Water main break south of PTC is fixed

A water main break just outside of Peachtree City Monday afternoon caused water service to be lost temporarily for an undetermined number of homes in the area, officials said.

The break was caused by contractors working on land preparation activities for the widening of Ga. Highway 74 S. The water main break occurred near Redwine Road and sent water shooting high in the air, giving the appearance of a geyser.

The break was repaired by crews with the Fayette County Water System, according to Water System Director Tony Parrott. Read More»

100 percent of science projects place at regional fair, advance to state fair

All of Fayette’s middle and high school science students who advanced to the Griffin RESA Regional Science and Engineering Fair earned placements and two of their projects were selected to compete in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

A total of 17 out of 23 projects that were selected for the regional fair brought home first place honors. The first place winners are eligible to attend the State Science and Engineering Fair March 31-April 2 at the University of Georgia. Read More»

Whitewater hosts eighth grade parent night Mar. 9

Whitewater High School will be hosting 8th grade parent night on Mar. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the WHS auditorium.

Parents and upcoming 9th grade students are encouraged to attend this event. Information will be given regarding graduation requirements, course selections and extracurricular activities available to the student.
