Coweta Fayette Rotary Club Welcomes attorney Lynn Clark and 4 GRSP Students

Lynn Clark visited the Coweta Fayette Rotary Club and introduced four GRSP Students. Since 1946, Rotarians in Georgia have promoted world peace through understanding by offering scholarships to international students for one year of study in Georgia colleges and universities.  Georgia Rotary Clubs sponsor students recommended by a Rotary Club in their home country.  Read More»

Charity golf tournament coming to Cannongate

Awesome Youth Inc. will host its first annual Elaine B. Connally Memorial Golf Tournament Saturday, May 15 at the Canongate I Golf Club.

The tournament event begins at 11 a.m. with tee time at 1 p.m. Team registration and single registration is available. Team, single, and raffle prizes include items such as cash, golf equipment and a Honda Accord Crosstour.

Awesome Youth Incorporated is a nonprofit organization, with all proceeds from the tournament benefitting the Summer Camp Scholarships for underprivileged under-served youth. Read More»

A Fayette County woman was recognized last week for winning the prestigious Robert Benham Award for community service.

Community leaders double as servers for fund-raiser tonight

The pressure will be on Monday night when two dozen community leaders from around Fayette County will do their best to measure up to the occasion; and get the orders right. Far from the confines of law enforcement, legal issues or the business of running businesses or local government, the 24 will be volunteer servers for what should be a packed house at a charity dinner supporting child abuse prevention. Facebook class for parents offered Saturday morning

There will be a different type of internet class for parents offered Saturday morning at St. Paul Lutheran School and Church in Peachtree City. Thirteen year-old Girl Scout Maddie Plant will be joined by Peachtree City Police Capt. Rosanna Dove for a “Facebook Class for Parents.”

Dove said the class was Plant’s idea and is part of her work toward a Girl Scout Silver Achievement Award. Her Facebook presentation is designed to help parents know what Facebook visitors do and how they do it, Dove said. Read More»

Tax Day rally in Newnan draws crowd again this year

Nearly 300 people attended the April 15 Tax Day Tea party rally at the Greenville Street Park in Newnan.

It was a year ago that a small group of Coweta County residents organized an April 15 Tax Day Tea (Taxed Enough Already) Party rally outside Newnan City Hall. Last week, one year later, they were back. This time the rally was held at Greeville Street Park. Unlike many citizens’ movements, the local Coweta County Tea Party Patriots and the 9/12 Patriots that sponsored the rally are still here and don’t plan on ceasing their efforts. Read More»
