Driving a golf cart on the paths is supposed to be enjoyable at a nice, leisurely pace, not hauling ass at 20+ mph and tearing around blind curves in the middle of the path! If you're in such a damn hurry to get somewhere, take your car!

Actually the path system is

Actually the path system is suppose to be an alternate means of moving about not necessarily for someone to driver slower then I can walk. While I dislike those driving at a high rate of speed just as much as you do, I hate even more people driving at 2 or 3 miles per hour because they are to lazy to 'walk' their dogs, I hate parents and grandparents using our path systen to teach their 3 year old how to drive, I hate when adults overload a golf cart with 9 or 10 people including an infant under one arm and their shoulder krinked to side because they are on a cell phone, & I hate joggers thinking that they own the path and refusing to move their fat ass over when I come behind them.

Too much hate, snowbunny

I have paint balls and nails waiting for you when you and your 13 year old kids tailgate me. Agree that 2 or 3 mph is too slow, also agree that 25 or 30 mph (and tailgating to get attention) is too fast. Dogs - especially old dogs get a complete pass. They are God's creatures.

Be aware, snow bunny. Some are out there with their defensive weapons. Water balloons with red or orange dye is a great defensive weapon against the silly little teenagers. They have to explain the stain - think about that one - Splain the stain! to Mommy and Daddy.

Not hard - Some inconsiderate

Not hard - Some inconsiderate jerk wanted to block the entire path with their cart and when I honked and tried to pass, they threw something at me. I probably would have questioned this answer at first but thanks to your reply, I now know there really are such horrific people on our path system.

If I am behind a jerk, I pick up my phone and call the police and inform them of what is happening. More times then not within 5 minutes the cart is on the side of the road being lectured or even cited. As for your defensive weapons, it can be easily be argued that your nails and paint balls was a deliberate attempt to cause an accident and harm. Are you willing to go to jail because you want to block the center of the road. Not for me, I'd prefer to move over and enjoy the path system.

We have places in our community which have been designed for dogs. I do not believe our city fathers intended for someone to 'walk' their dog in their golf cart. I'm guessing you do not own animals (let's hope you don't) as you do not realize some of those lazy dog owners are pretty much dragging their old dog along side the cart.

Good Luck Snow Bunny

Yes many people here are inconsiderate, rude jerks. That's just they way it is in PTC. Disrespectful neighbors are the norm not the exception. We have to choose to live with it or move.

The police aren't going to help you or care when you call. Good luck with that. They will tell you in a sing song taunting voice to call the Sheriff's Dept. ...maybe they will help you. We do have a good Sheriff's Dept. and they will help you. The cart paths are the way they are because the police don't care, never have, and they never will. I guess they can make more money using 2 or 3 cops for a traffic stop. It's just the way it is. For the sake of people trying to sell homes here we need to keep this quiet and move on.

Mudcat is right get revenge when you can. You will never be caught so go for it.

Stay on the paths

I am the cyclist hit, and criticaly injured by the teen drivers on the golf cart driven ON THE ROAD. I was safe, doing what I was supposed to be doing. Shame on the drivers, they never apologized to me nor asked me if I was ok as I lay with blood gushing from my body on the side of the road.

Staying on the Paths

Actually Amy City ordinance state that Bicycles are to ride on City cart paths when said path runs along the roadway. So in actuality you weren't doing what you were suppose to be doing. Now while I am terribly sorry for the injuries that you incurred and the cart driver should have been sited, you should have been on the path that runs along Kelly Dr.
Of late PTC has been over run with cyclist (a good number of them not PTC citizens) and as a whole we don't mind until they start riding 2-3-4 wide and inhibiting traffic and running Stop signs (which they do on a regular basis).
I hope for your speedy recovery.

LongTimer and paths

Actually, PTC Code 78-12 states "it shall be unlawful for anyone to ride a bicycle on the streets of the city where a "paved bicycle path" is available along the same route." The problem with this is that there are no paved bicycle paths in PTC nor are they defined by PTC code. PTC code refers to the paths as "multi-use paths". I suspect that's why PTC police did not cite Ms. Hill.

I am not a cyclist, but as a motorist I share the road. Especially on the "city designated cyclist routes" that includes Kelley Dr/Macintosh.
I suspect Amy was well within her right to be riding on the street, but the golf cart had no business cutting the corner outside of the designated crossing point and no where near a multi use trail.
