Newnan Spring Tour of Homes coming April 17

The Newnan-Coweta Historical Society will present “An Evening of Moonlight and Roses” – its 33rd annual Spring Tour of Homes – on April 17, in Newnan, the “City of Homes”. The tour is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and includes homes predominately in the College-Temple Historic District. Free medical clinic planned for uninsured Coweta residents

Work is underway to establish a free medical clinic for uninsured Coweta County residents.

An $80,000 federal grant has been secured to assist with the clinic’s planning stages, and local volunteers are well on their way with a donated medical facility located at the corner of Jefferson and Lee streets in Newnan.

The grant application was a joint venture of Piedmont Newnan Hospital, the PAPP Clinic, the Coweta County Health Department and One Roof Ecumenical Alliance Outreach. Read More»

Tea Party meeting scheduled for April 1

The South Atlanta Tea Party will hold a meeting April 1 and will feature speakers discussing the reform of the political system and the use of technology to influence the political system.

Georgia Tea Party Patriots Coordinator Debbie Cooley will speak on reforming the political system from the inside out. She will be joined by National Tea Party Patriots Coordinator Joy McGraw who will talk about technology uses that can influence the political system.

PTC adding historical timeline to memorial project

Peachtree City’s effort to honor founding fathers Floy Farr and Joel Cowan is expanding.

The project, funded entirely by donations, is nearing its initial $25,000 goal. But another $35,000 will be needed to accommodate the addition of a “pre-history founder’s corner” and a timeline of city milestones placed around the plaza to mark notable firsts, community events, mayoral terms and other achievements. Starr’s Mill and McIntosh’s varsity soccer teams will meet next Thursday with a special event surrounding one of the county’s most exciting athletic rivalries. Battle for the Troops has three goals - to send packages to soldiers deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, honoring our troops and their families, thanking them for their sacrifice and raising funds and accepting donations for the Wounded Warrior Project and the Lt. Entries sought in Senoia photography competition

It is all about life’s simple pleasures. A call for entries has been posted for the juried photography competition “Simple Pleasures” that will be hosted by the Veranda Historic Bed & Breakfast Inn and Gallery in Senoia.

Both professional and amateur photographers 18 and over are invited to compete in three categories: Life in Senoia, Life in Georgia and Life in The World at-large. 

Deadline for receipt of entry form, fees and CD with images no larger than 2 MB each is Saturday, May 1. Black and white, sepia, color and manipulated images may be entered in any category. Read More»
