DOT to install flashing light at Baseball-Soccer Complex, Hwy. 74

The Georgia Department of Transportation has agreed to install a yellow flashing caution light at the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 south and the northern entrance to the Peachtree City Baseball and Soccer Complex.

Tuesday morning a contingent of city officials including Mayor Don Haddix and Councilmembers Vanessa Fleisch and Doug Sturbaum visited with the state’s DOT commissioner to urge a full traffic light be installed at the intersection. Read More»

Palmetto Youth League celebrates holidays

These are just a few of the kids participating in the Palmetto Youth League’s first Holiday Celebration held the weekend before Christmas. A mountain of gifts were presented, along with Zumba dances with Amy Jaynes, caroling with Karletta Knox and plenty of refreshments.

The youth league will also sponsor Teen Night Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. Under the direction of Tara Miller, Teen Night is a new mentoring program emphasizing leadership and other teen guidance initiatives. Read More»

PTCPD plays Santa to Southland

Southland Health and Rehabilitation in Peachtree City welcomes the Peachtree City Police Department to provide a Merry Christmas for their residents this year. The department’s response to the request for Christmas gifts for the residents overwhelmed the staff of Southland. Jobless rates jump in Fayette, Coweta

Unemployment rates in Fayette and Coweta counties shot up in November, with Fayette’s jobless rate climbing to 8.6 percent and Coweta’s rate to 9.6 percent. Joe Saia, Fayette Co. public defender, dies

Long-time defense attorney Joe Saia, who most recently served as the Chief Public Defender for Fayette County, has passed away, The Citizen has confirmed.

Saia fell ill while on vacation in June in North Carolina and had to be hospitalized for treatment of heart congestion; he had quadruple bypass surgery. Read More»

A mountain of gifts were presented, along with Zumba dances with Amy Jaynes, caroling with Karletta Knox and plenty of refreshments. The youth league will also sponsor Teen NightJan. 14 at 7 p.m. Under the direction of Tara Miller, Teen Night is a new mentoring program emphasizing leadership and other teen guidance initiatives. Next summer, PYL will operate its summer camp, basketball and soccer programs. The Palmetto Youth League became operational in February 2010. Read More»
