An open letter to the Citizens of Clayton County...
WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU???
For one 37% of you voted for Victor Hill a man under indictment for 37 counts for everything from Racketeering to theft by taking, making false statements, influencing a witness and violating his oath of office to name just a few.
So why did 37.5% of Clayton County citizens vote for a man who in all likelihood have to leave office so he can go to jail? He lost his POST certification and the Governor may even suspend him should he win the election today.
This might explain a lot of it...
"I believe Victor Hill is the best choice to deal with the crime situation in Clayton County because the crime statistics were much lower while he was in office," Lt. Tina Daniel said in a release to the AJC.
"According to Georgia Bureau of Investigation data, there were 14,934 incidents, including 19 murders, in the seven major crime categories reported in 2004, the year before Hill took office. In 2008, Hill's last year as sheriff, there were 15,959 crimes, including 31 murders, recorded. The first year Kimbrough was in office, there were 14,628 crimes, including 18 murders, and last year there were 14,691, with 26 homicides."
So I guess "Lieutenant" Tina Daniels can't count or she just knows how to spin a good story.. why let facts interfere with that? I mean that is a Politicians best skill set after all.
Now don't get me wrong I am not impressed with Sheriff Kembrough either and in fact he has some legal issues of his own with his Sexual Harassment charges.
So couldn't the Citizens of Clayton County found someone anyone that isn't facing legal issues? Maybe, but one thing I do know.. Being a retired LEO, I know for fact that leadership is a top down proposition. The Deputies and Police of Clayton County take their cues and their professionalism from the duly elected Officials and the Constituency they all serve. Citizens voting for an ex-Sheriff under indictment sends a message to the Deputies of Clayton County and it's not a good one.
