Yes your new website looks great but the search options need to improve. it is my job to search for "Media Mentions". When I search your new website, several articles (2 pages worth) come up dating back about 3 months. They are in a random order, or maybe a "relevance" order. I need them to be in Date order beginning with most recent OR add an option for me to put them in this order. PLEASE!! Thanks.

Search by date -- not a quick fix

Webmaster is looking at options. Built-in native search lacks that function. Add-on search is not a no-brainer; comes with multiple issues. We're seeking solutions.

hmmm... "add on search is not a no brainer"? It seems that I learned to search by strings in a particular order in Programming 101. Perhaps you paid far too much for that new native system.

Any progress on this?? It's driving me crazy! Your search options are just not typical or helpful.

On the advanced area, can you not just put a checkbox for "Today's Articles" or "Articles since the date: xx/xx/xx"?? If I had that at least I could search through a few results instead of finding an article dated today put 3 pages behind one dated in January!!

A checkbox is easy. Please say you can do at least that.
Thanks.

This article below shows up in the Search with a 4/12 date but the article/link itself is dated 4/7 (??). There are no updates and comments either, making your site VERY difficult to search on.

Socmed: Why

I have read your requests with puzzlement!
Are you trying to use this site for your research?
All I want from it is to research only those who participate here and what they say!

What would what you desire do to help me?

Ehhhhh

Adding a checkbox is easy. Making it do something is not. Making changes in the core functionality of the site is somewhat dangerous and makes it very hard to keep the site updated.

I am looking into a solution for this, but you must understand that there have been other priorities ahead of this one. Unfortunately there are numerous options I could use for the search and none of them are ideal - but that's just the way these things normally go.

Thanks.

Thanks Webmaster. Please just keep on it, and keep it on the list. Perhaps you can pay a nominal charge to the company/developers who sold you this very inflexible system (inflexible to your customized changes) so your list won't be quite so long. Point them to other local online newspapers and their search options and maybe their fee will be waived. Nothing motivates a developer faster than pointing out obvious flaws in their work, especially pointed out by another developer!
Thanks.
