Wreck at Flat Creek and Golfview in PTC closes road

The Peachtree City Police department is currently working a two vehicle wreck at the intersection of Flat Creek Road and Golfview Drive.  The east entrance to Golfview from Flat Creek is completely closed.  Motorists can access Golfview from the west side. 

Police department spokesperson Rosanna Dove at approximately 4:15 p.m. Thursday said motorists should expect to be stopped and be required to turn around if on Flat Creek Road from Peachtree Pkwy.

One injury in F'ville accident

Details are sketchy at this point but Fayetteville Police report that a two-vehicle collision on North Jeff Davis and Georgia Avenue early Thursday afternoon resulted in one driver being transported to Piedmont Fayette Hospital after her SUV flipped over on impact.

Department spokesperson Steve Crawshaw said the accident appeared to have resulted when a SUV traveling northbound on Jeff Davis and intending to turn left onto Georgia Avenue was struck by another SUV traveling southbound on Jeff Davis. PTC cops ID man taking photos of kids, seek warrant

UPDATED Monday, 7:15 p.m. — Peachtree City Police have identified the probable would-be photographer whose approach to some children playing near the Braelinn ballfields Saturday afternoon upset some parents.

Safety flare causes minor injury to man at Braelinn Village

A man was treated and released at Braelinn Village Shopping Center Feb. 26 after a safety flare accidentally ignited.

Peachtree City Police spokesperson Rosanna Dove said officers responded Saturday to the parking lot at Braelinn Village Shopping Center at 11:47 a.m. in reference to a person receiving a chemical burn.

Police officers and firefighters arriving at the scene discovered an unknown device that had exploded in the hand of the victim, Dove said. Read More»

Injuries avoided when car crashes into store

No one was injured when a Sharpsburg man accidentally drove through the front door of the Lenscrafters at The Avenue shopping center in Peachtree City early Thursday afternoon, police said.

There were people inside the business at the time, but they escaped injury when the vehicle crashed through the front, police said.

The driver was identified as B.J. Curry, 73, of Sharpsburg. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said in a news release late Thursday.

Update: 5 p.m., Feb. 9 — Preliminary information supplied by the Peachtree City Police Dept. indicates that an East Point man, 37-year-old Thomas McGhee, was killed in the traffic accident that occurred Wednesday at approximately 8:10 a.m. at the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 and Aberdeen Parkway.

Department spokesperson Mark Brown said McGhee at the time of the accident was traveling southbound on Ga. Highway 74. McGhee was pronounced dead at the scene, Brown said. Read More»

Fayette to hold drill for Severe Weather Awareness Week

It is never too soon to be prepared for an emergency. And that includes emergencies caused by severe storms that can cause power outages and shortages of provisions. The Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services (FES) wants residents to be prepared for those emergencies and is using national Severe Weather Awareness Week to participate in a statewide tornado drill on Feb. 9. PTC making progress on Hwy. 74S warning light at Baseball-Soccer Complex

Peachtree City officials are continuing to work on plans to install a flashing yellow light to caution motorists approaching the city’s Baseball and Soccer Complex on Ga. Highway 74 south.

The Georgia Department of Transportation, at the behest of City Council and a number of letters from residents, recently relented and said it would approve the light. Read More»
