Fayette Art Center presented awards for the Youth Drawing Exhibit. Participants came from several counties, both private and public schools. The winner was Melissa Woodbridge of McIntosh for her drawing "Super Ego". Second place went to Jessica Lash of Fayette High for "Jimbo-Slice" and third place went to Anthony Lee of Armor of God School for "Today, Tomorrow and Always". Honorable mentions included Mandi Bright of Hampton for "Hope in the Darkest Places", Yusuke Pai of Spalding High, Griffin for his "Lost Train" and "Moon Flight" by Michael Scott of North Clayton Middle School. First place won $75.00, second place $50 and third place $25.00. The director of Fayette Art Center, Kathaleen Brewer, wanted the young artist to experience the rigors of entering a juried show. This meant meeting deadlines, abiding by gallery rules (framed, matted with certain size limitations) and having to choose their best work. "The main reason we are doing this is to provide these kids with credits for their portfolios. Just being accepted into a juried show means a lot. And as they develop into mature artist, they will have also learned a lot of does and don'ts."

Almost as exiting as winning awards, was the interaction with Le'Rav, the featured artist in the Main Gallery. Le'Rav is from San Simeon Island and has his work show in numerous galleries and museums. He loved talking with the kids and signing autographs. Le Rav's work will hang in ArtWorks until the end of March.
