Why can't I find Jeff's comment to MOC (no MOC)?
Also:
The TWO lists of comments are sometimes confusing! They are different.

Personally, I think one's point of reference upon loggin should be a list of comments for every category for at least two days. Some of us skip a few days at a time.

I know one can check out each category but that means reading stuff you have seen or do not care about!

Working as Intended

The two lists are different because they're supposed to be so. The title of the second one is "More Recent Comments." It's a continuation of the first list further down the page due to space constraints.

Webmaster - Not impressed

I'm not impressed with much of the new layout.

The front page seems cluttered and difficult to navigate. Ads often seem to cover portions of the articles. The old layout with the comments and forum topics running down the right column was much easier to follow. The simpler layout of the secondary pages of the new site are far superior to the Front Page.

Overall, I would estimate my personal views of TheCitizen.com are down to 10% of what they were before the revision. That means your web advertisers are getting 10% of the ad views compared to before. That's not good for your bottom line.

It would be interesting to see your page view stats since the revision.

If you are trying to get rid of some of the regular bloggers it worked.(with me) This is the first time I have been able to log on & post a comment since it changed.
It takes too long to find the comments and I don't have the time. It was so much easier before...I got on the site, saw all the comments, and chose the one I wanted to comment on!
One positive note...the layout of the news is better.

Not a fan of The Citizen site anymore,

Tug :(

Webmaster, just

got the "Access denied" when I tried post a reply--what's that all about. I echo Tug's feeling--ease of participation way down, which makes interest go the same way. Too bad.

Access Denied

What I suspect happened is the spam-catching service was unable to be reached for a little bit there, but I don't have proof of that yet. I can't find the log of your access denied, which makes finding out why you were denied difficult.

Appreciate the reply. All I can say is "It never happened before". Just another example of "ALL change is NOT good!"

I have to agree with Tug and AtHome, I'm not a real fan of the way comments are presented. While I work on a computer all day long, have adapted to new and improvements of systems, etc. I still find it hard to navigate to getting to a comment. The general layout of the new site is good, but our comment thing is just not what it used to be.

And it is such a simple thing!

Line up the comments for a reasonable time and take you to the one clicked directly...they don't all have to be listed at the same time on the Front page! Just click for the rest of the list!

Maybe easiness of use and (unplanned) hiding some comments is what tees off some and isn't desired!!!!!

Free Speech columns seems to be dead also.

Any kind of censorship other than obvious foul language does not work in the USA, or anywhere.
Google is finding that out in China!

We are working to improve the comment feature

We hope to have changes to the way comments are viewed and listed within the next 72 hours (now Thursday, 4:37 p.m.)

We are listening and are attempting to remedy the problems.

Don't feel too badly.
Programmers of all sorts are insufficiently trained any more.

I just went through this with Google mail and with ATT u-Verse.
Still a mess.

Anyway, the simpler the better---I think. I appreciate your tenacity.

Excellent improvement

Just happened across the extended comments list and found it makes keepng current much easier. Don't know when it started, but is seems activity is up significantly over the before the fix period. Thanks!

Forum Comments!

Is it standard practice for comments made directly on the forum NOT to be shown on the list of recent comments?

Is the only way to read comments to the forum to search the forum or read all of them?

My two cents

I, too, have felt a little discombobulated regarding the new system. Credited most to 'age' and inability to 'change'. However, I note continued improvement. Keep up the good work!

Yes

There's a really long button on each news article, gallery, blog, etc titled Share / Save that has about a billion-and-a-half options for that kind of thing. It's directly to the left of the voting buttons and beneath the categories.

Don't mean to be obtuse

On my blog "Of Course Obamacare" there is not a button for Share / Save next to the vote button.. AM I missing it?

You're Not Missing It

You have a forum thread, not a blog. Forum threads are themed substantially differently from the rest of the site. Reworking the template for forum threads and comments to include voting / sharing (in addition to not looking so drab) is something I want to do, but it may be a while until I can get that far down the list.

TL;DR - Soon™.
