The following arrests were reported by local law enforcement agencies for the past week. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty:

Mia Lasonya Boyd, 44, of Spruce Ridge Way, Stone Mountain, for probation violation.
Trey Allen Doxie, 18, of Chardinay Court, Peachtree City, for probation violation.

Deputies to take part in DUI crackdown

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office has announced that it will be participating in the statewide DUI crackdown over Labor Day weekend in an effort to deter impaired drivers.

Deputies will be joining their counterparts from the Peachtree City Police Department in focusing on DUI enforcement through the use of special patrols and checkpoints to identify drivers who are either impaired by drug use or having a blood alcohol content over the limit of .08.

The crackdown is part of the state’s Operation Zero Tolerance campaign. Read More»

5 indicted in 2 drug trafficking cases

A Fayette County grand jury has indicted three men for trafficking in methamphetamine after undercover drug agents found about three pounds of methamphetamine in a home in northwest Fayette County June 11.

Bernal Gerson Villafan and Uvaldo Alvarado Tequila, both of 385 Greenview Circle, Fayetteville where the incident took place and Ismael Guerrero Moya of Dade City, Fla., were charged with trafficking in methamphetamine. 5 indicted for S. Fayette heavy equipment chop shop

Five people have been indicted for participating in a heavy equipment chop shop that was discovered May 18 just outside of the town of Brooks in south Fayette County.

Ronald J. Martin and Shane D. Spino, both of 455 Morgan Mill Road, Brooks, Charles Allen Rippy Jr. of Todd Road, Greenville, Nathaniel B. Morris of Pine Street, Zebulon, and Nathan William Lunsford of Garner Road, Alvaton will face felony charges in connection with the case. Read More»

PTC woman arrested after stealing from clients

Peachtree City Police investigators on Aug. 27 arrested Robin Darleen White, 37, of Aberdeen Drive on with three counts of theft by receiving stolen property and two counts of financial identity fraud. The cleaning service operator is accused of stealing from her clients.

Police spokesperson Rosanna Dove said the charges stemed from an ongoing fraud investigation conducted by the Peachtree City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Read More»

The following arrests were made by Tyrone Police during August. Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Francisca Ascecio Mazas, 31, of Ga. Highway 54, Fayetteville, for seatbelt violation and no license.
Leslie A. Banks, 50, of Rockhurst Chase, Tyrone, for simple battery.
Megan Nicole Berry, 22, of Cedar Drive, Lawrenceville, for DUI and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Chanvy Chanthraboutda, 39, of Lacosta Drive, Hampton, for DUI and failure to maintain lane.
Timothy Lance Hamilton, 47, of Hampton Drive, Atlanta, for no license and failure to maintain lane. Read More»

Sheriff's investigators arrest 4

Fayette County Sheriff’s investigators have arrested several people in recent days in four different cases.

Jasmyne Jordan, 21, of Decatur was arrested Aug. 24 on identity fraud. Detectives said Jordan on Aug. 3 cashed a stolen check at a Delta Community Credit Union branch which belonged to a Fayette County resident. Read More»

Man indicted for pointing pellet gun

A Locust Grove man was indicted last week for pointing an air pellet gun at four people during a May altercation at the Taco Bell in Peachtree City.

Jermal Thomas, 17, of Kings Cove, Locust Grove, is charged with four felony counts of aggravated assualt in connection with the incident.

The incident occurred May 8 and Thomas was on a golf cart at the time, police said. The dispute involved people who had congregated on the outdoor patio area of the restaurant, police said.

The charges were filed in part because Thomas portrayed the air pellet gun to be a real handgun, police said.

Former Tyrone cop indicted for sex crimes

Accused of molestation, sexual battery of 2 underage girls

A former Tyrone police officer has been indicted on more than six dozen felony crimes including several counts of child molestation that occurred in the city of Fayetteville.

Matthew Anthony New, of Orchard View, Fayetteville, 37, is accused of taking a photograph of a 13-year-old girl after he “induced” her to expose her genitals sometime between November 2007 and March 2008, according court records. New also is accused of molesting and committing sexual battery on the same victim by touching her “intimate body parts,” according to the indictment. Read More»

Two indicted for PTC auto break-ins

Two men have been indicted for breaking into three autos in Peachtree City Feb. 16.

Police arrested Andre Quincy Axam, 28, of Blanton Avenue, Atlanta, and Demarco Gonzalez McDonald, 19, of Skyline Drive, College Park in the parking lot of the Kedron Village Chick-fil-A after an alert citizen witnessed them enter an auto at the Mellow Mushroom and called 911.

The duo is accused of entering a Ford pickup truck parked at Mellow Mushroom, a 2008 Ford Expedition parked at the Smokey Bones restaurant and a 2002 Cadillac Escalade parked at World Gym on Commerce Drive. Read More»
