The alleged gunman in an Sept. 17 armed robbery at the Fayetteville Wal-Mart has turned himself in to Fayetteville police, officials said.

Brandon Thomas Mann, 18, of Fairburn was accompanied by his attorney Wednesday when he surrendered to police, who had issued multiple arrest warrants against Mann in connection with the case. Read More»

Update: 5 p.m., Feb. 9 — Preliminary information supplied by the Peachtree City Police Dept. indicates that an East Point man, 37-year-old Thomas McGhee, was killed in the traffic accident that occurred Wednesday at approximately 8:10 a.m. at the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 and Aberdeen Parkway.

Department spokesperson Mark Brown said McGhee at the time of the accident was traveling southbound on Ga. Highway 74. McGhee was pronounced dead at the scene, Brown said. Read More»

High school students with disabilities, and their parents and educators, are invited to attend a workshop, Transition to Post-Secondary Options, on March 15 at Whitewater High from 6:30-8 p.m.

Tyrone cops on look-out for Sonic armed robbers

Tyrone Police are searching for three masked men who held up the Sonic Drive-in restaurant as the store was closing on Jan. 28. No one was injured in the armed robbery.

Tyrone Police Chief Brandon Perkins said the robbery occurred at closing time at approximately 11:30 p.m. Three masked men wearing hoodies and jeans entered the store from the rear of the property, he said. One of the men was carrying a handgun, Perkins said. Read More»

Gang member 'Big Boy' Lynch gets 17 years in F’ville gun store heist

Kissan Lynch, 25, of Jonesboro, Ga., was sentenced Friday by United States District Judge J. Owen Forrester on charges related to the theft of over 80 firearms stolen Dec. 5, 2007 from Autrey’s Armory, a federally licensed firearms dealer in Fayetteville.
