Dinner With My Parents
My Dad was recollecting tonight a time when "Made in the USA" meant something. I wish it did today.
Lazy Fair (French?) makes the rich richer and the poor poorer, as is demonstrated by the last two years and maybe several more!
Unregulated thieves always go as far as possible because few go to jail, and ayway the fortune is made already!
Poor throttle software Japanese autos and poison kids toys from China don't help either.
We can't even make peanut butter here, however, anymore! OSHA lets the roofs leak on the nuts! The plant manager doesn't care since he doesn't go to jail! Neither does the owner.
Want some recalled hamburger--real cheap---still in freezers somewhere. Maybe Oprah was right about that.
This won't make it past the censor.
geee, Bonkers, you watch Oprah??
The topic being discussed has nothing to do with monopolies or poor quality control. The OP is talking about how "Made in the USA" is supposed to mean something - presumably in some moral or ethical manner. I disagree with this heartily because it's in such opposition to the way our markets are supposed to work. In the end, if I want product X, I'm buying it from whoever is selling to me cheapest.
Also, deliberately provoking the censor(s) is probably not the best idea.
Please don't tell me what to do when it is obvious my comment is about the subject!
Guess you would buy a Toyoto if it were the cheapest, huh? Have never owned a foreign car.
Let the market decide unregulated went out with the English and tea tax!
I'd buy a toyota in a heartbeat, it's a better built car than american union built junk......we now have gmc.....goverment motor company.....no thank you.....
NAFTA made it difficult to buy American products because it's just so much cheaper for these corporations to set up shop in Mexico and then ship it here...
I don't always buy a product because it's cheaper... I appreciate something of a higher quality... chinese products usually left more to be desired in that area...
I've always hated people and organizations who used this phrase. This marketing practice seems pretty disingenuous to me in a nation originally built on laissez-faire capitalism. I'll stick with whoever can provide me with the best value - you can't have your cake and eat it to.
