Ice takes over Fayetteville
Although there have been scattered reports of vehicles running off the icy roads, most local residents have been smart enough to stay home today in the aftermath of the overnight ice storm, as this photo gallery shows.
A snow plow from the Georgia Department of Transportation was working before noon to clear Ga. Highway 85
to make it passable, but emergency crews were advising that McDonough Road in particular was so ice-covered it was near impassable, causing vehicles to swerve as they skidded on the ice.
Paramedics and EMTs across the county have been running calls today without much difficulty, including one to assist a young child who was injured while sledding.
This reporter would like to thank his neighbor, Joe Lorfano, who squired him around south Fayetteville in his four-wheel drive truck to make these photos happen.
