42 - we've come a long way!
This movie about the integration of baseball is a reason to celebrate the American spirit and some great American heroes. Branch Rickey, Pee Wee Reese and Jackie Robinson are true role models, and all of our children should know their story. Although Jackie Robinson attended integrated schools and graduated from UCLA in California, he was exposed to the ignorance of racism in the US. He had a talent that Mr. Ricky realized would propel the Dodgers to the pennant and bring a lot of money to the Dodger organization. The actions of Pee Wee Reese should never be hid in the history books. All Americans should rejoice at the outcome of this story and celebrate how far we have come in the area of race-relations. So much attention is given to the ugliness of our race relation history, the telling of the story of 42 should be repeated over and over again - so no one forgets how good can win over evil. 42 - an American story!
