Fayette County School Superintendent John DeCotis (2nd from left, holding plaque) was honored last week by members of the Fayette County Branch of the NAACP. Chapter President John Jones (to the right of DeCotis) in his tribute to DeCotis noted his years of dedicated service to the Fayette County students and the community. “We are thankful and proud to have had this man, and for his work and support of the NAACP. Thousands pour into Senoia for Memorial Day events

It was a Memorial Day Celebration and Festival like no other. Multiple events in Senoia Monday brought several thousand people to the downtown area. The event now in its fifth year, the parade was the headline event but the action and activities were non-stop from 10 a.m. until sunset when the skies over Senoia were filled with fireworks. Senoia is no stranger to large crowds attending special events. But the city’s previous turnouts were far exceeded Monday by the thousands who attended the 5th Annual Senoia Memorial Day Celebration and Festival.

The day began at 10 a.m. on Main Street and every side street in the downtown area, along with businesses open for the occasion, was simply bursting with people.

A packed house crowded inside the American Legion Log Cabin in downtown Fayetteville to pay honor and respect to America’s heroes who have served our country and given the ultimate sacrifice: their lives.

The event, normally given gravitas by virtue of its location in Fayetteville’s historic cemetery, was moved indoors due to the threat of rain. But it did not damper the spirits of the audience nor the speakers. Read More»

Patriot groups to hold meeting on illegal aliens and amnesty

Arizona is all over the news with supporters and detractors weighing in on its new immigration law. Other states are considering similar measures. As the issue unfolds, local patriot groups will sponsor a meeting Tuesday on illegal aliens and amnesty.

Speakers at the event will include Congressman Lynn Westmoreland and nationally recognized authority on illegal aliens D.A. King.

Event organizers said the estimated number of illegal aliens in the U.S. ranges from 12 to 25 million, with programs in some areas being reduced due to the soaring costs of serving illegal aliens. Read More»
