Peeples top fund-raiser for youth protection homes

Peeples Elementary won top honors in the 19th annual Fayette Youth Power Parade, a walk-a-thon held in Fayette County elementary schools March 29th through April 2nd. The school came in first place and raised $7,391.10 for Fayette Youth Protection Homes, a local non-profit organization which provides shelter and support for children who have been the victims of abuse or neglect. The South Atlanta Tea Party will meet Thursday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at 800 Commerce Drive in Peachtree City. The meeting will feature Joel Foster of Americans for Prosperity, who will conduct a "Next Step Training" workshop.

Fayette Issues group meets tonight

Due to a number of individuals who have conflicts with Tuesday nights, the Fayette County Issues Tea Party will meet Monday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Whitewater Creek Community Center Club House just inside the main gate at Redwine Road & Birkdale Drive.

The meeting will include additional decisions on the direction and goals leading up to the primary election on July 20. Public input is requested.

Anti-bullying workshop to be held May 20

An anti-bullying workshop with information to benefit students and parents will be held May 20 at Sams Auditorium in Fayetteville.

Times Well Spent, Inc. has recently partnered with the Fayette County schools, local law enforcement and the Association of Village PRIDE, Inc. to provide the anti-bullying workshop geared towards the parents of elementary and middle school students. Newnan resident receives Legion of Merit Award

Colonel Steven Charles had a long military career, serving in the Navy, the Air Force and the Air Force Reserve. Over the course of 30 years, Charles served two cruises abouard the USS Constellation, had 212 carrier landings (89 of them at night) graduated from navy Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) and served as an instructor in both the F-111 Aardvark and the F-117 Stealth Fighter.
