Newnan offers reward in beating of elderly woman

The Newnan Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for the beating of an elderly woman.  The Newnan City Council is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.

On September 21, 2009 the Newnan Police Department began an investigation into the assault of a 90 year old woman. The woman, who lives alone, was assaulted in her home at 121 Pinson Street. She was found by friends on the morning of Sept. 21 who routinely check on her well being. Read More»

Satcher to speak for Atlanta Christian’s Commencement

Atlanta Christian College announced today that Dr. David Satcher, director of The Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine and former Surgeon General of the United States, will speak at this year’s commencement exercises. Commencement will be held May 8 at New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Ga.

Dr. Satcher graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta in 1963 and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He holds M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Read More»

Tea Party meeting scheduled for April 1

The South Atlanta Tea Party will hold a meeting April 1 and will feature speakers discussing the reform of the political system and the use of technology to influence the political system.

Georgia Tea Party Patriots Coordinator Debbie Cooley will speak on reforming the political system from the inside out. She will be joined by National Tea Party Patriots Coordinator Joy McGraw who will talk about technology uses that can influence the political system.

PTC adding historical timeline to memorial project

Peachtree City’s effort to honor founding fathers Floy Farr and Joel Cowan is expanding.

The project, funded entirely by donations, is nearing its initial $25,000 goal. But another $35,000 will be needed to accommodate the addition of a “pre-history founder’s corner” and a timeline of city milestones placed around the plaza to mark notable firsts, community events, mayoral terms and other achievements. Business leaders and Fayette residents are invited to hear an update from U.S. Congressman Lynn Westmoreland a breakfast sponsored by the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Tuesday, April 6 from 7:30-9 a.m. at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center in Peachtree City.
