Man arrested for identity theft, another for statutory rape

Fayette County Sheriff’s spokesperson Brent Rowan said Thursday that sheriff’s investigators earlier this week arrest an Atlanta man for identity theft and a Fayetteville man on charges of statutory rape.

PTC man arrested in rape of 15 year-old

Twenty year-old Peachtree City resident Michael Long has been charged with the Sept. 19 rape of a 15 year-old Peachtree City girl. The incident occurred as the girl was sleeping in a tent in the backyard of a residence where she had attended a party.

On September 20 at approximately 4 p.m. the Peachtree City Police Department was notified by Piedmont Fayette Hospital that a 15 year-old juvenile victim was at their facility, and was alleging that she had been raped during the early morning hours at a home in Peachtree City, said Peachtree City Police spokesperson Rosanna Dove. Builders hired for Newnan Cancer Hospital

Cancer Treatment Centers of America has announced the builders for its new five-story, $55 million cancer hospital that will be located in Ashley Park in Newnan. Construction is expected to begin in December.

CTCA spokesperson Maureen Upchurch said the team of Batson-Cook Construction and Okland Construction has been selected to build the Cancer Treatment Centers of America facility. The Newnan facility will be the company’s fifth cancer hospital, and its first in the Southeast. Read More»

PTC has lowest violent crime rate in metro area

Peachtree City has the lowest rate of violent crime in metro Atlanta for the 2009 calendar year, according to statistics released recently by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The city recorded just 18 such crimes in 2009, which averages out to .51 per 1,000 residents. Read More»

Homecoming parades Friday for McIntosh, Fayette County

McIntosh High School's Homecoming Parade will take place Friday at 4 p.m. The public is invited to watch the parade which begins at McIntosh High School, goes down Walt Banks Rd, turns left on Peachtree Pkwy and ends at the parking lot beside Chick Fil A on Highway 54. Fayette resident named head of Georgia Chamber

The Georgia Chamber of Commerce has announced today that Fayette County resident Chris Clark has been selected as the organization’s new President & CEO effective November 1, 2010.
