Armed robber nabbed

A Senoia man was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault on Jan. 22 after pulling a knife on a clerk at Crook’s Hit n Run convenience store.

Senoia police spokesman Jason Ercole said officers at approximately 2:30 p.m. responded to a call about a man threatening a clerk with a knife.

Ofc. Wesley Courtois was nearby and arrived on scene in a matter of seconds, Ercole said, finding 19-year-old Wyman Terry Campbell still standing in front of the counter. Read More»

Fayette deputies test on-body cameras

On-body cameras worn by law enforcement officers may be in the news recently but the idea of finding cameras that are durable and affordable has been a long time coming for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Having experimented with cameras since 2007 with limited success, the sheriff currently is evaluating two types of camera systems for road deputies and jailers.

Sheriff Barry Babb said the sheriff’s office initially used shoulder-mounted cameras as far back as 2007, but found little success with the units. Read More»

Child porn charges for Brooks man

A Brooks man arrested Dec. 22 for the molestation of two underage female victims faces new charges of possession of electronic pornography and child exploitation.

Thomas J. Brandlehner, 57, of 135 Elsberry Lane east of Brooks, was initially charged with one count of aggravated sexual battery, one count of sexual battery, two counts of child molestation and two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb.
