves for Fulton County Commission Chairman. Unless you want them to turn back the clock on equal rights and human rights and economic opportunity for all of us, vote for John Eaves as Fulton County Chairman"

(Lewis) "Your very life may depend on it."

(John Eaves) "This message paid for by the committee to elect John Eaves."

Did you catch all that? You may not see the word black or white, but the intention and insinuations were undeniable. To the point the ad was eventually pulled. Another reason why John Lewis is not held in high regard by everyone. Now, time to put up or shut up John.....

Gap in health care law's protection for children

Under the new law, insurance companies still would be able to refuse new coverage to children because of a pre-existing medical problem, said Karen Lightfoot, spokeswoman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, one of the main congressional panels that wrote the bill President Barack Obama signed into law Tuesday.

Republicans lost because they have bet their future on the ideology of Southern conservatism and sold their souls to right wing talk show radio.

We need an invigorated two party system (checks and balances) in a democracy. The ugliness observed in the 'southern' conservatism overshadows many of their sincere concerns about the economy. Lion - I think your observation is right on. Those who were around in the 50's and 60’s see the ugly head of the ideology of fear and hate raising it's ugly head. What a shame. Fayette County is in the heart of conservative America. The rest of the country will go with 'hope' and 'optimism'. Republicans will come along and participate with legislation regarding jobs (this has already happened) - but using 'health care' for Americans as an issue that appeals to the far right will be a mistake. Americans will elect persons who will work for them - not a 'party'. Although there is serious concern about our economy for future generations - Americans are not going to REPEAL law that is saving children and providing health care TODAY.

Our founding fathers set up a system to iron out our differences in a civilized manner. . .the call to the tactics of 'blood' is UNAMERICAN. Backroom maneuvers have been part of politics since before the founding of the United States. You do not nurture the 'trust of the people’ by throwing bricks into legislators’ offices or using racial slurs - right? Words are powerful. I'm sure you did not intend for 'blood' to mean violence - but some of the loonies are ready to misread intentions.

Rep. Cantor's Richmond Campaign Office Shot at Overnight

Republican Rep. Eric Cantor's Richmond campaign office was shot at Wednesday night, Fox News has learned, the latest in a rash of apparent threats and acts of intimidation against members of Congress.

Republican Rep. Eric Cantor's Richmond campaign office was shot at Wednesday night, Fox News has learned, the latest in a rash of apparent threats and acts of intimidation against members of Congress.

Most of the threats so far have been reported by Democrats, but Cantor -- the No. 2 Republican in the House -- is one of about 10 lawmakers who has asked for increased security protection, Fox News has learned. As a member of the House leadership, U.S. Capitol Police already provide Cantor with a security detail around the clock, but he has asked for more security.

As House Republican whip, Cantor is the highest elected Jewish politician in the country.

The Department of Homeland Security is involved in the Cantor case because he is a member of the House leadership.

Fox News has also obtained a threatening message left Friday on the voicemail of Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Ohio.

Enough is enough! This is not about conservatives vs. liberals. This is about those who would resort to criminal action in order to voice their discontent. Do you approve the conservatives’ actions and disapprove the liberals’ actions? It's a misnomer to give anyone who acts in this fashion a label that belongs to honest Americans who act with integrity. The name callers, brick throwers are criminals. None of them deserve support. Thanks for your information garnered from Fox News.
