Muhammad J. Firdoush, 59, of Stevens Entry, Peachtree City, for wanted person (cobb County).
Maria C. Avendano, 29, of Hillcrest Avenue, Fairburn, for traffic offenses (2).

Some of Fayette’s graduating seniors are among a select few in the state who will have a special seal on their diplomas when they graduate.

Five students have been named 2010 Georgia Scholars by the Georgia Department of Education. Students receiving the designation are Laura Eckhardt, Morgan Myers and Audrey Shlapak, all of Starr’s Mill High, and Christopher Murray and Shelby Threlkeld, both of Whitewater High. Read More»

Elementary scientists proved they have what it takes to solve scientific problems at the 2010 Elementary State Science Olympiad held recently at Kennesaw State University.

Fayette had six school teams competing against 60 others from throughout the state. Kedron Elementary finished in the top three, taking third place overall.

It was nothing but hugs of appreciation for Tyrone Police Sgt. Eric DeLoose by homeowner Sandra Mallory Thursday afternoon. The alert DeLoose while on patrol on Pendleton Trail Wednesday noticed the beginnings of a house fire that firefighters minutes later extinguished, saving what would have been a major structure fire and potentially the loss of Mallory’s home.
