Case of county attorney’s wiped hard drive is sent to prosecutor

Fayette County State Court Solicitor Jamie Inagawa is being asked to determine whether former county attorney Scott Bennett violated Georgia open records laws by having all the data wiped off his office and laptop computers, both of which are owned by the county, just as he was ending his employment contract with the county late last year.

Violations of the state’s open records laws are classified as misdemeanors, which is why the matter is being sent to Inagawa, who handles misdemeanor cases in Fayette County State Court. Read More»

4 commissioners disavow East F’ville Bypass

Last week, several Fayette County commissioners made it clear they are not moving forward with the proposed East Fayetteville Bypass.

Those voices against the project were missing the week before, when county staff made a presentation on the project during the county’s retreat April 5. The presentation noted that the project would exhaust the remaining $28 million in funds left from the county’s transportation sales tax and require another $5.8 million to complete. Read More»

Race for Riley takes off April 27

It is time again for one of the premier fundraisers in southwest metro Atlanta as the 9th annual Race for Riley is set for April 27 in the Serenbe community in Chattahoochee Hills. The heavily attended fundraiser featuring a 5K race and bike ride benefits the Joseph Sams School in Fayetteville.

The annual Race for Riley commonly draws more than 1,000 participants, and this year should be no exception.
