Predicting the resignation of John Boehner
I think the Speaker should and will step down before the election. He is most probably factually and certainly figuratively the architect of the Republican strategy to take back the Congress and Presidency by launching a long and fractious assault on governing. At the time President Obama was elected the opposition recognized there was a serious problem with the optimistic and positive feeling in the electorate. It appears that the decision was made to wage a long term strategy designed to create a revolutionary level of dissatisfaction. The calculation was to start this process very early and reach a calamitous crest in order to win at election time. After a long and painful period of dysfunctional politics it is becoming clearer that this strategy has neither energized the base nor drawn in new support. Even my most ardent conservative friends are tired of the situation and uneasy. Our country is at a standstill and the Speaker must bear the blame. As each day of election sludge slides by the country continues to linger on the edge of the pool and his miscalculation becomes more of a liability. I predict he will step down on October 13th plus or minus ten days.
