Peachtree City is about to get a rather unique establishment offering Middle Eastern culture in the form of a “hookah bar” and Mediterranean restaurant.

The establishment will sell tobacco that will be smoked in special devices called hookahs in which the tobacco is heated in a device that mixes the tobacco into the steam released by the device. They are designed to be used by several people at the same time. Read More»

WMVW, New Life FM, has been broadcasting inspirational music and bible teaching out of Griffin for 15 years, on 90.7 FM, which reached areas such as Mansfield, Conyers and Covington. The annual Coweta County Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society held last Friday and Saturday at the county fairgrounds again offered a unique blend of the silly and serious. Aside from the comic relief supplied by the Miss’ter Relay contest and Karaoke Idol there were also touching moments of camaraderie and reflection like those found in the Survivor and Caregiver’s Lap, making the event one that has no equal in any other large community gathering in Coweta County. Coweta County May 18 joined Troup and Carroll counties in signing an intergovernmental agreement for federal grant money to fund the Coweta Judicial Circuit Drug Court Program.

Commissioners agreed to accept the federal funds through the FY 09 Recovery Act’s Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant in the amount of $428,292.

Across the three counties, the three-year grant funds will pay for items such as drug program coordinators and a case manager, travel mileage, a copier and supplies. Read More»
