D.A. King to speak to Republicans about illegal immigration

D.A. King, a nationally recognized authority on illegal immigration and president of the Cobb-based Dustin Inman Society, will be the guest speaker at the Fayette County Republican Party's November First Saturday Breakfast.  Mr. King is a former Marine and a 27-year resident of Marietta, Georgia, who has been studying our illegal immigration crisis for more than eight years.  In 2003, he set aside his twenty-five year old insurance business to devote full time to educating people on the crisis.  Read More»

PTC may go back to big box limits; 1 goal would be protection of smaller stores

Peachtree City may be going back to a firm size cap on the largest-sized retail stores that will be allowed by city ordinance.

Such a “big box” ordinance would contrast to the city’s current method of regulating the size of stores and shopping centers. Currently the city allows developers a size of up to 32,000 square feet for an individual store and no more than 150,000 square feet total for one single shopping center. Read More»

PTC cops arrest Newnan man for identity fraud, ATM thefts

A Newnan man has been charged with numerous counts of identity fraud and theft after Peachtree City Police and the Secret service staked out local automated teller machines (ATMs). Gregory Anthony, 40, of Prescott Court, Newnan, was arrested Oct. 22 and taken to the Fayette County Jail, police said. Read More»

Spirit of McIntosh wraps up 2010 with competition at Newnan High School

The 100-plus members of the Spirit of McIntosh Marching Band from McIntosh High School will close their 2010 season with a performance of their show “Corrida” at the 31st Annual Old South Marching Festival & Competition on Nov. 6 at Newnan High School. The award winning band participated in two competitions this year receiving all superior ratings for the band, drum majors, color guard, and percussion.
