Fast and Furious... Playing Fast and Loose with the facts

This is one of the most devious and convoluted stories I have heard in a very long time.

This story begins as a plot to tighten gun laws in America. A plot that sounds ready for a B rate made for TV movie.

According to a new book by Katie Pavlich , "Fast and Furious: Barack Obama's Bloodiest Scandal and Its Shameless Cover-Up," the whole program
started as a way for the Obama administration to move against the 2nd Amendment and attack legitimate businesses selling guns.

So like all cheap B-rate movie plots the BATF was directed by the Administration to "find" a way to accomplish the goals of making these businesses look
like they are willfully violating Federal Law or at least flaunting loopholes selling weapons to Mexico for the drug cartels.

Fast and Furious was born....

The BATF WITH THE COOPERATION of Gun Dealers sold hundreds of assault weapons to a 3rd party "cut-out" who then took those guns into Mexico for the Drug Cartels.

"In the operation, there was no attempt to track the weapons sold, and some agents who tried to follow the purchasers were told to stand down. Not only that, but our government kept Mexican authorities wholly in the dark about the operation. Allowing these guns to "walk" into Mexico without surveillance and behind the backs of Mexican authorities guaranteed they would end up in the hands of Mexican drug cartels and only be recovered after crimes had been committed, which is exactly what occurred.

As one ATF agent testified to Congress, "you can't allow thousands of guns to go south of the border without an expectation that they are going to be recovered eventually in crimes and people are going to die." Katie Pavlich said in her book

Pavlich names the names of the people responsible for Fast and Furious.

Emory Hurley is an Assistant United States Attorney in Phoenix who headed up the Fast and Furious.

He stood in the way of ATF agents and prevented arrest even when they gave him the perps on a platter. Pavlich records Hurley as saying again and again “no probable cause,” even though video existed of illegal straw purchases.

Hurley even prevented arrests in “a case on grenades.” Pavlich describes emails from cooperative gun dealers expressing concern to Hurley about the safety of border agents, but the dealers were told everything was fine and no guns were going to Mexico. Hurley kept the spigot of guns flowing wide open into Mexico.

Emory Hurley still has a job as an attorney at the Justice Department.

Another ATF Special Agent involved was Bill Newell. Pavlich: “Newell had earned a reputation for punishing those who questioned his authority.” When an ATF agent complained not enough was done to address threats against another agent, Newell retaliated. After the agent’s house was set on fire, “Newell doubled down. He had subordinates accuse [the agent] of purposefully burning down his own home.” A subsequent inspector general report concluded not enough was done to protect the threatened ATF agents, but Newell still has a government job.

Pavlich details in her book the on-going back room plotting by presidential appointees at DOJ. Assistant Attorneys General Lanny Breuer, Ron Weich, and Holder’s current chief of staff Gary Grindler all seem to be the orchestraters and drivers of the program known as Fast and Furious. All still have a job today.

We all know the rest of the Story. Some of those very same weapons were used to Murder U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and murder or the wounding of some 200 Mexican citizens.
The cover-up began almost immediately with certain key members under Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder giving instructions to the BATF to "out" the Gun Dealers for selling illegal weapons.
The "Evidence" didn't hold up as expected... Time-lines are a bit hard to explain when you are trying to concoct evidence. It soon became apparent the BATF was manufacturing the story against the dealers and the real drivers of this scandal is the Administration itself.

The real story here is the cover-up. Eric Holder and Janet Nepolitano both deny having any knowledge of the program. However, the facts belay the truth of this. It would seem impossible for either to NOT know this was happening, if not from the start, but at least at it's implementation. After all paperwork is the boon to the Federal agent and nothing is done unless it is written up in triplicate.
Their one true motto is... If it isn't written down... It didn't happen.

Eric Holder needs to be fired at the very least.. prosecuted at best. The Obama Administration MUST acknowledge the failings of the Bureaucrats and Bureaucracies involved and come clean with what they knew and when they knew it.

The Main Stream Media will not report this... They will not even question it. So what will we the American People do? Ignore it or remind the administration in November?

Holder held in Contempt.. Obama gives him an out

"President Obama has granted Attorney General Eric Holder executive privilege in regard to documents pertaining to Operation “Fast and Furious.”

Holder recently agreed to provide additional subpoenaed documents to members of Congress, including Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), however, the latest move indicates the attorney general has no intention of making good on his promise." AP

....and there it is. If the Whitehouse was NOT involved Obama would never throw this meat laden bone to the RNC.

Now the main stream media says you don't care, that all this is irrelevant.
That the slain Border Patrol Officer is the furtherest thing from your mind. That may well be but those of us that have served will never forget that our Government provided the weapons to the very Criminals we have to fight everyday then lied about it and covered it up.

Makes you wonder what is in those letters

No doubt much more interesting than the letters Haddix and Imker and Meeker did or did not produce.
All the drama makes one think that Holder is up to his neck in this thing. And since Holder is a political animal all the way, he may have been dumb enough not to have given Obama plausible deniability in his zeal to produce some fodder for the gun control whackos. No doubt King Obama was in on this, as all President's are, but few are thrown under the bus by an inexperienced AG who only thinks of the politics of every decision. Must have been Valerie Jarrett's day off. Inexperience is something that will bite you every time. Can't wait to read these letters.

The goal now must be to get the documents out before the election so Drudge can go with a headline that says - Obama guilty of murder in the Brian Terry case. Killing innocent Muslims by drone is one thing, but killing federal agents is quite another.

Intelligence

Remember Rove/Valarie mess? In the past, when there was sensitive information, a bi-partisan committee reviewed the sensitive material. Mitch McConnell has made it quite clear that is not going to happen under his watch. The US has been able to make head way in fighting those who killed 3000 in New York on 9/11 by realizing that plans to combat our enemies cannot be shared, for we have an enemy within. It is more important to leak and discredit the administration than to solve problems for the American people. My heart goes out to the family of the fallen agent. How do we know that making other information 'public' will not cause the death or injury of other agents? This political game stinks - and was the downfall of both the Nixon and Bush administrations IMO.

Dm you got it all wrong....

DM first Valerie Plame was outed by her husband and was not an active agent.. The story was bogus to begin with.

What is in the National Interest that a secretive "committee" must review?

Guns were purchased by the BATF and DOJ agents legally then sent to Mexico Illegally.

PERIOD...and a Border Patrol Officer was Murdered along with hundreds of Mexican Citizens.

This now clearly goes all the way to the Whitehouse. What happened to that transparent Government we were going to have?

This administration doesn't care about the murdered Border Patrol Officer or the innocent Mexican Citizens that were murdered because the victims didn't have the right skin color. It is very clear to thinking Americans that Obama and Holder are racists and they will only address the concerns of black people. Holder is supposed to be going after people that wish to suppress votes, but he refuses to prosecute the Black Panther party for their involvement in voter suppression in 2008.

Obama's Watergate? Maybe...

Joe this has become the most divisive and corrupt administration ever and that includes Wilson's and Roosevelt's.

There are more "scandals" running in and around this Government today then in any other and Pelosi said yesterday she has arrest powers and wants to put Rove in Prison.

I think they all should join him...

Moonbat Pelosi

Congress' approval rating will go up by at least 50% if that moonbat Pelosi is ever voted out. Unfortunately, the bed-wetting libs in California are too stupid to know what's good for them or America.

Call Katie Pavlich as a witness. She seems to have the goods.

Obama by invoking executive privilege is clearly hiding documents that would be worse for him politically should those documents be revealed. If he could throw Holder under the bus, fire him and emerge with clean hands, I am certain he would have already done that. So, those documents probably show some linkage with Obama's White House or maybe Obama himself. This seems much more serious than the Scooter Libby thing. Let's see how it is handled by the press and then we can see if they are really biased.

I guess his political people figure that taking a hit now on hiding info won't hurt that much in November. Probably counting on the toothless Republicans to do the contempt vote and not pursue the documents. It may not matter at all. I'm starting to think that there is not anything that will change voter's minds from this point on. They are either hypnotized by Omama and would vote for him no matter what OR they are fed up with him and his Presidency and will never vote for him. That doesn't mean that those in the second group are enthused about Romney - he's just getting the anti-Obama vote.

Romney's big chance is light turnout among blacks, gays and first time voters. And a strong turnout by women who are nowhere near as dumb as Obama's handlers thought they were and union members who are getting off the bus in large numbers.

Is it because Issa is white?

Maybe Obama and Holder don't want to release the records because Issa is white. Everyone knows that Obama and Holder are both closet racists, so it's definitely something to consider.

That doesn't make any sense. I like my explanation better

That Prezbo is going to take a political hit for sure, so he is choosing from 2 bad things - to stonewall and hide the documents behind executive privilege and give everyone with half a brain the distinct impression that he is somehow personally involved in this bizarre scheme to showcase how dangerous automatic weapons are and how lax our gun laws are

OR

he lets the documents come out and everything we imagine is in there comes out as fact. Then Holder is safe, but Prezbo is complicit somewhat in Brian Terry's killing. That has a much longer legs in the press going toward November than option #1.

Well, RWM, if NBC...

...gets ahold of those emails & documents, we'll see 'FROM: DOJ, E. Holder' on the first page, and a second page 'Regards, E. Holder'; everything else will be cut out...!

The hits keep coming. NBC can practice reporting today

on the Supreme Court decisions. One on FCC and the other a thumb in the nose of labor unions. Next week, Obamacare down the tubes. Things really are looking up.

NBC really needs an expensive lesson. It is a shame Romney as a public figure is unable to get the reporter and producer in court. I guess the expensive lesson is just going to come from the marketplace as viewers and advertisers flee. Reporter and producer should be fired. They really need to have some training on video and audio tape editing. The Romney thing was so far outside the lines of what passes for journalism even today that I am shocked that no one besides FOX News jumped on them. I guess CBS, ABC, CNN didn't see anything wrong with it - just so the target was Romney.

Robert did you see the non-apology?

She said they just didn't have the time to air the full un-edited version the day before...

As if Ms. Alan Greenspan has ever been in a WaWas or a 7/11.

There is no journalism anymore just opinionated hacks.

No Kevin if you are reading this I didn't mean you 8-)

Andrea Mitchell is a political hack. She belongs at NBC.

She's doing stuff that no dignified candidate would do. That makes her an operative for the Dems.
Her non-apology about not enough time was partially true - Romney's story did have a good point, but he sure rambled around a while before he got there. But her stunt was not editing for time, it was editing to create a story, as were her on camera comments before and after. No mention of the optometrist, no mention of the government forms, no mention of public vs. private sector efficiency (which was actually the real story) only mocking a candidate through deceptive editing.

It was good that she was outed so quickly and throughly. Maybe the networks are realizing that their "jump the shark" moment has arrived. Wonder when FOX News viewership will be more than the 3 networks? This year? Next year?

In the good ole bad days...

Networks could get by with stunts like this.. Remember the non-exploding exploding GM truck story that NBC did years ago. It took over a year or two before it was discovered they rigged the truck to explode for a story and then it was discovered only because of a fired Cameraman.
(Lesson: Don't ever fire the person that knows where your skeletons are)

This was outed within minutes by Hotair.com.

These dinos still believe they can spin stories to fit their agenda/political view and we will never know.

God how they must hate the internet that Al Gore created.
