Fire kills pet dog; family unhurt but needs help

A Peachtree City family was not at home on Dec. 13 when a mid-morning house fire caused significant damage to the house. A family dog did not survive the fire.

Peachtree City Fire Department spokesman Ron Mundy said the fire at 129 Burnham Rise on the city’s south side was reported just after 10 a.m.

Units arrived within five minutes to find a heavily involved fire with heavy flames in the kitchen area, Mundy said. He said a vehicle was in the driveway so firefighters did a search but found no one at home. Read More»

PTC cops searching for man in Kedron area

UPDATE - 2:40 p.m. - Peachtree City police the suspect has been taken into custody.

Crabapple Elementary School was locked down temporarily Thursday afternoon while Peachtree City police search for a man who ran from officers.

Department spokesman Mark Brown said officers are searching for a man, identified as Christopher Cudd, who ran from an officer at the Kedron Holiday Inn.

Erratic driver causes accident on Hwy. 85 in F'ville

Traffic along Ga. Highway 85 in north Fayetteville was backed-up for approximately 45 minutes Monday afternoon after a man with a medical condition driving southbound crossed into the northbound lanes and struck two vehicles then had his car disabled by plainclothes sheriff’s deputy who witnessed the event.

Sheriff Barry Babb said the driver of the vehicle, whose name has not been released, had a medical condition that caused him to drive erratically. Read More»

Faulty outlet cause of fire

A short circuit in a bedroom outlet resulted in a Nov. 17 fire at former city council member Bobbie Blandburg’s home at 323 Bridge Street in Senoia.

Fire crews worked for more than four hours to extinguish the blaze that damaged 70 percent of the home but resulted in no injuries.

Coweta Fire Dept. Assistant Chief Jeff Denney said the fire occurred at approximately 10:22 a.m. and was caused by an electrical outlet in a bedroom that shorted-out. Read More»

Tyrone woman dies in F'ville traffic accident

A 23-year-old Tyrone resident was killed in a Nov. 19 traffic accident in Fayetteville. The accident is under investigation.

Fayetteville Police Department spokesman Mike Whitlow said an investigation is underway into the death of Tyrone resident Charis Walker and the injury of two others.

Walker in her Toyota Camry was crossing Ga. Highway 54 East from Cobblestone Boulevard to Weatherly Drive at approximately 11 p.m. when her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a Dodge Caliber driven by Richard Jennings, 46, of Ellenwood. Read More»

Update: 9:45 p.m. - Peachtree City Police announced that Michael Robinson was located unharmed in Mississippi. No foul play is suspected at this time. The investigation is continuing.

Peachtree City Police are looking for a 17-year-old last seen on Nov. 18. Michael David Robinson was last seen in the Crosstown Drive area.

New north Fayette fire station opens

It was years in the making but on Nov. 19 the completed Fire Station No. 3 on Jenkins Road at Ga. Highway 74 was unveiled. Funded by the Fayette County Fire Fund, the 9,600 sq. ft. station in north Fayette County is situated on 6.6 acres and will accommodate fire service needs for the next half-century.

The opening was attended by firefighters from in and around Fayette and Fulton counties and by elected officials from Fayette County, Tyrone and Peachtree City. Read More»
