The annual Light Up Senoia parade was a hit again this year. Large crowds lined Main Street just before dark on Dec. 4 to watch nearly 50 entries in one of the city’s popular annual events. And there were plenty holiday activities for the whole family before and after the parade.

Teen struck crossing road in critical condition

A 17 year-old Tyrone male is in critical condition at Atlanta Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle late Friday evening while crossing Senoia Road in Tyrone.

The 17 year-old was struck by a vehicle at approximately 5:30 p.m. near the Crumpton’s Furniture store on Senoia Road on Tyrone’s south side, according to Tyrone Police Det. Steve Lafferty.

The teenager, whose name has not been released, was apparently in route to his residence across the street, Lafferty said.

The teenager was flown to Atlanta Medical Center where is he in critical condition, said Lafferty. Read More»

Hwy 92 south of Fayetteville closed due to crash

Ga. Highway 92 at Hilo Road has been closed temporarily at 2 p.m. today after a dump truck struck a power pole, causing live power lines to fall across the highway, officials said.

Crews from Coweta-Fayette EMC are on the scene but an extended repair time is being predicted as a new power pole must be brought in to replace the damaged one, officials said.

Sharpsburg man struck by vehicle, dies

A Sharpsburg man died early Monday night after being struck by a vehicle traveling on Ga. Highway 154 at Malvern Hill near Willis Road. No charges have been filed at this time.

A Sharpsburg man died early Monday night after being struck by a vehicle traveling on Ga. Highway 154 at Malvern Hill near Willis Road. No charges have been filed at this time.

Girl, 16, life-flighted after PTC cart crash

REVISED FOR PRINT Nov. 2 — A woman lost control of a golf cart carrying four children and a teenager off Kedron Drive in north Peachtree City Friday night and careened into a tree. The single cart wreck resulted in the teenager being life-flighted to Atlanta Medical Center. Tyrone police work with public on speeding concerns

The Tyrone Town Council Thursday approved the purchase of a multi-use SMART trailer that can assist police and the public on a variety of issues such as reminding motorists to comply with speed limits. The trailer will be purchased with existing federal drug funds.

Police Chief Brandon Perkins in making the purchase request noted that reports by citizens of motorists speeding in neighborhoods and other locations in the town contributed to the department’s interest in obtaining the SMART (Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer) unit. Read More»
