PTC cocaine airlift nets 2 pleas

An extensive undercover operation that discovered more than 380 pounds of cocaine being smuggled into Peachtree City’s Falcon Field Airport Aug. 29 has ended with two men pleading guilty in federal court.

Jorge Olivo, 24, of Roswell and Rene Perez, 32, of San Marcos, Texas pled guilty last week to conspiracy charges for possession of more than 380 pounds of cocaine that was flown here from Texas, according to officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Atlanta. Read More»

Cap & Trade public meeting coming Jan. 26

A meeting to discuss the American Clean Energy and Security Act (House Resolution 2454), commonly referred to as the “Cap & Trade Bill,” will be held Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Gathering Place in Peachtree City located at 203 McIntosh Trail.

F’ville police investigating sexual assault claim

Fayetteville police are investigating a claim by two teenage girls that an adult male acquaintance gave them pills in order to take advantage of them and had attempted to do so.

Details of the incident are not available, but Maj. Kevin Gooding said the incident is alleged to have happened Jan. 15 and was reported to police by a parent of one of the girls when the two were being examined at Piedmot Fayette Hospital. Read More»

Local company goes green by adding solar panels

Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Company, which sells aircraft parts and pilot supplies worldwide from its home in the Peachtree City industrial park, has gone “green” in a big way.

Thursday morning the company threw the switch on four arrays of solar panels recently installed on the roof of the 52,000 square foot building. Those panels are projected to provide power for roughly half of the company’s daily electrical usage, according to Mark Jones of Inman Solar. Read More»
