Want public transit? Start one up

Public transportation is a great idea for all those that feel a great burst of empathy in their lives.

I suggest these people form a public transportation corporation and invest their money in this effort.

It would work like this:

1. Their money in this corporation would furnish the operating equipment and the day-to-day operating revenue to furnish this service.

2. At the end of the year, investors would split the profits or they would be required to pay the shortfall in revenue to keep their empathy level operating at a high level. Read More»

Jack Smith is under the false belief that we are “mandated“ to spend the SPLOST funds on the West Fayetteville Bypass. The pro-SPLOST commissioner penned an article in The Citizen dated June 15, “Smith Takes Aim At Brown,” which says “Brown will try to negate a voter mandate to do what the political winds tell him to in order to get more political support.” Read More»

Does anybody in local government understand debt?

When one contemplates the size of our national debt, currently at $12-13 trillion, give or take a couple hundred billion, and then realizes that there are states that cannot meet payroll without help from the federal government, we simply shake our heads in frustration.

Our blowhards in Congress with little or no business experience from which to draw speak like they know far better than average Americans who actually work and raise a family, all the while balancing their checkbook. Read More»

Fayette needs public transportation

I am disgusted at the ones running for County Commission always throwing off on county transportation.

If you were older, poor and no longer could drive, you lived alone, whether in city or county. No family to help. Alone. How would you get to the doctor, grocery store, drugstore, church, other older friends. How?

Todd: To change faulty policies, re-elect me

The election for Post 4 on the Fayette County School Board is the most significant in recent memory. The School Board is dominated by the Smith-Smola coalition and has eliminated policies that set expectations, established board minutes that are meaningless, constructed schools that are not needed, refused to establish a reserve account for budgetary purposes and purchased millions of dollars worth of land for possible resale.

The financial drag on limited financial resources for construction costs will continue for years and will limit district options for maintaining system quality. Read More»

Animal rescue center needs help with golf cart

Noah’s Ark Animal Rehab Center and Children’s Care Home, Inc. is seeking a golf cart replacement.

Located on 1,200 acres in Locust Grove, Noah’s Ark cares for over 1,000 animals, both wild and domestic, in a park-like setting.

Up to 30 neglected and abused children are also given shelter and professional care.

Since admission is free, literally hundreds of busloads of school kids visit monthly. Many of the handicapped visitors are ferried around the park on golf carts. Recently one of the two older model carts finally died. Read More»
