There was a lot more to the Aug. 14 Back to School Bash at Carlton Elementary School than many might have expected. Accompanying the rides, games, food and music was an exhibit of kid-friendly snakes provided by the Cochran Mill Nature Center. The event was sponsored by Abundant Life Ministries and the Palmetto Police Department.

Chamber of Commerce President Boothby selected as officer for state association

Candace Boothby, president of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, has been selected Second Vice-Chair/Treasurer of the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (GACCE) for 2010-2011. She will Chair the organization for the 2013-2014 term.

GACCE is the professional society of Georgia chambers of commerce executives and staff. 40-day ‘Jesus Feast’ set to begin Aug. 10

More than the lyrics of Toby Mac’s popular “City on Our Knees,” these questions appropriately introduce an event which begins next Tuesday.

The Jesus Feast, sponsored by The Emerging Daniel Company, was conceived by two Fayette County business women, Joyce Beverly and Angie Samples. The impetus for the project stemmed from their burden to lift Jesus up in this community and nation. Read More»

Fayette WWII vets to make final Honor Flight

On Sept. 15, Honor Flight Fayette will be making its last voyage to the national World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Honor Flight has been chauffeuring WWII veterans to memorials since 2007, and this is the group’s seventh and final such flight.

Flight days are a flurry of activity, beginning with a send-off breakfast in downtown Fayetteville and a subsequent police-escorted ride through Fayetteville to Hartsfield International Airport. Read More»
